Chapter 66 - The Beginning of the Year

Anton looked at Ash's arm before he spoke up.

"I'm sorry about your arm, it was our mistake."

Ash hearing the apology from even someone as big as Anton didn't know how to feel.

Then he opened his mouth asking a singular question.

"The sticker... charm thing. Why is it single use?"

"Well since getting it activated usually means you are out, we didn't see a reason to have it work without being reset before. It's also cheaper this way."

Anton was honest not even attempting to lie to Ash.

Ash aslo didn't have it in him to feel even an ounce of resentment towards this man, if he resented someone that would be Will.

Then he asked another question.

"Do you have some connection to Belle?"

"To her? None, I have none."

Ash could see that he was seemigly not lying, it seemed the comment he said was really just a comment and nothing else.

Then Ash slowly got up from the railings and headed out from the training hall.

"Well then goodbye Mister Chairman."

"Goodbye, Ash."

...

It was an eventful few days after that.

With his class decided and being dismissed from the hospital Ash was now able to move into his dorm room.

Upon arriving before it he was suprised to find the room quite spacious.

And it was also his alone, no roommates or anything of the sort.

It was just a nice spacious room all for himself.

It was nice suprise for him since he had already somewhat mentally prepared himself for potentially having roommates, yet it not being the case was certainly a positive for him.

As such he quickly unpacked all the things Caesar had brought for him.

Clothes, shoes and a few other items and put them all into the pre-existing wardrobes and drawers.

Then he went around and gotten more familiar with his surroundings.

The campus was large so there was much to get familiar with.

Cafeteria, the way the classes were numbered, the way into the city, the nearby stores. He checked out it all.

In the end while uneventful Ash felt he had spent these last few days before the year began well.

Getting familiar with where on lives could never be a bad thing.

And with that the days kept on going and it was soon time for the year to truly begin.

It was a somewhat normal morning, Ash had just woken up to his alarm.

As he looked outside the window he could see the sun already somewhat high up.

He didn't have to wake up early.

Just one of the many perks of living like three minutes for the academy.

He slowly got up from his bed and put on his uniform.

It was a white shirt with a distinct logo on it.

Then he put on his black pants and was fully ready to leave for class.

Checking once again if everything was in place Ash headed out of his dorm room into the corridor.

Walking outside it was very busy with all the students new and old leaving for class.

Following with much of the crowd Ash headed deeper into the academy.

It really only took three or so minutes before he arrived before what was supposedly his classroom.

Before the classroom stood a sign on which was written one simple thing.

'Class 1-B'

This was certainly his class, yet he was still reluctant to step into it.

That was when someone tapped him on the shoulder and soon the one responsible also spoke up.

"Aren't you gonna go in?"

"I was just about to."

Hearing Ash's words Ilyana's expression showed that she was clearly doubtful.

"Really? I swear I've seen you standing there for about a minute."

"I was just making sure if it's the right class."

"And is it?"

Ilyana asked playfully.

"Yes, it is most certainly our class."

"Then what are we waiting for?"

Saying this she took Ash's hand and pulled him into the class.

Entering the class all eyes were quickly focused on them.

But luckily for Ash Ilyana quickly let go of his hands sparing them the annoying rumors.

It was only now that he was fully inside the class that Ash could see just how large it was.

It was nothing like the classroom he had back in the orphanage.

It was large and high tech, it truly spoke of both the fact that this was one of the best academies and of the fact that this class would house around fifty students.

Along with it's large size the people stood out.

He didn't know many of them, but during his time since the opening ceremony he tried his hardest to get familiar with a few of his soon to be classmates.

Not by making friends with the, but simply through studying up on them,

As such now he had a decent idea of who the important people were.

At the front of the class stood a girl with long white hair, chatting with a few of her friends.

She was Sarah Mercer, she was the daughter of the Mercer family a family that was responsible for some of the biggest hospitals around.

Next to her stood Alice Hale, who was also in a medice related noble family.

Their connection was easy to trace back.

Closer to where he stood around the back of the class stood a boy with a well built body and short black hair.

He was August Moretti, someone from the hugely influential moretti family in charge of large scale weapon manufacturing.

And many other faces stood or sat around the class.

"Hey Ash, wanna sit next to me?"

Ilyana asked Ash while looking for any place to sit.

"Can we do that?"

"Why not? There isn't a seating arrangement or anything."

As there really wasn't one Ash couldn't find a reason to decline her request, especially when she's been so good to him.

He didn't mind sitting next to her as he liked her quite a bit.

Of course not in any special way, but as person he found her rather acceptable or maybe even pleasant.

As such the two went around class searching for any set of seats that peaked their interest.

And then finally decided upon two and sat down.

As the two sat down more and more people started coming to class.

And by now it wasn't long until the bell would sound signalling the beginning of their first class.

And just then as pretty much the last person did he arrive.

Leon von Stern. The head of Class B.

Upon his arrival all heads turned in his direction as he walked into the class.

Some stood up from their seats willing to give it up for the prince, but he simply walked past them.

And then he arrived at the only seat that was still left empty. Not one that was given up by someone because he appeared, but one that was empty even prior to his arrival.

As such Leon simply sat down at the seat before greating his seat mates.

"Nice to meet you! You are Ash right?"

Leon greeted Ash who was lucky to have the seat be the one right next to him.

"Ah, yes your Highness I am Ash."

Hearing his remark Leon couldn't hold it in and laughed.

"Haha, Highness? No need for something like that, just call me Leon. When we are in the academy we are just classmates, so don't be so on alert."

"...Right..."

Finishing his conversation with Ash he went on to greet the others that were around his seat.

And once he finished as if the world itself was waiting for him to finish the bell rang.

Their first class was finally beginning.

It was supposedly a homeroom, which meant that for the first time they'd be meeting their homeroom teacher.

For the first time? I hear you say, but actually their homeroom teacher was one of the few things that they did not know prior to today.

So all the students could only wait anxiously for who might come through those doors.

Would it be one of the renowned professors, someone with great accomplishments?

Or would it be someone infamous, that enjoyed tormenting their students?

None of the students in attendance knew the answer, so all they could do is wait.

And that was when the door opened and through it came a tall black haired professor.

The reactions were instant as most of the students present knew the man as he was someone that many of them have actually met before.

Ash was no different as he also found himself in the crowd of those that knew him.

As he walked to the board he slowly turned towards the anxious crowd before adressing them in stern voice.

"Nice to formally meet everyone. I am Simon Erebus in charge if magic theory and from this moment forth I am also the homeroom teacher of Class 1-B."

It seemed that all the people that needed to be were now in their place.
