Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 One Man's Enlightenment Brings Prosperity to His Entire Family.

Chapter 24 One Man's Enlightenment Brings Prosperity to His Entire Family.

Jiang Nian's expression changed slightly as he stared blankly at Bibi Dong's aloof face.

Good heavens!

Was she waiting for him here?

He might as well just stick his butt out.

"Take out the brush," Bibi Dong commanded.

"This... is it."

Jiang Nian sighed and picked up the brush to begin writing.

After thinking for a while, he decided to write a line of poetry.

Bibi Dong watched from the side, her brows furrowing at first, then showing some surprise.

After Jiang Nian finished writing, she read the line aloud, enduring her discomfort.

"Therefore, a disciple need not be inferior to his master, nor a master necessarily more virtuous than his disciple."

"There is a sequence in learning the Way, and each has their own expertise; that's all."

A hint of astonishment flashed in Bibi Dong's eyes.

This little devil could come up with such a line of poetry?

But what did he mean by writing it down?

Was he implying that he also had things he did wrong?!

"The poem is good, but the calligraphy..."

Jiang Nian shuddered and subconsciously scratched his butt.

Bibi Dong changed the subject: "It's barely passable. You'll need to practice more in the future."

"You said it yourself, handwriting reflects the person."

"Such ugly handwriting doesn't suit you at all."

Bibi Dong put away the poem; she felt she might need it in the future, but she didn't know when.

"Understood! This disciple will definitely practice more in my spare time."

Jiang Nian paused for a moment, then scratched his head.

"Teacher, I want to go out tomorrow."

Hearing this, Bibi Dong raised an eyebrow: "Where to?"

"About ten kilometers from here."

Jiang Nian looked intently into her eyes, awaiting the answer.

Bibi Dong tapped her fingers on the table, inwardly extremely reluctant to let this boy go out alone.

After all, staying by her side was the safest option.

What if he encountered bad people outside, or a vixen?

But thinking that staying indoors for too long might make her feel restless, she hesitated for a moment and said calmly, "Yes, but you must be back before sunset."

"Otherwise, just wait and see."

A hint of surprise flashed across Jiang Nian's face, and he hurriedly replied, "Understood, Teacher."

Bibi Dong nodded and waved for him to leave.

Once she was alone in the study, a sense of melancholy gradually crept into her heart.

Then, she got up and sat on the edge of the bed, beginning her cultivation.

The next day.

Jiang Nian hailed a carriage in Wuhun City, bought many things, and set off.

About an hour later, he arrived at his destination.

Looking at the orphanage that hadn't changed much, he quickly walked inside.

Soon after, a woman wearing glasses looked at the boy who had entered, paused for a moment, and then her face lit up with uncontrollable excitement and pride.

"A-Nian? It really is you..."

"Director Sister."

Jiang Nian smiled gently, looking at her somewhat wrinkled face, and thought of his own days as an infant.

Well, those times were a little embarrassing to recall.

"Don't call me Dean, just call me Sister Bai like before." Dean Bai smiled, her demeanor slightly reserved. Jiang Nian immediately realized his mistake.

How had he become the lord?

Sister Bai had become that country bumpkin...?

"Sister Bai, it's been half a year since I last visited you and your younger brothers and sisters."

"These are gifts I brought," Jiang Nian said with a smile.

He then looked at the shy children in the distance.

Some were new, some he had seen before.

However, he wasn't sure who they were.

After all, his appearance and height had indeed changed slightly after absorbing his second spirit ring.

"A-Nian is still the same as before, kind and gentle."

She then bent down and ruffled his hair before beckoning the children over.

A short while later, over a hundred children blinked their big eyes at Jiang Nian, who stood beside Dean Bai with a noble air.

More than half of them seemed to recognize him and immediately surrounded him excitedly.

"Is that Brother A-Nian?! It really is!"

"Wow! Brother A-Nian has grown so tall now... When I'm six, I definitely want to awaken a powerful martial spirit like Brother A-Nian!"

In the past two years, the Sunshine Orphanage had fared much better than before.

One person's success brings benefits to their entire family.

As the only person with innate full spirit power in nearly twenty years, Jiang Nian naturally received rewards and resources from the Sunshine Orphanage.

When she left, there were only forty-odd children.

Now, there were so many.

Jiang Nian ruffled the hair of the little girl closest to him; her small tiger teeth left the deepest impression on him.

He could awaken his martial spirit next year; hopefully, it would be of good quality.

"Here, Qing'er, have some pastries."

"And you, Little Cannon."

"Jiahao, you brat, stop saying weird things."

A short while later, Jiang Nian had distributed all the things he'd brought.

He treated the last three children the same way he'd treated the others.

Hu Liena blinked her large, watery eyes, seemingly born with an allure.

Her voice was sweet and soft as she said, "Brother Nian, thank you for the gifts!"

Jiang Nian smiled and nodded. He couldn't do much; these were just small things.

"Alright, you three go play. I need to talk to Sister Bai about something."

Yan and Xie Yue nodded, and Hu Liena could only agree.

... Jiang Nian ate lunch at the orphanage, with Director Bai by his side.

Looking at the meat in her bowl, she sighed, realizing life had indeed improved.

She noticed everyone's meal standards were the same as hers and nodded.

"Nian, you don't need to worry about the orphanage."

"Mm..."

Jiang Nian nodded.

The two walked and chatted, buying some things in town and reminiscing about childhood anecdotes. Before they knew it, the sun was setting. When it was time to part, Jiang Nian left a bag of gold soul coins and quietly departed.

Dean Bai, who had been busy all day, looked at the cloth bag on her desk with a complex expression.

"This kid… even with money, you can't spend it like this…"

She didn't need to count to know how much was inside.

After all, the two times Jiang Nian had returned, he had left behind a thousand gold soul coins.

That amount of money was enough for them to eat for half a year.

"Oh well, let's improve the children's lives… I hope they'll remember how good Anian was to them in the future."

Meanwhile, Jiang Nian bought some delicious food and pretty decorations, then got into his carriage and went home.

As dusk approached, he arrived at Bibi Dong's boudoir.

"Teacher, these are some pastries I brought for you, they taste very good."

"And this hairpin, I think it suits you perfectly, Teacher."

Bibi Dong's slightly furrowed brows relaxed, and she took a small bite of the hairpin with her delicate hand.

The pastries melted in her mouth, yet were very chewy.

She then sampled the others.

"Not bad, you've thought of me, your teacher."

Bibi Dong looked at the hairpin in the jade box, secretly admiring the little one's excellent taste.

She wondered if she had bought any for other girls...

"Xiao Nian, put this on me."
