Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: The Aurors

Bill led Sherlock into The Burrow. There was a two-year age difference between them, and they had been two grades apart when they attended Hogwarts.

"I heard you also got twelve O.W.L.s? And then applied to the Ministry of Magic as an Auror?"

Among the Weasley family children, aside from the fourth and fifth children, George and Fred, who were a bit troublesome, the two eldest brothers, Bill and Charlie, were both gentle-tempered.

However, the eldest pursued individuality and eventually chose to work as a Curse Breaker at Gringotts in Egypt, while the second eldest loved dragons and went to Romania to become a dragon tamer.

Sherlock nodded calmly in response to Bill's question.

"I originally wanted to apply to the Auror Office's combat department at the Ministry of Magic to gain experience, but they thought I was more suited to researching magic in a clerical department. Eventually, due to a disagreement over the position, I resigned after working for more than a year."

Bill shrugged.

"Actually, even if you don't become an Auror, being a Curse Breaker is quite good. Our profession isn't just boringly sitting in an office waving a wand; there are many adventures outside."

"Becoming a Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor at Hogwarts is my greatest aspiration. Applying to be an Auror was only because Professor Dumbledore didn't think I was qualified enough at the time. Now I've taken on the position I wanted."

Sherlock naturally couldn't easily change the Original Owner's pursuits and ideals, and Bill expressed his admiration for this.

"I didn't expect Professor Dumbledore to actually hire a young man in his early twenties as a professor, especially a Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. This also shows that he trusts your abilities."

"Naturally."

"However, regarding your joining the Order of the Phoenix, my parents and others seem to have different opinions than Professor Dumbledore. I expect they will have a dispute about this during dinner."

Sherlock frowned slightly.

"Why is that?"

"I'm not sure, but dinner is about to start, so you should find out the reason soon."

Although The Burrow was called The Burrow, it only looked old and simple. In fact, it could usually accommodate seven children and a pair of parents, and the number of rooms and the size of the living room were not small.

After Bill gave Sherlock a brief tour of The Burrow, they walked out and arrived at the garden.

A long table, about ten meters long, had already been set up there, with a light-colored tablecloth neatly spread over it. Besides the abundant food, there were also three vases placed at equal intervals, filled with fresh flowers of various colors.

Many people had already arrived in the garden, totaling about twenty or thirty.

Sherlock saw a crazy old man with a limp, a magical eye, and a fierce expression, as well as a tall, bald, dark-skinned middle-aged wizard with a golden earring.

Chatting with them was a young witch with a pale, heart-shaped face. She had bright emerald-green hair and dark, lively eyes, wearing a Strange Sisters shirt that most rebellious girls her age liked—clearly a lively person.

As Sherlock observed this trio of old, young, and middle-aged individuals, the dark-skinned wizard also noticed him.

He looked at Sherlock with a somewhat heavy gaze, yet couldn't hide the surprise in his eyes. He stopped talking to the disabled crazy old man and the young witch and quickly walked over to Sherlock.

"It's been a long time, Sherlock. The last time we met was two years ago when I said goodbye to you at the Ministry of Magic."

The middle-aged wizard seemed to know his cold personality and dislike for overly intimate contact, so he only gave Sherlock a light hug.

Sherlock did not avoid it.

He recognized this wizard with very distinctive features.

This person appeared in the Original Owner's diary and photos.

Kingsley Shacklebolt, one of the Aurors close to Dumbledore, and also very supportive of the Original Owner at the Ministry of Magic, considered one of the few people the Original Owner was willing to interact with.

And that disabled crazy old man was also someone Sherlock had seen in the Original Owner's diary.

Alastor Moody, the most famous Auror of the British Ministry of Magic.

His most famous feat was in the 1970s, during the peak of Lord Voldemort's power: he did not illegally use Unforgivable Curses in battles against Death Eaters, and he brought many Aurors who had joined the Death Eaters back to the right path. (TN: Wth? This isn't even in canon. He also used Unforgivable as they declared martial law during that time, right? I may be wrong)

His damaged eye and leg, as well as his numerous scars, were all left from his heroic battles against Death Eaters and Dark Wizards.

From his willingness to persuade Aurors who had become Death Eaters to mend their ways, it could be seen that the young Moody was a brave, tolerant, and dedicated wizard.

But as he aged, he slowly became suspicious and irritable.

However, he got along very well with the Original Owner at the Ministry of Magic. He believed that with the Original Owner's abilities, if he joined the Auror combat department, he would definitely become a brilliant new star in the Ministry of Magic in the future, and for this, he repeatedly helped the Original Owner submit applications to the Ministry.

It was precisely because of this that the Original Owner's relationship with him was even better than with Kingsley.

After Kingsley came to Sherlock's side, Moody, along with the young witch beside him, also gathered around.

"Long time no see, Sherlock. I hear you're already a professor at Hogwarts."

Moody's voice was hoarse and rough, matching his appearance.

"I've long known that your abilities are sufficient for this position, but if you continued to stay in the Auror Office, you would definitely have a more promising future."

"My dream was to become a professor at Hogwarts. Even the Minister for Magic doesn't have a future as promising in my eyes."

Upon hearing Sherlock's words, Moody not only didn't get angry but burst into laughter.

"Even after two years, you're still the same old you."

Kingsley pulled the young witch over and introduced her to Sherlock.

"This is Nymphadora Tonks, a Hufflepuff one year below you. She graduated from Hogwarts last summer and is now undergoing professional training as an Auror. Her talent is excellent, and she will become an outstanding Auror in the future, while also possessing righteous ideals and ambitions. So, I brought her to meet Dumbledore at today's gathering."

He was about to introduce Sherlock to Tonks again, but Tonks excitedly interrupted his unspoken words.

"No need to introduce Mr. Cavendish to me again. I already knew him in my second year, and I even confessed to him in my fourth year."

As soon as she uttered these shocking words, the surrounding people stared wide-eyed, momentarily unsure what to say.
