Chapter 3 - A Kiss To Save

Meanwhile, in a park.

The motorcycle pulled to a stop in a quiet corner. Elizabeth looked around, her heart still racing as confusion washed over her.

"Why are we stopping here?!" She turned to face him, raising her hands defensively in front of her chest. "Hey, what are you planning to do to me?! Don't you dare hurt me!"

He climbed off the bike and faced her with a calm expression, giving her a gentle smile that made her lower her guard just a little. "Calm down. Look at your hands and legs. They're covered in blood. You need medical care right now!"

Before she could speak or give permission. He carefully lifted her from the seat and carried her in his arms.

She gasped in surprise, her arms wrapping around his neck on instinct as she held tight.

He set her down gently on a clean park bench, his movements surprisingly careful.

He walked back to the bike, popped open the storage compartment, and pulled out a first-aid kit.

Elizabeth watched him warily, her body trembling slightly as she tried to catch her breath.

"Now, take off your jacket and skirt!" he said as he approached, holding the kit in his hands.

"What?! Are you crazy?!" She leaned back a little, her face flushing bright red with shock and anger. "You can't ask for something like that in public!"

He let out a soft laugh, then opened the kit to show her its contents. "Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not going to do anything inappropriate here. I just need to treat those bleeding wounds of yours!"

She nodded slowly, then tried to unzip her jacket with shaking hands, but pain from her arm shot through her sharply, making her wince and fumble with the zipper.

"Let me help you!" He stepped closer and gently placed his hands over hers, helping her slide the zipper down and remove the jacket.

Their eyes met by accident as he pulled the fabric off her shoulders. Their lips were only inches apart, and she could feel his breath on her skin.

He paused for a moment, and she noticed him inhale slightly, like he'd caught the scent of her perfume from her neck, but just as quick. He focused back on her wound, taking a cotton pad from the kit and pouring alcohol over it.

"I'm going to clean your wound now!" he said softly, his eyes full of concern.

When the pad touched the cut on her arm, a sharp jolt of pain shot through her. She winced, squeezing her eyes shut tight.

"Hurts?" he asked, his voice gentle and caring.

She nodded without opening her eyes, her voice barely a whisper. "Yes, it hurts a lot! Please, slowly."

"Just hold on a little longer, okay?" He carefully dabbed at the wound to clean it. Then applied antiseptic ointment and wrapped it gently with bandages.

Once her arm was done. He looked down at her leg, blood was still seeping through her skirt.

"Now take off your skirt, or I'll do it for you!"

"Hey! What now?!" Her voice cracked with tears, her face burning red with a mix of embarrassment and anger. "I'm hurt and scared, and you're still thinking about indecent things?!"

"I used all the bandages on your arm. I need fabric from your skirt to wrap your leg. It looks sprained too!" he explained firmly. His eyes serious as he looked at her swollen knee.

Shame washed over her as her cheeks grew even hotter. She'd completely misunderstood him.

She tried to pull at her skirt to lift it up, but the fabric was torn and stuck to her skin, and she couldn't manage on her own.

He quickly stepped forward to help, carefully tearing the bottom hem so he could reach the wound on her leg.

"This is going to hurt a lot. Try not to scream too loud, okay, Miss?" he said softly before pressing a piece of cotton soaked in alcohol against her skin.

"Okay, just do it!" She squeezed her eyes shut, bracing herself for the pain.

"Who's your name?"

"Elizabeth."

"Okay, Elizabeth. Do you believe me?"

She nodded, opening her eyes to look into his. There was nothing but kindness and concern there. "Yes. What are you going to do to me?"

"Elizabeth, take it!" He handed her a roll of cloth, then picked up the torn piece of her skirt. "Bite on this! Ready?"

"Yeah."

She bit down hard on the fabric as he began cleaning the deeper cuts on her leg, tears streaming down her cheeks from the searing pain.

He worked gently but quickly, applying ointment and wrapping her leg tightly with the cut fabric from her skirt.

When he finished, she looked up at him, feeling a confusing mix of gratitude and confusion. "I don't even know who you are?"

"Sstt, Elizabeth. Be quiet, don't move!"

Before she could say anything else, he leaned in and kissed her lips. Quick and soft, but enough to make her heart skip a beat.

"You!" She gasped in shock and raised her hand to slap him, but he caught her wrist before she could make contact.

He kissed her cheek, then moved his lips close to her neck and whispered in an extremely low voice.

"They found us, Elizabeth. Pretend to be my girlfriend, now!"

She turned to look where he was pointing. Several men in black suits were scanning the park. Their eyes sharp as they searched for someone.

"They are not here, Sir. Let's look for another place. Let's not waste time. We have to find them before morning."

When the men spotted them, a young couple embracing and kissing on the bench. They just glanced away and kept walking, paying them no more attention. Once they were out of sight, the men turned and left the area.

"Okay. Let's get out of here!" He pulled back slightly, his hand still resting on her shoulder.

She stepped away from him, her mind racing. "Will they keep looking for me?"

He shook his head slowly. "Not for now, it seems. I'll take you home now. Just tell me your address!"

They stood up and walked toward the motorcycle parked not far from the bench. Her legs were still shaky, but she tried to keep up with him.

"No need, take me to." She didn't get to finish her sentence.

Loud gunshots rang out from behind them, and several bullets struck the asphalt just inches from her feet.

She looked back in terror to see the men chasing them with multiple cars and motorcycles.

They scrambled onto the bike and sped off immediately, plunging into a dangerous high-speed chase on the highway.

"Damn it!" he shouted as he swerved to dodge more bullets coming from behind. "Elizabeth, who are you?! Why do they want to kill me too?!"

"I don't know!"

He carefully maneuvered around the cars ahead, weaving through traffic as gunfire continued to rain down on them. The drivers and riders they passed shouted curses as they cut through lanes, and Elizabeth watched in horror as several vehicles crashed into each other in the chaos left in their wake.
