On a normal school day was a young girl away from others. She was sitting in the shade away from all the kids who were playing. No one came to ask her to play or have a talk with her. They left her alone, so of course she did just that, be in isolation. That was until she heard a voice.
"Why hello there little friend!" The female voice yelled behind them.
"Who are you?" The little girl said.
The female voice came from a girl in a white dress. The dress had red and pink woven flower patterns on it. She also wore a flappy hat with a pink ribbon and red roses on it. The little girl stared in awe at her beautiful apparel.
"I'm your imaginary friend! My name is Scarlet. Pleasure to be with you!" Scarlet said with a wide smile.
"My name is Kirai Yono. It's nice to meet you." Kirai said while being very quiet.
Scarlet didn't seem to like this and took Kirai's hand. She started to spin around with her and did it until both tumbled. Though that hurted Kirai a bit, she didn't mind it. This was the one time where she truly felt happy in school.
"Hahaha! Wasn't that fun!" Scarlet yelled while laughing.
"Yes it was." Kirai said with a small grin.
Kirai knew that she wasn't real, but she didn't care. Kirai ran and went to hug her and started to tear up little. Scarlet puts her hand on her head and comforts her.
"Don't worry. If no one becomes your friend. Then I'll gladly be yours." Scarlet said while hugging Kirai.
Kirai doesn't say anything, but she nods to her words. After a bit she moves away and starts to walk towards the school. But Scarlet holds her hand and stops her.
"What? I need to go to my class." Kirai said with confusion.
"Promise we'll play again." Scarlet said with a hint of anxiety.
Kirai holds her pinky up and says "I promise! We'll play again.".
Scarlet does it to and so they both make a pinky promise. Kirai goes into the school waving goodbye to her new friend. Scarlet waves goodbye and just as fast as she came, she dissappear as fast. Kirai looks back and she was already gone.
"Come on Kirai!" An adult yelled making Kirai run to the school.
"Right I'm coming! I made a new friend." Kirai said with a big smile.
After some periods they were allowed to do anything. Some kids talk, some played, but Kirai was the only one who was drawing. She was drawing scarlet with crayons and it of course looked like a child's drawing.
"Hey Kirai, what are you drawing?" The teacher said with curiosity.
"I'm drawing my new friend I made." Kirai said while not looking at the teacher.
"...I see. Well keep on drawing." The teacher said while having a weird smile on her face.
When school ended, she starts to head home. Walking and walking across town, then walking on a bridge until she gets to her house.
She goes to the back of her house to see her mother's grave. She goes to the grave and kneels down and prays. After that she starts to tell what happened. Kirai talks about her new friend and shows her a picture.
"Look mom! This is my new friend. I wish you were here still with me." Kirai said with sorrow.
Before she could give her final prayer a bunny came and layed on her lap. The bunny had a orange ribbon around their neck. Kirai was curious and petted it and it chipped.
"Oh your so cute! Wait while I finish my prayer." Kirai said while putting the bunny down to do her last prayer.
After she does her final prayer she takes the bunny inside the her house. She goes to the fridge and starts to prepare a dish made of carrots. After a little she comes back with a plate of finely chopped carrots.
"Here you go bunny." Kirai said putting the plate down for the bunny.
The bunny started to quickly inhale the carrots and Kirai just stared. She thought the bunny was not normal, she felt the stomach and it had no heartbeat. She paid no mind to it and just remembered something.
"Right! I should get you some water. Stay here." Kirai said while getting up to go get some water.
Once she gets to the kitchen she search for any bowls and finds a small one. She pours water in the bowl and carefully brings it to the table. She puts it down and sees the plate that was once full empty.
"Your at hungry one aren't you? Here, some water." Kirai said while caressing the ears.
After the bunny drinks the water she puts all the dishes away. Then she heard the door creaking and went to go check. The bunny on the table disappeared and the front door was open.
Kirai shuts the door and goes to prepare her food. She sits and eats her dinner, made up rice and a pickled plum. Then puts her dishes away and goes to sleep on a futon. She drifts off to sleep and has a peaceful dream. Memories upon memories appear in her mind, Kirai looked at them and soon those memories, shattered. After that she wakes up.
