Chapter 1: The New Recruit

Izuku Midoriya sprinted through the smoke-filled hallways of the U.A. Training Facility, lungs burning, arms trembling from One For All's recoil. The USJ had erupted in chaos, pillars collapsing, fire and dust everywhere. He dove under a falling beam, grabbing Bakugo mid-fall, slamming him to the floor just as debris rained down.

And then… the world blinked.

The walls, the fire, the ceiling—it all vanished. Deku landed hard on jagged rock, rolling instinctively to absorb the shock. The air smelled metallic, acrid, alive. Far ahead, three figures in green-and-white armor moved with practiced precision. Soldiers. Clone soldiers.

Where… am I?

He tried to speak, to call out, but nothing came at first. Then one of the clones barked orders. Somehow, Deku understood them perfectly. It wasn't Japanese, but the meaning was clear: Stay low. Droids approaching.

His heart slammed. Battlefield. Real. Not training. Not simulation. Actual lives at stake.

Deku ducked behind a boulder as lines of battle droids advanced, blasters cutting streaks of death through the air. He counted angles, arcs, trajectories—instinct from hero training, battle simulations, and sheer observation.

Then movement at the ridge. Small, green, impossibly agile. A lightsaber activated with a hum that made Deku's stomach drop. Yoda.

Blaster bolts streaked toward the clones. Yoda spun and leapt, deflecting each one with ease, the blade a blur of green energy. Deku froze for just a second, then his instincts screamed: Protect the clones.

He sprinted, shouting, pointing, ducking, calculating. One clone was too close to a falling rock—Deku launched himself, pushing the soldier out of the way. Pain shot through his legs, ribs, and shoulders, but he gritted his teeth. Keep moving. Keep them alive.

The battle was a blur. Droids fell under Yoda's precise blade strikes, Deku's frantic saves, and careful placement of the clones. He smashed one droid mid-air with a One For All-powered punch, ducked under a blaster bolt, and rolled behind cover as another shattered a nearby boulder.

Through it all, he noticed patterns in the fire. If I time their movement here, they won't get hit. If I push them this way, they'll be safer. It was working. Against all odds, Deku felt useful.

Then the real danger appeared: Ventress. Her dual lightsabers ignited, spinning, deflecting bolts with lethal precision. Deku froze for a moment. She was fast, deadly, a force he could not fight. All he could do was move and shield the clones, diverting debris, blocking lines of fire.

Yoda leapt forward, engaging her directly. Deku watched, heart hammering, as the little green master spun, ducked, and struck with impossible speed. Ventress's blade flashed dangerously close to the clones—but Deku's timing and frantic signaling kept them alive. He shouted orders, gestured, jumped, rolled, and threw himself into danger over and over, ignoring the pain that lanced through his body.

I have to save them. I just have to…

When Ventress retreated, the dust settled. Deku's knees gave out; he sank to the ground, covered in scratches, bruises, and smudges of alien dust. Yoda approached, lightsaber retracting, eyes sharp and knowing.

"Strong, you are… but hurt yourself, you do. Why?" Yoda asked.

Deku's chest heaved. "I… I can't let anyone get hurt if I can do something! Even if it hurts me—I just… I can't not do it!"

Yoda cocked his head, ear twitching. "Hmmm… unusual. Selfless, yet reckless. Lesson, you must learn, hmm?"

Deku glanced at the clones, alive, shaking, and glaring at him curiously. The alien world around him—rocks, canyons, strange skies—was nothing he had ever known. And yet… he felt purpose, for the first time since arriving.

He pushed himself upright, every muscle screaming. Someone needs me. I have to try.

And as Yoda began rounding up the clones, Deku ran ahead, scanning the horizon, calculating, jumping, ready to throw himself into danger again. In this galaxy, there were no heroes like in textbooks. But he could try. He had to.
