Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Dont test me

(Keifer's POV)

I woke up because something fell.

Like actually fell.

A loud crash.

I shot up.

"What the—"

Honey was standing near the door.

Holding a broken lamp.

"…It attacked me."

I stared at her.

"You tripped."

She looked down.

"…Maybe."

I rubbed my face.

"What are you doing in my room at 7 AM?"

She walked in like she owned the place.

"Breakfast."

"That's downstairs."

"I know."

Silence.

I blinked.

"…Why are you in my room."

She shrugged.

"You don't wake up to alarms."

"I do."

"You snoozed it six times."

I grabbed the pillow and threw it at her.

She dodged.

"You're insufferable."

"You're late."

That got me up.

Kitchen was already loud.

Maids moving.

Plates clinking.

Honey sitting at the table scrolling on her phone like she lived there.

I stopped mid-step.

"Why are you here."

She didn't look up.

"For breakfast."

"You have a house."

"I know."

I stared at her.

She took a sip of juice.

"You maids cook better."

Unbelievable.

I sat down.

Eggs.

Toast.

Coffee.

Honey leaned over the table.

"You're grumpy."

"I just woke up."

"You've been grumpy for a week."

My hand paused.

I didn't answer.

She smirked.

"Oh."

"Shut up."

School was louder than usual.

Section E was already screaming when I walked in.

Cin was arguing with David.

Robin was on someone's desk.

Someone threw paper.

Normal.

I scanned the room.

She wasn't there.

My chest tightened.

Don't overthink it.

She's just late.

Robin noticed me staring.

"Oooh. Looking for someone?"

I glared at him.

He grinned wider.

"Relax. She's not kidnapped."

Cin gasped dramatically.

"Who?!"

"NO ONE," Robin snapped.

The door opened.

Jay walked in.

My heartbeat actually betrayed me.

She froze when she saw me.

Just for a second.

Then she walked to her seat.

Didn't look at me again.

I clenched my jaw.

Robin immediately stood up.

"JAYYYYY."

He followed her.

Talking.

Too close.

She swatted his arm.

"Move."

He laughed.

I was watching.

Too closely.

Robin leaned toward her again.

She pushed his shoulder.

He pretended to fall.

Everyone laughed.

I didn't.

My desk creaked under my grip.

Edrix noticed.

"…Oh no."

Rory whispered, "He's in murder mode."

"I'm not," I said flatly.

I was.

Lunch bell rang.

Chaos exploded.

Section E ran out like prisoners escaping.

Jay walked out slower.

Alone.

Robin was distracted by food.

Good.

I followed her.

She didn't notice.

She reached the hallway near the washrooms.

She stepped out of the washroom.

I grabbed her wrist.

Pulled her into the empty side corridor.

She gasped.

"Keifer—"

My hand covered her mouth.

"Lower your voice."

Her eyes widened.

I let go slowly.

"You like making me look stupid?" I asked.

She frowned. "What?"

"Laughing with him."

"I was just—"

"I saw."

My jaw tightened.

I stepped closer.

Close enough that her back touched the wall.

"You think I didn't notice?"

Her breathing changed.

"So what?" she shot back. "You were the one ignoring me."

A sound left my throat.

Low.

Not loud.

But enough.

"Don't test me."

Her fingers curled into my shirt.

"You don't get to disappear for a week and then growl at me."

I leaned down.

Our noses almost touching.

"I was trying not to touch you."

Silence.

Heavy.

Her lips parted slightly.

That was my mistake.

My hand slid to her waist.

Pulled her flush against me.

"And then you stand there laughing like I don't exist."

Her pulse was racing.

I could feel it.

"I didn't like it," I said.

Quiet.

Dangerous.

She swallowed.

"You were jealous."

I let out a slow breath against her lips.

"You have no idea."

And then I kissed her.

Not soft.

Not hesitant.

It wasn't sweet.

It was claiming.

Her hands gripped my collar.

For a second she froze.

Then she kissed back.

And that—

That made something snap.

I deepened it.

Slow.

Controlled.

But intense.

My thumb pressed into her waist.

Not hurting.

Just holding.

Like I needed to make sure she was real.

She tried to pull back for air.

I followed.

Just a little.

A low sound left my throat again.

"I wasn't done."

Her cheeks were flushed.

Eyes dazed.

"You're insane," she whispered.

"Maybe."

I brushed my thumb over her lower lip.

"Don't make me watch you laugh with someone else again."

"You don't own me."

My jaw flexed.

I leaned in again.

Short kiss.

Firm.

Possessive.

"Maybe not."

I stepped back slowly.

"But don't forget who you kissed."

Her breath hitched.

I straightened my shirt.

Voice calm again.

"Fix yourself before you go back."

And I walked away first.

Because if I stayed—

I would've ruined both of us.

When I returned with snacks, Section E attacked me.

"FOOD!"

"GIVE!"

"KEIFER I'M STARVING!"

I didn't even try to organize them.

I just started tossing packets.

David caught one mid-air.

Cin missed hers and screamed.

And somehow Robin appeared and tried to grab two.

I smacked his hand.

"Greedy."

Jay came in quietly.

Sat down.

Avoiding eye contact.

Cute.

I walked over casually.

Dropped a snack on her desk.

Her fingers brushed mine.

She looked up.

Still flustered.

Good.

Cin narrowed her eyes.

"…Why does she get the good one."

I tossed one at Cin.

Then one at David.

"Equal treatment."

Robin gasped.

"I feel unloved."

"Good."

Jay tried not to smile.

I saw it anyway.

And for the first time in a week—

I wasn't mad.
