Chapter 2 - Cadillac

In the afternoon, the sun was scorching.

Boys' Dormitory.

"Hu…"

Chu Fang woke up, exhaled softly, and wiped the sweat off his forehead.

He'd forgotten to turn on the air conditioner in the morning. The room was so hot it felt suffocating.

He glanced over.

His three roommates were still sleeping soundly each of them happily playing chess with Zhou Gong in their dreams.

Chu Fang climbed out of bed, fumbled around, found the AC remote, and pressed it decisively.

15°C.

Cold air blasted out like an arctic tide, and the room cooled down almost instantly.

"Anyway, I've graduated," Chu Fang muttered. "There's leftover electricity in the dorm… might as well use it."

He grabbed a quilt and wrapped himself up tightly.

Mid-summer.

Outside: 35–36°C.Inside: 15–16°C.Him: covered in a quilt.

An inhumane act.

Especially…

…cozy.

He wanted to climb back into bed and continue sleeping, but he couldn't fall asleep anymore. Too lazy to force it, he simply lay there and started scrolling on his phone.

He swiped through Moments.

Every post was soaked in the same atmosphere:

farewell.

Four years ended like that. And in the future maybe they'd become strangers the moment they met again.

Just then, WeChat lit up.

[A little fairy descended to earth]: Dear, you graduated? … ..I want a kiss.JPG

Chu Fang sighed and typed back.

[Love Solo Player]: Graduated. )

[A little fairy descended to earth]: Wow, you are amazing. You have finished college. Mom is so proud of you. You are worthy of being my child. My pen is broken.JPG.

Chu Fang scratched the back of his head.

He truly couldn't understand where his mother dug up these emojis. A 43-year-old middle-aged woman… yet she still carried a young, childlike spirit.

[A little fairy descended to earth]: Have you found a job, dear? Mom is so worried about you. The cat sighed helplessly.JPG.

[A little fairy descended to earth]: Why don't you go home? Although our family is not rich, mom and dad are more than enough to support you. Let you see my true strength.JPG

Seeing his mother's emoji, Chu Fang smiled.

[Love Solo Player]: Mom, I just graduated and want to try my luck in Shanghai. If I fail, I will definitely go home and live off my parents.

[A little fairy descended to earth]: OK, mom believes you. By the way, don't forget to date while you're working. You haven't had a relationship in four years of college, and mom is worried. Guaiguai is the most handsome boy in the world, how can he not find a girlfriend? You have to pay more attention...

And just like that

The "little fairy" instantly transformed into a love mentor, continuously sending him a full set of dating tactics.

Chu Fang's eyelids twitched.

You and Dad got married through a blind date… where exactly did you get dating experience from?

He waited until she finished her lecture, then replied calmly.

[Love Solo Player]: Mom, didn't you play cards today?

Ten seconds passed.

[A little fairy descended to earth]: Slipped away~ Slipped away-.JPG.

An emoji popped out.

Then she vanished from the Internet without a trace.

A scene instantly appeared in Chu Fang's mind:

His mother hurriedly putting on makeup while muttering, "Damn it," then sprinting to the mahjong hall in town at lightning speed.

When she arrived, she'd explain righteously to her girlfriends

"The beautiful girl is always the last one to appear."

And then immediately get treated coldly by her best friends.

Chu Fang understood his mother too well.

Their family wasn't particularly wealthy, but ever since she married his father, she'd lived under his protection. She'd never endured much hardship, never worried about much.

So she stayed innocent and kind-hearted.

Unbothered by worldly troubles.

Most of the time… she really did look like a little girl.

Chu Fang sent a red envelope to the "little fairy."

His mother's luck wasn't great, and she couldn't be bothered to think too hard, so she lost more than she won at mahjong.

Even though a mahjong round was only a few dozen yuan, as her son, Chu Fang still had to sponsor her "mahjong expenses."

But

His mother returned it immediately.

And sent an angry emoji.

Chu Fang could almost hear her thoughts:

My son just graduated and is about to make a living in Shanghai. He needs money right away. How could I take his money?

He didn't explain. Didn't insist.

Some things didn't need words.

Then

"F**k! I dreamed about my great-grandmother."

"It's so cold!"

"Is this a dormitory? Why does it look like a morgue? Am I dead?"

"No, I'm not married yet!"

"… …"

The low temperature brutally dragged the three of them out of deep sleep.

In an instant, the dorm room filled with ghostly howls.

Rong Shunji rolled up the AC temperature.

Shao Liang opened the window, letting hot air flood in.

Wen Xiangbing stared at Chu Fang with a solemn expression.

"Fangzi… are you sick?"

Chu Fang pulled the quilt tighter and smiled shyly.

"This is what I should do."

"Then we should thank you?" Rong Shunji's voice was dangerously calm.

"No need, buddy."

"If*****g…"

I have never seen such a shameless person.

The next second, the three of them lifted the quilt together and beat Chu Fang severely.

After fooling around for a while, everyone's sleepiness was completely gone. They started packing, preparing to leave.

Chu Fang had the most stuff in the entire dorm.

Models, electronics, action figures…

His roommates packed their own things while also helping him sort his mountain of belongings.

Rong Shunji fiddled with a string of Buddhist beads and sighed deeply.

"Sometimes I really want to rob you."

Chu Fang lowered his head, looking shy.

"You rob me? Oh… I've already been yours."

"You like it? I'll give it to you."

"Forget it." Rong Shunji shook his head. "A string of Buddhist beads costs hundreds of thousands. Do I deserve it? No!"

These beads were something Chu Fang had specially bought from a temple blessed by a master to increase the drop rate of game equipment.

Expensive as hell.

And what made Rong Shunji furious was

They were useless.

Chu Fang still never got the equipment he wanted.

Bullshit!

After they finished packing, they carried their luggage downstairs and loaded everything into the car.

"Oh," Wen Xiangbing raised an eyebrow, circling the vehicle once. "You bought another new car."

He looked at Chu Fang. "Why don't you drive those luxury cars?"

Chu Fang shoved luggage into the trunk and sighed.

"We're bankrupt."

Shao Liang murmured softly, staring at the logo.

"Cadillac."

The moment he said it, Rong Shunji, Wen Xiangbing, and Shao Liang exchanged glances

then all turned to Chu Fang with expressions that were… extremely subtle.

Chu Fang: "Hehe."

Rong Shunji patted his shoulder meaningfully.

"You keep saying you're a pure virgin. Bah. You must have been to Shuihui in the Magic City quite often, right?"

Chu Fang explained seriously, "The places I went to were all legitimate."

Wen Xiangbing narrowed his eyes. "How formal?"

"Very formal."

"I don't believe it."

Rong Shunji immediately leaned closer, his tone turning obscene.

"Unless you give me those VIP cards you applied for. I want to verify it on the spot."

His "plan" was practically about to slap Chu Fang in the face.

Fortunately, the Cadillac was spacious enough to fit four people's luggage.

They loaded everything, closed the dorm door behind them, and handed the key to the dorm manager.

College life was over.

After leaving the dormitory building, the four of them turned back and looked at the boys' dorm.

Emotion surged in their chests.

No one spoke for a moment.

Then without lingering too long

Chu Fang started the car and drove away from the school.
