Three nights later, Lucian took Julian somewhere new.
He offered no explanation beforehand. He rarely did.
The only instruction he gave was simple.
"Wear the bracelet."
Julian glanced down at the dark band around his wrist. He hadn't removed it since Lucian fastened it there. He still wasn't sure whether that fact bothered him more than the bracelet itself.
Instead of arguing, he picked up his coat and followed Lucian out into the night.
The building they arrived at did not advertise what it was. From the outside it looked like an old warehouse renovated by someone with money and a preference for privacy. No sign hung above the entrance. No music spilled out onto the street.
Only a single doorman stood beneath the dim awning.
The man's gaze moved first to Lucian, then to Julian. His eyes dropped briefly to Julian's wrist before returning to Lucian again.
The door opened.
Inside, the atmosphere shifted immediately.
