Chapter 1 - THE GIRL WHO WEARS A HAT.

Ahhh!!"

Whosh."Help me!" She screamed at the top of her voice, but all she heard in response was the unsettling whooshing sound that came from the thick mass of smoke, moving in circles, trying to keep her in place.

Everything was pitch black.

The ground was spinning…

If she takes a step forward, she would sink.

A Burst of light would appear in dark sky,

and a hand that keeps trying to pull her out.

The moment she grabs onto the veiny male hand dangling from above her, she would wake up with sweat all over her body.

This was the dream Olivia DeVille has been having since her 16 yrs old birthday.

She'll be 18 soon. But the dream wouldn't stop, instead it came more often and the scenes were becoming more clearer. Today wasn't any different.

She glanced at her bedside clock as she made her way to the bathroom. It was 6:35am in the morning and her first day at Oakswoven highschool.

She looked in the mirror, staring deeply at her sleepy reflection.

Nothing should change. As long as she doesn't draw any attention, graduating high school should be a piece of cake.

All she has to do at her new school is ignore everybody, except the teachers.

She gave a dry smile at the thought of it. Crouched down to pet Gio, a chubby midnight black cat with blue eyes, who kept circling her feet.

"its a fresh new start, Gio" she whispered at him.

"Meow…" the cat purred and licked her fingers.

A teenager with different eye colors and long silvery hair, isn't something you see on a regular day.

At her old school, she was the center of attraction, no matter how hard she tried to refute it. Which automatically led to her being admired, bullied and haters spreading weird rumors about her.

Everyone had their own way of reacting to an abnormality, it was Olivia's fate to deal with them.

She spent the next hour trying to get ready for school. Her new uniform wore a brown plaid skirt and light blue shirt, together with a brown plaid blazer with the Oakswoven crest on the right side.

A pair of container shoes that every regular highschooler had to wear.

Ivy Deville. Her sister and only family were downstairs waiting for her.

"Where's your hat, Olly?" Ivy asked. then proceed to tuck in her collar.

"We're not allowed to wear hats." she mumbled and walked past her sister to get to the car.

"i've had a chat with your new homeroom teacher, you're an exception"

"why? What did you say to them?! Making me an exception is a sure way to draw attention!" Olivia snapped at her sister, Ivy would always do things like this without her permission, it's draining.

"the girl with 'silver hair' or the girl who always wears a hat. Which one makes a better plot?" Ivy retorted, her voice draping with annoyance.

She's been watching over Olivia since their parents death, they've come this far together but never got along.

"Go get your hat sweetie, this is a fresh start, let's make things easier for ourselves."

"Fine" Olivia gave up. Her eyes blurred with traces of tears as she stormed her way back upstairs to get the Hat.

When she came down another round of nagging was waiting for her.

Subtly, she turned off her ears and allowed the sound of Ivy's itchy voice to flow past her all throughout the drive to the school gate.

Not that there's anything new she's gonna say. Just the usual 'Always keep your hat on.' and stuff like that.

The new school, Oakswoven highschool was located at the outskirts of Oakland county. She had seen it one very day they had moved into town.

The brick walls were a lot higher than the school gate, you could see the classes and old rusting windows from outside.

Ivy said she had heard about the school from a colleague at work, the place was known for its nobility and orderliness. It was rare to find bullying scandals and the students' grades remained at the top in the states. It sounded like the perfect place to breed her sister, Olly. Without any weird rumors and accusations.

Olivia alighted from the Volkswagen car that her sister has been driving for as long as she could remember.

"Have a great day at school Olly."

"Thanks."She managed a smile. Turned around and walked into the school premises while Ivy drove off to work.

Olivia found her way to the principal's office without any help.

Wrote her name down and introduced herself like she had been training her entire life for this day to come.

The principal was a cheerful chubby middle aged woman. She smiled at Olivia and took her to her new class.

"Attention everyone, we have a new transfer student." the principal shrill voice rang out, and silence followed.

Olivia stepped forward, adjusted her hat and forced a smile.

"Hi everyone, I'm Olivia DeVille. Transferred from Railbury highschool. Nice to meet you all."

The class chorused a 'Nice to meet you too.' then a male voice chipped in.

"Mrs Deen, is she allowed to wear a hat?"

Olivia froze. They wouldn't ask her to take it off. would they?

"Go find a seat sweetie." Mrs Deen whispered to Olivia and turned to face the class.

"She's allowed to wear a hat, because of reasons best known to us." she spoke with an air of authority.

Murmurs filled the class room, Olivia found an Empty seat at the far end of the class and settled for the day.

Surprisingly, the students didn't question nor try to indulge her. They were all focused on their class activities.

During lunch, a short skinny girl made her way to Olivia's desk.

"Hi…Do you want to have lunch with me?" she fiddled with her fingers.

Olivia blinked at her, wondering If she should refuse.

"The name's Beverly." she smiled.

Her hair was packed up in a messy bun and she had thick framed glasses like herself.

Olivia nodded.

Accepting her invitation, they both headed to the cafeteria.

At the Cafeteria, Everyone was in groups, either eating home made lunch or the school cafeteria food.

A bunch of girls made their way to Olivia's table.

The leader leaned and whispered into her ears.

"Hey new girl, I heard a kid died at your old school."
