Chapter 97 - Chapter 97 Shadow Corps

"Wow, it's really delicious, Takeru. Your decision was fantastic!" Enjoying the Spider Eagle's egg and the massive strawberry, Umaru showed a happy smile.

Seeing Umaru's smile, Takeru couldn't help but smile himself. It seemed having a companion by his side was really nice! After enjoying dinner, Takeru lay down on the soft grass, looking at the unique night sky of the Hunter World, feeling incredibly peaceful...

Seeing Takeru's casual action, Umaru imitated him and lay down as well.

"I wonder how my brother is doing, if he's doing alright..." Looking at the night sky, Umaru felt worried about Taihei.

Having experienced so much on the journey, especially the scene in the Milsy Wetlands during the first test, Umaru felt it was extremely dangerous. If one got eliminated early, it was fine, but if eliminated later, with Taihei's strength, he could very likely be killed...

"Though I don't know how everyone is doing, having mastered Observation Haki, they probably shouldn't have any major problems." Hearing Umaru, Takeru comforted her softly.

"That's true." Hearing Takeru, Umaru could only silently pray.

After resting a bit, Takeru stood up again and began setting special abilities for his Nen Beast.

Although Umaru hadn't mastered Nen, she could faintly sense the shape of the Nen Beast Takeru was creating through her Observation Haki. She was very curious about it but didn't know how to ask.

Meanwhile, Gon, with no birds around at night, helplessly lay down on the grass and began psyching himself up again.

What Gon didn't know was that a dark figure had been watching him from a distance the entire time.

Although Gon had exposed many openings today, the figure's owner seemed to be contemplating something, merely watching the hardworking Gon calmly without choosing to act.

At dawn, when sunlight touched him, Gon woke up. After washing his face with water from the small river, he picked up his fishing rod again and started training with enthusiasm.

After blindly practicing for several hours, Gon once again lay down exhausted on the grass.

"It's no good. It really is too difficult. Is there really no way to lock onto birds flying freely in the sky?" Gon said helplessly. However, he then noticed a bird catching a fish.

'Why can birds accurately catch fish swimming around?' Seeing this, Gon began carefully observing the bird's movements.

Soon, Gon witnessed a scene of a mantis stalking a cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. The moment a fish ate a bug near the water's edge, the bird precisely snatched the fish.

Seeing this, Gon instantly understood. Excitedly, he picked up his fishing rod and became the final hunter...

After successfully catching birds several times in a row, Gon began his operation. Using the island's blood-sensing butterflies to lead the way, he followed them and found Hisoka, who was injured and sitting quietly...

At this moment, Hisoka seemed engrossed in researching something, paying no attention to his surroundings...

However, even though Hisoka appeared unguarded, seeing him still made Gon nervous and tremble.

Fortunately, having grown up in the forest and possessing strong innate talent, Gon had a natural Zetsu-like quality, so Hisoka didn't detect his presence.

Gon could only wait for Hisoka to take action.

As for Leorio, he was like a headless fly, searching everywhere for his target, unaware that the cunning Tonpa had already set his sights on him...

Later, due to Kurapika's unexpected involvement, Leorio and Kurapika formed a cooperation agreement, taking the opportunity to deal with Tonpa and a monkey-controlling examinee...

Killua, on the other hand, was targeted by the youngest of the three brothers. However, compared to Killua, the three brothers were practically cannon fodder-level.

Killua handled them with minimal effort, took their number tags, kept the one he needed, and simply threw the other two away...

In the blink of an eye, six days had passed. Many events had occurred during these days, but none affected Takeru. He had successfully developed his Nen Beast.

Shadow Person: Also called Shadow Corps by Takeru. Normally, its form is similar to Takeru's, composed entirely of shadow. It completely inherits Takeru's own attributes, can execute simple commands, and can use a portion of Takeru's abilities.

It can also merge into shadow or darkness. A Shadow Person can exist forever. However, correspondingly, as long as it exists, the upper limit of Takeru's own Aura Capacity will be reduced by the amount used to create it. Only when the Shadow Person disappears will Takeru's Aura Capacity slowly recover.

The drawback is that Shadow Persons consume stamina. Receiving light injuries will cause them to dissipate!

Stamina recovery rate depends on the Aura used during creation. If the Aura is exhausted, it will also dissipate. Moreover, once the corps uses Aura, it will be in a state where it can never be recovered. This means if a Shadow Person uses Aura to fight, it will dissipate quickly.

When a Shadow Person dissipates, it will transmit back the last scene it saw...

Additionally, although Shadow Persons can merge into shadow or darkness, they are not invincible within it… they can still be harmed if attacked.

While there are quite a few weaknesses, because Takeru is extremely powerful even without relying on Aura, this Shadow Corps Nen Ability suits him very well.

Under normal circumstances, a Shadow Person's existence doesn't consume Aura… it only consumes Aura when using it to fight. In this case, as long as Takeru orders it not to use Aura, the opponent would have to injure it to make it dissipate.

But Takeru's defense itself is over 500 points. Combined with inheriting Takeru's Absolute Defense skill, injuring it is not easy.

Add Armament Haki to that, and it's essentially Takeru's simple clone.

Of course, skills requiring mana won't be available, nor will telekinesis. The inherited abilities are a weakened version of the Rokushiki, Observation and Armament Haki, and finally the special talent Absolute Defense.

Looking at his creation, Takeru showed a satisfied smile. He directly spent two-tenths of his Aura to create two Shadow Persons, having them normally merge into his shadow and come out to protect him at critical moments...

Although his Aura Capacity's upper limit decreased by two-tenths, he could still currently maintain Ken for about forty minutes...

Under normal circumstances, if Takeru created Shadow Persons meant for consumption, he could create forty or fifty at once...

However, because those would use too little Aura, their stamina would basically be in an unrecoverable state. That means, similar to Aura, once used, it cannot be recovered… they can only be dismissed, and Takeru would have to wait for his Aura to recover to summon them again...

The two Takeru just summoned are different. Even if their stamina is consumed, they can recover it by resting a bit...

Over these days, besides developing this Nen Beast-like Shadow Corps, Takeru hadn't neglected other abilities. His use of Ryu and Ko had also become very proficient.

He also trained in the various categories: Enhancement-type stone striking… shattering a thousand stones with one stone within a day.

Transmutation-type… changing Aura's form: making the numbers 1 through 9 with Aura within one minute, with the ultimate goal being within five seconds.

Emission-type… emitting Aura from the fingertips to form a sphere for one minute, then shooting it at a target several meters away.

Manipulation-type… floating using hand power, keeping the body still, using emitted Aura to make the body float.

As for the final Conjuration-type, there wasn't a set method, so Takeru just continuously conjured ordinary utensils, furniture, and Shadow Persons for practice...

Today was the seventh day since Takeru and the others arrived on the island. During this time, two extra characters had come to cause trouble for Takeru and Umaru, but Umaru dealt with them easily. However, neither of them had their number tags, clearly having been taken by someone else.

Umaru merely gave them a good lesson without taking their lives, and Takeru didn't mind this...

Heading towards the starting point, Takeru and Umaru heard the guide's voice coming from the cruise ship.

"The fourth phase is now officially over. Please return to the starting point as soon as possible to report. Starting now, there is a one-hour buffer time. Please return to the starting point within that time!"

"Additionally, any exchange of number tags after returning to the starting point will be invalid. Once such behavior is determined, immediate elimination will follow. Please be careful."
