Chapter 9 - Swap Confusion

Lunch break arrived. As the teacher was tidying his books on the desk, the classmates bolted out of the room immediately after bowing. This left Dennis all alone in the classroom with the teacher. The teacher saw Dennis still looking down at his desk, then he walked over to approach him.

"Hey, congratulations. You've undergone an awakening. Have you checked your power yet? If your strength is sufficient, you could work as a hunter. Judging by your drastic transformation, you must have gained incredible power," the teacher said as he sat in the chair next to Dennis.

"Aren't you supposed to be eighteen before you can become a hunter, Mr. Mason?" Dennis asked.

"Well... ideally, that's how it works. But if your power is useful and above average, you might be granted permission. After all, you're already seventeen; it's only a one-year difference. That's why you should go check with the hunter guild," Mason replied.

"Maybe later, sir. I'm not really interested right now," Dennis said slowly.

"Alright then, it's up to you. But you haven't submitted your choice of major and faculty to me yet. Please get that in soon, and you need to get your awakening verified so we can have the official documentation from the guild for our archives," Mason said while placing a hand on Dennis's shoulder.

"Okay sir, I'll get it to you as soon as possible," Dennis said.

"Very well, I'll be going now. It looks like she is getting impatient waiting for us to finish talking," Mason said, smiling as he pointed a thumb toward the door behind him.

Dennis looked past Mason; Daisy was already standing at the door, but she was waiting because she saw Dennis was talking to him. Then Mason stood up and walked to the door. Daisy greeted him as he walked out, and he responded with a smile and a wave of his hand. After Mason left, Daisy came inside and, without hesitation, sat on Dennis's lap and wrapped both her arms around his neck.

"Let's just eat at the cafeteria, okay? We didn't pack a lunch this morning because there was nothing in the fridge, right? Let's go grocery shopping after school," Daisy said.

"Okay, no problem," Dennis replied listlessly.

Daisy, seeing that Dennis seemed sluggish and lacked energy, immediately touched his forehead and stroked his hair. Then, she looked at him seriously.

"What's wrong, honey? Is there anyone I need to poison?" Daisy asked.

Hearing Daisy's words, Dennis immediately looked up and stared at her face. There was a pair of dragon horns on her head. Dennis knew instantly that the Daisy in front of him was Daisy number 5.

"It's nothing. There's no need to think about poisoning anyone, okay?" Dennis said.

"Huu... no fun. I need a guinea pig to test my new poison strength," Daisy number 5 muttered, pouting.

"Fine, just use a frog later," Dennis replied.

"But I want to try it on a human," Daisy number 5 said.

"Yeah, yeah, just wait until there's an opportunity, okay... not right now," Dennis said with a smile.

Suddenly, Daisy kissed Dennis until his eyes widened. He glanced left and right, making sure there was no one in the class. He tried to push Daisy away but stopped himself, getting caught up in the moment. After she broke the kiss, Dennis was shocked; the dragon horns on Daisy's head had vanished. In their place, her eyes had turned blue and her ears had grown long and pointed to the sides. Daisy's face looked flat, but her lips were still pulsing. She leaned her face back toward Dennis until her forehead was pressed against his.

"Who hurt you, honey? I can eliminate them from a distance," Daisy number 3 said in a very low voice.

"It's nothing, just relax. I was just lost in thought, there's nothing wrong with me," Dennis said. "It's probably best not to tell her anything, for everyone's safety," Dennis muttered to himself.

"Oh, alright then. Kiss me," Daisy number 3 said, her mouth already pouting again.

Without thinking twice, Dennis immediately kissed Daisy. However, after a few moments, he gently pushed her away to break the kiss.

"Hey, you said you wanted to go to the cafeteria. Let's get there before lunch break is over," Dennis said.

"Oh, that's right. Let's go, honey," Daisy said, having returned to normal and putting her glasses back on.

They stood up and walked out of the classroom to head to the cafeteria, but as soon as they stepped out, "Waaaah!" two girls screamed in shock, jumping back and clutching each other's hands with eyes full of terror staring at Dennis. When he saw the two girls, Dennis immediately remembered who they were—the juniors who had dropped the watermelon on his head. He raised his hand.

"Wait, aren't you the two from that time?" Dennis asked.

"Y... yes, we heard you were back, senior. We wanted to see if you had recovered or not... but it turns out you've changed... you're... hot... but terrifying," one of the two girls answered with a slightly trembling voice.

"I'm fine now, thanks for worrying about me," Dennis said with a smile.

But the two girls went silent and just stared at Dennis, stunned and unblinking; the two swords at their waists even clattered and swayed. Suddenly, "Shiiing," a katana swept across, stopping right in front of the two girls' necks. "Hiii!" both of them gasped, looking to the side in shock. Daisy had already crossed her katana at their throats. Dennis immediately pulled Daisy back and held her shoulders from behind.

"Um... she's my wife," Dennis said, introducing Daisy awkwardly.

"Oh... yes, sorry, senior's wife. We just wanted to make sure because we felt really bad about it. Don't worry, both of us are married too," one girl said, as both of them raised their hands to show the rings they were wearing.

"Your names? I'm Daisy," Daisy asked.

"Um... I'm Viola and she's Fiona. We're twins," Viola answered.

"Oh, you're twins? No wonder you look so much alike," Dennis replied, observing the two.

"Y... yes, senior. Al... alright then, we'll take our leave. Glad to see you're okay. We're going now, bye... come on, Viola," Fiona said while pulling Viola's hand.

The two of them immediately ran off, leaving Dennis and Daisy, who was sheathing her katana back into the scabbard at her waist.

"Hey honey, you can't just attack people like that. They just wanted to make sure I was okay since they're the ones who dropped the watermelon," Dennis said.

Daisy didn't answer, but she glanced at Dennis. Dennis was instantly shocked because Daisy's eyes had turned red, and he knew exactly which Daisy was out now. Daisy number 2.

"You think I can't read their intentions? They didn't just want to apologize; they're interested in you, honey," Daisy said firmly, clearly angry.

"Well, whatever. I'm only interested in you anyway," Dennis replied, trying to melt Daisy's anger.

"Fine, but as punishment,"

Daisy took Dennis's hand, gripped his wrist, and "Chomp"—she bit down on his hand and started sucking his blood. Though he winced slightly from the sting, Dennis tried to stay calm, keeping his expression neutral and letting Daisy drink. Finally, Dennis picked Daisy up—while she was still latched onto his arm—and walked toward the cafeteria. Naturally, he drew the attention of everyone passing through the corridor.

As they approached the cafeteria, Dennis set Daisy down. She immediately wiped her mouth and put her glasses back on, signaling that Daisy number 1 had returned. The moment they stepped into the crowded cafeteria, just like everywhere else, they became the center of attention. Several seniors wearing different uniforms—marking them as active hunters—watched Dennis with serious interest, as if they wanted to recruit him or perhaps test him. Meanwhile, Dennis tried his best to avoid the gaze of everyone in the room.

Before the change, he had been well-known because of his appearance; now that he had changed, he was just as famous for his drastic transformation. Unused to being the center of attention and under the constant glare of others, he began to feel like school was a terrifying place. After they bought their food and sat at an empty table:

"What did Mr. Mason talk about earlier?" Daisy asked while enjoying her ramen.

"He asked me to decide which faculty and major I want to join... and he also asked me to go to the hunter guild to check my awakening powers," Dennis answered.

"Oh... it's Barbarian, right? You already got the card yesterday," Daisy replied.

"Yeah, I don't really need to check it again. And if I show them this card... I'm actually afraid it might not be legitimate," Dennis replied.

"How about we go to the hunter guild tomorrow and ask? We'll just be honest about it there," Daisy suggested.

"Hmm... alright. Why not today?" Dennis asked, confused.

"Well, today we have to go grocery shopping, remember? Our food supply is empty," Daisy replied, looking at Dennis.

"Oh right... I completely forgot," Dennis said.

They went back to eating while chatting, and of course, Dennis kept trying to ignore the stares of the people around him, which were getting sharper by the second. Then Dennis watched Daisy eating elegantly in front of him, tucking her hair back.

"Why am I getting so tired... but this is really strange. According to my new memories, Daisy can swap with one of her personalities for a whole day and can only swap once... but why has she already swapped three times in just a few minutes? this is weird. What exactly is going on," Dennis muttered to himself while eating his bread, continuing to observe Daisy.
