Chapter 3 - Egotistical Dumbass

Old man? Yujin's eyebrows furrow. "What-"

He cuts himself off when the guy suddenly closes the distance between them, a gust of wind brushing past him from the sudden speed. The man in black is inches away from him, his glowing yellow eyes squinting as he smiles big from beneath his mask.

Even from this close, Yujin is unable to place who he is or if he's really on the verge of a rampage.

However, he can add another detail to his list of clues. His eyelashes are so long and pale. Distracted by the puzzle before him, Yujin forgets that he's on the defensive.

"You talk too much." He murmurs softly, his voice a low purr that makes the hair on the back of Yujin's neck bristle.

Yujin's purple eyes widen and he grunts when his opponent punches him in the gut. His ribs flare with pain and he's flying across the room. Something in his back cracks when he slams into the wall, the surface crumbling from the sudden force.

The breath is knocked out of Yujin and he gasps as he struggles to his feet, rubble falling to the floor beneath him.

Holy monster shit, did that guy just sucker punch him? One hand clutches his abdomen as Yujin stands up straight and glares at the bastard who now stands in front of the pillar.

His hands grip the glass dome that holds the high rank item, but before he can lift it, Yujin pulls out a dagger from the strap on his thigh and throws it at him. There's a barely audible whoosh as it flies through the air, the tip inches away from driving into the man's forearm. Before it can make contact though, the bastard snatches the handle with quick reflexes.

"You recovered quickly." He chuckles, the sound grating on Yujin's nerves. The guy spins the handle of the blade between his fingers and shifts his stance. Yujin doesn't acknowledge his words as he stares at the reason he's here.

He isn't leaving without that S-ranked item. Not when he's so close to getting it.

Shifting his gaze back to his opponent, Yujin's nose wrinkles in agitation and he slips back into the shadows, and vanishes from sight.

The time limit continues to count down. Scowling at the window, Yujin flicks it away and it disappears.

The man tuts beneath his breath and scans the room with burning yellow eyes. "You're hiding now?" He mocks.

Yujin clenches his jaw to contain his irritation. He's acting as if everything is a joke. Either he's really got the power to act nonchalant, or he's an egotistical dumbass. Yujin is convinced he's the latter. He just has to be.

Yujin accesses his mana, thick webs of darkness run up his neck, down his torso and over his arms. His purple eyes take on a glowing hue and then darkness swirls into his palm. Yujin builds the power and watches the man through the shadows.

His opponent turns to the glass, his fingers grazing the surface of the dome when Yujin throws the dark sphere. Darkness collides with glass and it shatters. The guy raises his arm to shield his face and Yujin makes his move.

He's out of the shadows that hid his presence and his black webbed hands are wrapping around both sheathed daggers. He steps back into his dark safety net so quickly, he has to crouch down to stop the wave of dizziness that hits him.

When the guy lowers his arm, the S-ranked weapon is gone.

"Oh, okay." The guy chuckles, "I know what you are now." He smirks and scans the rest of the room, eyeing the spots where the shadows are prominent. "You're a dark user, right? Chaos blessed after a chaos blessed item. Makes sense." He shrugs.

Why is he so freaking casual?! He's talking as if guards won't just stumble up on him in a place he isn't supposed to be. They must have heard the sound of broken glass and are rushing here to investigate. He should be leaving already.

"Unfortunately, for you," The guy trails off and chuckles, "Leanou blessed me."

Yujin's purple eyes widen, "Fuck." So he was wrong, then. Yujin knew the guy had to either be on the verge of a rampage or, by some slim chance, had some power of light based on his golden eyes. He figured maybe he'd have luck on his side and the guy just needed some guiding. The universe must really be working against him.

There's a beam of light. The shadows recede and Yujin is thrown out of their cold clutches, left standing in the room with him once more. "Fuck, fuck, fuck." He mutters, hands tightening around the handles of the S-ranked item.

"How about you be a good boy and hand the daggers over, hm?" The smugness in his opponent's voice is thick as he holds a black gloved hand out and curls his fingers in a 'give-me' motion.

A vein in Yujin's neck flares and he scoffs. Who gave this guy the audacity to demand something that isn't his?

Sure, the blessed item wasn't Yujin's either, but it is now. And he's definitely not going to just hand it over.

Shameless is what he is, his mother would say if she had witnessed this. Much like your father was at that age. He lightly shakes his head and focuses on the present.

Yujin glances over his shoulder to the single door. The only way out.

"So annoying." He mumbles under his breath. He was so close to snatching it without any trouble. He can see this situation playing out in a few ways. Yujin fights him for the daggers, and risks getting caught by the guards who are probably already on the way, or two, he gives up now, with no consequences, but also no prize.

Yujin curls his upper lip, neither of those sound appealing to him. . . So, option three it is.

Yujin clears his throat and turns to fully face the man, "They're twin blades," He smiles from beneath his balaclava mask, "How about a split? Fifty fifty?" He holds one blade up to him.
