Opening his eyes Ash had once again found himself in the room he had been in before.
It didn't take long for the door to open, coming in through it was the same doctor that was with him last time.
"Have you calmed down?"
He asked while looking Ash in the eyes, Ash could only roll his eyes and look at the ceiling.
"I guess. As much as I could when confronted with the reality that my arm is gone."
"That's good to hear, then I guess you won't have anymore tantrums."
"Tantrum? ... no I won't."
Then the doctor moved closer to his bed and clicked a button on its side.
"What did you do?"
"I released the harness."
'I was restrained?'
Ash hadn't noticed the tight harness around his waist till now, but upon the button being pressed he did indeed feel freer.
"So then... Ash Luchassi. I came to you with an offer, I was gonna offer it to you last time, but then you had your... episode so I couldn't offer it."
"An offer?"
"Yes, it's a form of compensation, since we were partly at fault too."
Hearing the admittance of guilt Ash didn't say anything, he just rolled his eyes before speaking up.
"So what is this offer exactly?"
The doctor briefly paused, before taking something out from a suitcase that he'd been carrying.
"You can look at the screen and decide between the options, but it's basically a cybernatic arm."
He was then handed the tablet on its screen were displayed arms of different variety.
"I don't really know much about cybernetics, I don't know what to even look for."
"If you'd like I can give you a run down or recommendation based on what you are searching for."
Ash took a brief look at the offers available before quickly speaking up as he pointed to the screen.
"I don't need any of this fancy gadgetry, I want the arm that has the best control."
Ash could only scoff at the choices presented, each having weird gadgets withing them like cannons or electric wires. He needed none of that, he was a swordman not some clown.
"Well we can certainly offer one like that, but the difference in control isn't too different when compared to these modells and you'd be losing out on extra weaponry, as a combat class student you would surely need more weapons right?"
"Why is there such a small focus on actually making them well controllable?"
The doctor paused for a moment before opening his mouth.
"Cybernetics are most often used by metal attribute Users, people that have lost a limb are actually a minority. It's simply following the needs of the market."
No matter how much he hated it, he couldn't deny that the reason made sense.
Ash had heard it before that metal attribute Users were able to endure more cybernetics and also enjoyed greater control over them. It made sense that they were most popular among them.
Ash sighed slightly, trying to mentally distance himself from the situation, even though he was the one most impacted.
"Haa, it'll be fine, I still want that one. I don't care about these gadgets at all."
Hearing his words the doctor slowly took the tablet and put it away.
"Then it seems a decision has been made. I'll be taking my leave, I'll notify you once the item has arrived afterwhich we can begin rehabilitation. We should be done in time for the opening ceremony."
"The opening ceremony?"
"Ah yes, you didn't hear it since you were unconscious. Congratulations Mr. Ash you have been accepted into the esteemed Icarus Academy."
After congratulating Ash the doctor left, leaving Ash there in the room with conflicting feelings.
He got accepted to the academy he wanted to go to, but did it even matter anymore?
He lost his arm and the friend that he had come here searching for was the one responsible.
In the end their friendship was only about a week long, while he wanted to meet him and cling to his only remaining memory of Blackheart and be friends with him again, he simply couldn't.
Ash wasn't such a great person, after what had happened there was no way he could forgive Will.
Especially after the lack of concern he showed, there was simply no way he could forgive him.
So Ash could only lay in his sick bed, with an academy accaptance and a missing arm.
...
It didn't take too long for his arm to arrive and once it arrived it was quickly put in its place.
The arm itself looked basic, nothing too fancy. It just looked like a grey metallic arm.
While it was being attached he was unconcious, but once he came to he quickly tried using it.
It was an odd feeling, the hand reacted to the motions he wanted to relay, but the feeling just wasn't there. It was still clearly not a part of him.
Would this change with time? Maybe? The feeling would never return, but a shadow feeling might replace it.
Now that the arm was in place all he had to do was get used to it during the rehabs.
And while it was indeed weird at first as the days went by its usage became easier and easier.
Using the arm was slowly getting more and more comfortable.
During the duration of his rehad, Ash was not able to leave the hospital as such he was somewhat bored.
His only piece of entertainment were the TV shows and videos he was provided with during his stay.
While staying there he also learned what happened in the academy after his departure.
The information he got were from the doctors and occasional passerbys, in the end it was still very lacking, but it proved enough to paint a somewhat clear picture of what had happened since.
After the incident it seems the ones that took the fall were Chase and that Colonel, with Chase being disqualified while the Colonel received a demotion.
As for what happened after with the tournament?
It was a truly unbelievable situation as it seemed that the match he took place in was the last real one, as the other finalist besides Will was one of his "friends" who willingly gave the position of victor to Will.
Naturally this became a giant rumor around town along with Ash's injury.
People collectively complained about the lack of sportsmanship during this years entrance exams.
No real finals and a life altering injury, it was fair to say that Icarus was under large scrutiny. And as the owner of the academy even the SCC saw some negative press being garnered.
And as if that wasn't enough another controversy arose just after those ones started dying down.
It seems that this year there were somehow four Special Admission Students instead of the usual three.
There were attempts to verify their authenticity, but all four seemed to be the real deal.
As such this year of the four classes that were started all were headed by Special Admission Students intead of one of them being headed by the exam tournament winner.
Luckily for the people of the SCC and Icarus this controversy didn't receive nearly as much outrage, in part thanks to people's general dislike for Will and how the tournament was handled.
Ash slowly stood up from his bed, supporting his body with his metallic arm.
'It still feels weird.'
He remarked in his head, unable to get used to the sensation.
That was when the door opened and through it came a face that Ash was familiar with.
"Are you ready Kiddo?"
Caesar spoke to Ash with an enthusiastic voice.
"Just a sec."
Ash said as he was putting on his new suit.
He had it made specifically for the opening ceremony, still this was the first time he had actually tried it on.
There were moments where he was concerned, but it seemed that it was perfectly sized, just as ordered.
"Looks good."
"Really? Am I not overdressing?"
Hearing Ash's concern Ceasar audibly laughed before lightly covering his mouth.
"Haha, there is no way, actually you still might be considered underdressed."
"Really?"
"Come on Ash, this academy has the richest of aristocrats from all around attending, there is no way in hell will you stick out. Well actually..."
Ash could hear it in his tone, but still asked it.
"Actually what?"
"Well you are somewhat famous now because of you arm and all you know."
As he said this he was grinning slightly.
"Can't you atleast pretend to show some concern for me?"
Hearing Ash's words Caesar was taken aback.
"Oh, but I did do that when I first saw you a few days ago."
"And what has changed?"
"Nothing has changed, I just think enjoying the spotlight isn't a bad thing. Losing an arm might be bad and all, but atleast you get to bask in some glory as a return. Most that lose it get nothing."
"Sure I'll try to have fun."
"That's the spirit."
"Then are you ready?"
Ash looked around the room he had been in for the last two weeks, before answering.
"Yes, I'm ready."
