Chapter 1 - Chapter One

I leaned on the terrace's railing as I saw my boss making out with one of his mistresses who was almost half of his age.

Breeze creased my golden hair, my eyes narrowed. It was a half moon on the horizon but still making the sea glow. The ship let out its long dragging howl.

I pushed off from the wall. I climbed down through the stairs and stepped into the fore-castle area.

They were at the edge of the forecastle. Leaning on the railing.

The girl giggled and parted from him then ran away from there. Probably went to the boss's room.

I made my way towards the boss while holding the cigarette between my lips. My boss's smile faded as soon as he saw me.

I stood beside the middle aged man who was still leaning on the railing, thinking himself handsome but in reality he was anything but handsome.

I sucked from the cigarette as I leaned forward, my elbows took support on the railing.

His eyes wandered around me,"You've grown so much, Alastair." His voice was like an old annoying machine.

"I think it is the law of nature." I nonchalantly replied and looked at him.

He narrowed his eyes,"But I saw your birth, Boy."

"I know." I chuckled. My eyes crinkled,"Is anything bothering you, boss?"

He was now glaring at me,"No. But provoking me."

I knew, he knew.

"Who?" I exhaled the smoke.

He stood straight. Abruptly.

He smiled without humor,"I admire your calmness because if someone else was in your place, he would've pissed in his pants."

My lips let the cigarette fall into the sea. And turned to him,"What did I do?"

He suddenly rushed towards me,"You, son of a whore!" He grabbed my collar. His loud voice never made me flinch. My right hand slowly reached my back pocket.

"What happened, sir?" My tone remained unreadable.

He clenched his jaw together. He was about to pull out his gun but before that…..I drew my dagger and pierce his neck with the knife.

An actual piercing. The tip of the blade poked out from the other side of the neck. His eyes widened. He might be unknown to his own death. His dry like rotten lips trembling. His sinister blood slashed on my sleeves and my face.

With a grunt I pulled the knife back. The corpse collapsed on the ground. Because he held my right hand, my right wrist's bracelet slipped with him. I calmly walk five feet far. I held the blade against my chest. Ran the blade on the skin and made a cut. I did the same to my arms. With composed ease I laid there.

The last thing I did was scream. Acting like I needed help.

Everyone came. Panicked. Took me to the medic. Within a few hours I found myself on my bed, laying peacefully. Shirtless. Bandages around myself made wounds.

The door crack opened. A young man with pale skinned, old wounds on his lips and neck entered without knocking.

"Well well, nice job." He chuckled and sat on the edge of the bed. He was a distant cousin of the boss.

"Surprisingly you were too loyal to be a suspect. No one will believe it's you." His eyes glimpsed in amusement.

I leaned on the bedpost, "Yet you know."

He grinned,"Politics is too dangerous."

"But it's personal, Creon." I snorted. He was a politician.

His smile dropped, and gave a suspicious squint,"Like everyone, you're also hunting on his property."

He paused because I scoured him with my gaze,"Say that again. Next is you." A promise.

"You're inviting Lucifer." He warned.

"I don't fear." I stated,"She needs someone. So, she can have me."

Crean sighed and stood up,"You're insane." He paused. And went out of the room.

After six days, I found myself standing before the late boss' house. The mansion was filled with people as the news of his death spread like a wildfire.

I walked inside of the house. It was a pretty big, white anteriored house. If someone enters the house first they'd have to cross a small corridor then find a big drawing room. In the middle of the drawing room they'll find a large sky-colored couch on which she was sitting.

I was standing at the entrance.

At least ten people, mostly women, were surrounding her. She was wearing a normal gown like she wasn't aware of this sudden news. Her tip-of-flames like hazel eyes were calm. Her wavy hairs untied like always.

In my eyes her smooth, warm complexion was shining today.

She wasn't crying.

Why would she? Her conqueror was dead.

But the women's nagging around her was the only thing which was annoying.

One of the women noticed me and asked,"Are you from her husband's office?"

She noticed me too. I took a sharp breath,"Yes. May I have an audience with her?" No one's Mrs.

They all nodded and walked past me. It was just me and her. I stepped forward. Carefully reached the couch. Slowly sat on the other side of the couch.

"We're sorry for your loss." You shouldn't though."We should have been careful." I acted like a mourning assistant.

She didn't look at me. Just stare at the floor.

"Are you….. Okay?" Of course. She nodded and replied with her low, smooth voice, "I am fine."

I leaned back on the couch,"Whatever happened. Try to forget it. You need to be strong." I looked down,"And your life is gonna be bloomed by pure love."

She slowly lifted her head and looked at me. She didn't say anything. I didn't look at her directly.

I couldn't.

As long as she doesn't give me the permission to look at her directly.

Yet, I lost myself to her without letting anyone know.

"What is the situation outside?" She asked.

I sighed,"Quite managable."

She nodded.

I stood up,"If anything you want. Just call me. Anything."

She nodded while looking down,"It's too much of a shock."

"You need to move on." I immediately corrected myself with, "In life. I mean."

I slightly bowed and turned to leave,"See you soon, Ma'am." Julie, her name. I started to walk. An officer entered the room. I paused at the door.

"Ma'am, is it your husband's?" He asked, showing her a bracelet. My bracelet. Her movement froze. Little did I know, she knew about my famous bracelet. Because it was given by that boss himself.

But surprisingly she shook her head as no.

I smiled and walked out.

I opened her golden cage and served myself on a silver plate.
