Chapter 10 - Chapter:-10 Eyes That Never Sleep

The house felt different after breakfast.

Caspian could feel it in the way her parents spoke softly when she entered a room… in the way conversations stopped when she walked past. They were watching her now — not openly, but carefully… quietly… like they were trying to connect invisible dots.

Her mother noticed when she checked her phone too often.

Her father noticed when she stepped outside late at night and returned with tired eyes.

They didn't ask questions anymore.

They observed.

And that silence made everything heavier.

That night, Caspian stood alone on her balcony.

The city lights blinked below her, but her mind was still trapped between two names… two lives… two truths.

A cold presence formed behind her.

"You feel it too… don't you?" the ghost's voice whispered near her ear. "They're starting to see who you really are… Velora."

She didn't turn around.

"What am I supposed to do?" she asked quietly. "Lie forever… or lose everything?"

Invisible fingers brushed her arm — not controlling… just there.

"And if both worlds collapse?" he asked softly. "Which one will you choose?"

The question stayed in the air.

For the first time… Velora didn't have an answer.

Suddenly her secure phone vibrated — the one only the mafia world used.

A message flashed on the screen:

"Enemy gangs gathering again. New information discovered."

Her expression hardened instantly. The Queen returned.

Within minutes… she stood in the underground control room of the mafia city. Screens glowed with maps, movements, enemy signals.

One of her closest allies spoke first.

"We finally found out why they've been attacking you for weeks," he said seriously. "It's not just about territory."

Velora crossed her arms. "Then talk."

"They want control over the entire mafia network… but that's not all," another member added. "They believe you're connected to someone… someone powerful."

The room went silent.

A name appeared on the main screen.

Adrian

— Former leader. Feared across the underworld.

— Mafia identity: Riven Ash.

Velora's eyes narrowed.

"They think… you were in a relationship with him," the ally continued carefully. "And they believe his power… his legacy… now belongs to you."

A cold wind moved through the room.

Behind her… the ghost's presence grew stronger — tense… almost restless.

Velora's voice stayed calm. "And that's why they're hunting me?"

"They think if they defeat you," someone replied, "they erase both legends at once."

For a moment… she felt the ghost step closer — silent, intense — like the past itself had entered the room.

"So they're afraid," Velora said quietly. "Not powerful."

Her allies nodded.

Later… she stood alone again on a rooftop.

"You heard everything," she said softly to the night.

The ghost appeared beside her — unseen but close enough that she could feel his breath against her hair.

"They know my old name now," he whispered.

"Adrian…" she said slowly… testing the sound.

Silence followed.

"So… Riven Ash," she added quietly.

The air around her tightened… not angry… but heavy with memories.

"They think we were something," she said.

"And what do you think?" he asked.

Velora didn't answer immediately.

Instead… she stepped closer to where she felt him standing. Her hand moved forward until invisible fingers met hers — familiar… cold… steady.

"Right now," she said softly, "I think everything is getting too close… my parents… the gangs… your past… my truth…"

He moved nearer — protective… silent… present.

"And you?" she asked. "What will you do if they find out everything?"

His whisper came low and certain:

"I stay… where you stand."

Below them… the mafia city lights flickered like war signals.

Above them… her real life waited with watching eyes.

And somewhere between Caspian and Velora… between Adrian and Riven Ash…

a truth was rising that none of them could hide for long.

Because now…

the enemies had a reason,

the past had a name,

and the Queen had finally stepped into a war that was no longer just about power —

but about legacy… identity… and a love born from enemies. 🖤
