Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

I snapped out of those thoughts and went to fetch my bag in the kitchen and walked back to where everyone was seated. Wayne was seated at the table with Natasha, which was good for him. Who was I kidding, I felt a little jealous.

I took out my cell phone and it had about six missed calls from Sean. I called back and it rang unanswered. I tried two more times and the same thing happened. I switched my cell phone off and poured another glass of wine. I looked around and everyone was in their own mood; they were enjoying the party without holding back. I smiled. The music volume was lower but not off. I placed my glass down on the table and took my purse and turned my cellphone on again. The time was just after nine o'clock. I got up and I couldn't see Zee nor Luke. I walked to Zama.

"My love," I said.

"Babe," she replied.

"I am going to go back home now. I cannot find Zee but please say my goodbyes to her," I told her.

"Are you sure you can drive back?" she asked.

"Yes babe, I am not that drunk," I said.

"No Beauty, request an Uber at least or a cab," she insisted.

"Uhm," I started, but I was cut off by his deep voice.

"We can drive with her. We are going close and it won't be an inconvenience to drop her off at her house. At least neither Luke nor am I drunk," Wayne said.

"Yes, good idea. We can't let you drive alone," Zama said.

"I have a car and I can't leave it here. Who'll fetch it tomorrow?" I asked.

"I'll drive you. Luke and the others can drive behind us," Wayne said.

"That's if we can find Luke," Natasha added.

"Where did he disappear to khona?" Zama asked. He cleared his throat behind me.

"I am here," Luke said. And Zee appeared too, her hair a bit out of place.

"Beauty is going home. You'll drive with Natasha, and where is Trish?" Zama asked.

"That one is already off. She's sleeping in the spare bedroom," Zee said.

"I will drive with Natasha and Wayne here is driving Beauty to her house, right?" Luke asked.

"Yes," Zama replied.

"Great, can we go people?" I asked. They laughed.

We hugged and said our goodbyes. "Adjust the seat," I said as I stumbled to get into my side of the car. I drove a Renault Captur.

"Your car smells like you," Wayne said. I closed the door and fastened the belt and he did the same.

"Well, it's mine," I replied.

"It was just a comment," he said.

I rolled my eyes and he drove out of the yard.

"I am so tired, I need my bed," I said as I leaned back and closed my eyes.

"You went heavy on the glasses," he noted.

"You were not even there half the time," I told him.

"I was. You just didn't see me," he replied.

"Wow, and you say I was drooling over you? Pshh," I said.

"Lioness, you were, and we are not going to discuss that again," he said. I opened my eyes and looked at him for a brief second and then looked ahead.

"You should tell me about you," I said.

"What do you want to know, Madlomo?" he asked.

"Everything. You said your niece is into art, maybe I could meet her and see her artwork," I suggested.

"Would you really do that?" he asked.

"Yes, and I'm opening another gallery so we could work something out if she's really good. My aim is to bring in new talent," I explained.

"She would really love that. I think I'll call you when you are sober tomorrow," he said.

"You think I'm too drunk to make an appointment now?" I asked.

"I didn't say that," he replied.

"But you are implying it," I said. He looked at me for a brief moment and chuckled.

"You are overthinking it, Madlomo," he said.

"If you say so," I replied.

"I like you. You aren't intimidated by me," he said. I liked him too.

"Why would I be intimidated by you?" I asked.

"Because I'm a healer. I see beyond the naked eye. Many think we are demons as we can communicate with our ancestors. Maybe that?" he asked.

"Well, not everyone sees you like that. You are not a demon but are spiritually gifted and have the powers to communicate with those in the spiritual world. You are the bridge between life and death which we use to communicate with our forefathers. Besides, I don't let my belief in Christ change how I view my own traditional spiritual ways," I said.

"But by that wouldn't you say you are breaking the Ten Commandments?" he asked.

"I am not, because I do not worship my ancestors but I acknowledge them as people who have once lived in this earth and they know how it is," I explained.

"So you are not against it?" he asked.

"No, and I respect your gift. It's powerful," I told him.

"Mhh, okay," he said.

"Yes, and I really need to sleep right now. My body is giving in," I said.

"We are almost there," he replied.

"So I am not at all intimidated nor do I fear you, okay?" I asked. He chuckled and then smiled.

"Okay," he said. We finally arrived at the estate, then to my yard. He parked in the driveway and Luke pulled through too.

"Thank you for driving me," I said.

"My pleasure, have a good night," he replied.

"You too," I said.

"It was nice chilling with you guys. I hope we could do it again soon. I'm really happy we had a good time ," Luke said. Wayne laughed and got in the car.

"Take care of yourself, Madlomo," he said. I smiled.

"Drive safely guys," I said.

They drove out and I took the groceries out of my car trunk and walked into the house. It was dark; the lights were off. I turned on the lights and packed the groceries in their places and walked to my bedroom after. I walked in and Sean was seated on the edge of the bed. I almost screamed.

"Jesus! I thought you weren't here," I said. He didn't answer and who was I to mind him? I changed to my usual sleeping attire; the way I was tired, taking a shower was not on the list. I charged my cell phone. As I turned, he blocked my way.

"Can you move? I'm tired," I said.

"Where were you? And you smell of alcohol," he said.

"I don't owe you an explanation but I am not looking for a fight. I was at Zee's house," I told him.
