Chapter 22 - Chapter 22- The Mansion

Amara's POV :

My phone rang at ten AM, unknown number, and I almost didn't answer.

But something made me pick up.

"Hello?"

"It's Roman." His voice was short. "Come to my place at noon, I'm sending you the address."

"Wait, what?" I sat up on my couch. "Your place?"

"I have meetings all morning, can't get to the office, we'll work from here."

"I don't think that's—"

"Noon, don't be late." He hung up.

I stared at my phone, annoyed.

A text came through with an address in Westchester.

I sat there debating if I should just ignore it, tell him I couldn't make it, that his house was too personal, too much.

But I'd come this far and wasted too much time already, I couldn't stop now when we were finally close to something real.

I got up and got ready, i threw on jeans and a sweater, nothing fancy.

---

The train to Westchester took forty minutes and the whole time I kept thinking about how weird this was, how his home felt different than conference rooms at Vale.

More personal.
