Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 Sleepy Beauty

It is too quiet inside the forbidden forest, there is no wolves howling upon full moon, there is no winds rustling along fall leaves, there is no two more persons inside, as if each other's heartbeat could be heard, while both hearts are beaten as one.

Speaking of lack of sleep, neither Solar nor Lunar would be strange.

The moon above silently tells the clock strikes two o'clock, when the moon slips down at two o'clock's direction in nighty dome.

Solar: Speaking of lack of sleep, we know what is the consequence of lack of sleep, we know why is a student in lack of sleep, we know how can he deal with lack of sleep, but we don't know how can we encourage a student to schedule bedtime.

Lunar: What is the consequence of lack of sleep?

Solar: About four consequences that I am absolutely positive. Firstly, it brings students academic consequences like impaired cognitive function, reduced attention and focus, lowered creativity and problem-solving skills, and poorer decision making.

Solar(continues): Secondly, it brings students mental and emotional consequences like increased stress, anxiety and irritability, higher risk of depression and mood swings. Thirdly, it brings students physical health consequences like weakened immune system, weight gain and unhealthy eating, increased long-term health problems, and higher injury rate. Fourthly, it brings students safety consequence like drowsy driving.

Lunar: Why is a student in lack of sleep?

Solar: External factors and internal factors cause students in lack of sleep.

Lunar: External factors?

Solar: External factors are academic pressure and heavy workloads, early school start times, extracurricular activities and jobs, commute times, and social and family obligation.

Lunar: Internal factors?

Solar: Internal factors are poor time management and procrastination, the bedtime procrastination phenomenon, screen time and blue light, caffeine and energy drink consumption, stress and anxiety, and unhealthy sleep environments.

Lunar: How can students deal with lack of sleep?

Solar: To deal with lack of sleep, we have unhealthy and unsustainable strategies and healther and proactive strategies.

Lunar: What are unhealthy and unsustainable strategies?

Solar: Unhealthy and unsustainable strategies are caffeine overload, catching up on sleep on weekends, all-nighters, power napping at the wrong times, and using sleep aids indiscriminately.

Lunar: What are healther and proactive strategies?

Solar: Healthier and proactive strategies are time management and prioritization, improving the sleep environment, establishing a relaxing bedtime routine, limiting caffeine, scheduling shorter naps, advocating for later school start times, and seeking help.

Lunar: Did you have ever been in lack of sleep?

Solar: Yes, I did.

Lunar: Why were you in lack of sleep?

Solar: The bucket list and the queen's wills must be done in three years. For the others, it takes seven years of studying to be a dark art teacher. For me, it takes only two years. It means it takes all spare time to finish a seven-year schedule five years in advance.

Lunar: I've been napping for centuries, even though vampire didn't need to sleep at all. Did your students have ever napped in class? Did you mind their napping in class?

Solar: I never mind students napping in class, because I know they are in lack of sleep. Students without enough sleeping couldn't be able to remember what was studied, so it's better for them to nap in class.

Lunar: What kind of question did you ask about lack of sleep?

Solar: When I stood in front of them at teaching platform, I looked upon the whole class of students, and found some of them napping on desks before the class. I threw a chalk upon the napping students, and asked of how many of you have ever felt lack of sleep?

Lunar: You said you never mind your students napping in class, but why did you throw a chalk upon the napping students before the class?

Solar: I never mind their napping in class, but I mind their napping before the class, because I need them to finish their essays.

Lunar: How many of them have ever felt lack of sleep?

Solar: Wow, all of them.

Lunar: What kind of essay was assigned to them?

Solar: It's an essay about what did you know about your lack of sleep. Ask yourself what did you know about the consequence of lack of sleep? Why were you in lack of sleep? How did you deal with lack of sleep?

Lunar: May you please tell me some of your students' works?

Solar: The consequence of lack of sleep is just a minor problem I thought, until it brings me academic consequence and physical health consequence. It reduced attention and focus, that I forgot what was studied after the class. It weakened immune system, that I caught the cold after staying up late. The school start time was at six o'clock, and my bedtime was at twelve o'clock. It means I had less than six hours for sleeping. I had to advocate later school time, and went to bed before ten o'clock. The school start time was still at six o'clock, but I was allowed to be late for sleeping. Sleepy Beauty.

Lunar: Sleepy Beauty?

Solar: Sleepy Beauty is not the sleepy beauty in fairytale, she is the sleepy beauty in the reality. She is not in coma, she is in lack of sleep due to early school start times.

Lunar: The next essay, please.

Solar: What doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger, except lack of sleep. Lack of sleep doesn't kill me immediately, but it will kill me slowly. It's reported that most of people without enough sleeping went away due to sudden death. Maybe I am the next person, because lack of sleep not just weakens my immune system, but it also continues to damage my physical health. I did six jobs in a day, including a full-time job, and two brain-power jobs. Six jobs occupied my time, and bedtime was left less than five hours a day. I started to focus on one job at a time, and lay down the other jobs. It reduced my income, but it increased my bedtime hours. Mr Pressure.

Lunar: Mr Pressure was too stressful about doing six jobs in a day, wasn't he?

Solar: Yes. He was in lack of sleep due to extracurricular jobs. He should lay down the other jobs, and take a good rest.
