Chapter 1 - 1992

I'm asleep in the barn. It's pretty quiet. Smell isn't getting much past my swollen nostrils.

I pick through it all day. All kinds of things in there: dirt, hair mostly. All encrusted by dried goo that's like an egg white kind of.

I eat em.

I live out here most of the time, because I'm helping my aunt Tami and Uncle Joji.

I'm helping them with the farm.

It's kinda nice. Before this, I was living in the city for a long time. Everything being loud and bright and sharp for so long. I grew to match it. Another reason I mostly stay out here.

Outside, it's Fall. Crispy. Chilly. All those words a bartender might put on a menu to get you excited to get drunk again.

I'm about nine years old I think. I don't have a birthday, sometimes people make a joke that it's Christmas because I'm nobody's child. A child of God. I don't really like it when they sneer it. Sinners and all. Like I'm a by product of their pleasure. Just to be barely tolerated once a week.

But here I can all the feed I can stuff myself by. and some milk too. Then I go have supper in the house and we chat. While Tami types and Joji mostly tries to keep the television loud enough to make it a bother. They're recording everything I say on this big reel to reel and she transcribes it.

Then I go get in the bath. That's when sometimes I get to play dress up in the big walk in closet and we listen to records.
