Julian did not expect to see Victoria Henderson again so soon.
He noticed her the moment he entered Lucian's office. She was standing near the long table across the room, her posture calm but her attention fixed entirely on Lucian.
Neither of them stopped speaking when Julian stepped inside.
Victoria glanced toward him briefly, acknowledging his presence without surprise, then returned her attention to Lucian.
"So the hunters confirmed it," she said.
Lucian remained seated behind the desk.
"Yes."
Julian paused near the doorway.
Hunters.
That word alone was enough to hold his attention.
Victoria continued speaking.
"They've been moving across three districts already. Not randomly. They're checking specific locations."
Lucian's voice stayed even.
"Looking for something."
Victoria nodded once.
"Or someone."
Julian crossed the room slowly and stopped beside the chair opposite Lucian's desk. Neither vampire asked him to leave.
Which meant he was meant to hear this.
