Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Buying Land

"Ha ha... Xiao Lin seems to know a lot about tea." The village chief looked at Lin Yi in surprise.

"An elder in the family is a tea collector. So I have a little knowledge." Lin Yi said as he tasted the tea.

"So that's it; it's no wonder Xiao Lin knows about tea. This tea is made in our village houses. There are several old tea trees on the mountain at the edge of the village."

"So several times a year, the villagers pick tea leaves and make tea by hand at their homes. It has now become a tradition in this village."

The village chief told Lin Yi the story of tea.

Hearing what the village chief said, Lin Yi's curiosity about Peach Blossom Village increased even more. Not only that, but as he tasted the tea, he wondered what his life in this village would be like in the future.

In the morning, after eating white rice porridge and steamed buns prepared by the village chief's wife, Lin Yi went to see the land with the village chief. Along the way, they met several villagers, and the village chief did not forget to introduce them to Lin Yi. The village chief first took Lin Yi to see a piece of land that was right in the middle of the village.

"This land belonged to an old man in the village. But all his children had moved to the city, so after his death, the children decided to sell the land."

The village chief said as he showed Lin Yi the land.

Although the land was not very large, it was about a quarter of an acre, and there was an old brick house of 50 square meters, an old peach tree and a lychee tree in the front yard, and plenty of space for cultivation in the back of the house.

Lin Yi was intrigued by the sight, but he hesitated to choose that piece of land because it was separated from the two lands on either side by a wooden fence, and the villagers' houses on both sides were built next to this house.

Therefore, he knew that if he bought this piece of land, it would be difficult for him to live the free life he hoped for. Lin Yi did not want to live alone, but he preferred to live a somewhat solitary life with occasional socializing. For that reason, he decided to reject the first piece of land he saw. Lin Yi didn't want to live alone, but he liked to live a somewhat solitary life with occasional socializing. For that reason, he decided to reject the land he first looked at.

"What do you think about this land, Xiao Lin?"

"But, if you buy this, you'll have to build a new house, because it's a very old brick house, and the walls have cracked in some places."

Seeing Lin Yi was in thoughts, the village chief asked.

"The land is good, of course. Anyway, I'm planning to build a new house, so there's no problem with the house."

"But the houses here are too close together, so let's give this one up." When the village chief asked, Lin Yi didn't hide his thoughts.

The village chief, who heard Lin Yi's idea, removed several similar lands from the list that he was going to look at next. They next went to look at a piece of land on the edge of the village, where there was an abandoned house.

The land was about an acre, and the house was built on the side of the road leading to the land. There was a bamboo forest at the far end of the land, and there was a large amount of space left to cultivate. But you could tell by the grass covering the land that it had been abandoned for a long time.

"This land has been abandoned for about 10 years now. It's a bit far from the other houses in the village, so I think this would be a good choice for you."

The village chief introduced the land to Lin Yi, thinking that he would like it. Although Lin Yi had a good impression of the land, he didn't show it much. Because they hadn't gone to see the place he was curious about yet.

"This land is good even though it's covered in forest. But it would be better if we looked at the other places first."

"Also, village chief, where is the land with the cave that you said last night?" Lin Yi asked the village chief out of great curiosity.

"Oh, Xiao Lin wants to see that land? I thought you might not like it, so I was going to see that land last. If Xiao Lin wants to see it, let's go."

"The land is on the other side of this land, a little further into the village." The village chief said to Lin Yi while pointing in the direction.

Then the two of them went to see the land. On the way, they met several people from the village, and they didn't forget to stop and chat for a while.

"Oh, Chief, where is this village you're going to? It seems that relatives have come home."

One of them asked the village chief while looking at Lin Yi. Seeing who he was asking about, the village chief quickly introduced Lin Yi to them.

"This is Lin Yi, but he's not my relative. Xiao Lin came here to buy land and settle here. Mr. Chen was the one who introduced Lin Yi to this village."

The village chief said while patting Lin Yi on the shoulder. After the village chief introduced him to the others, Lin Yi didn't forget to say hello to them.

"Hello."

"Hello, it's nice to meet you. My name is Zhang Si; you can call me Uncle Si. How is our village? Did you find a piece of land that caught your eye?"

"Nowadays, many young people in the village are struggling to move to the city, but it's great to see a young man moving to the village."

Zhang Si kept asking questions. However, when he found out that Lin Yi was moving to the village, his face showed that he was very happy.
