Chapter 5 - CHAPTER FIVE: We're Not Playing Anymore

"My obsession wasn't quiet. It screamed in silence. Every second you looked away."

~Annie Flame~

CHAPTER FIVE: We're Not Playing Anymore

Eidan did not know when exactly the obsession shifted from sweet craving to sickness. When exactly he crossed the line of loving Reen to needing her like hhe needed oxygen.

Maybe it was when Reen first texted him at 2AM for the very first time or was it when she held his wrist like he might break it and he smiled like an idiot.

Maybe it was the first time he had dreamed of her lips on his neck, not to kiss him, but to see if he'd flinch.

Or maybe was it how she looked at him like he was prey—but lately, he wasn't sure who was hunting who anymore.

All he knew was—this wasn't puppy love anymore.

This was something else.

Something raw.

Something hungry.

His Mind Was Not a Safe Place Anymore

He wasn't sleeping right

He wasn't eating right.

At night, he'd lay in bed with his phone lit up on the pillow beside him, staring at her contact name like a lunatic.

Sometimes he typed out confessions.

"I'm obsessed with you."

"You are the one who ruined me."

"Now you're not even taking responsibility?"

"Please don't do this to me."

Then he'd delete them before hitting send.

"Ugh...I'm losing my mind!", he screamed with his head buried in the pillow.

Deep down, he has already realized:

If his love is only one sided it will end up ruining there friendship. But he was ready to risk it all.

Because being just a friend wasn't enough for him. He wanted her love, her control. He carved Reen's touch.

And the worst part?

He wasn't sure if he wanted to be the one in control or the one completely owned.

The Rooftop Discovery

On Friday afternoon, after school, clouds were present but there were no sign of rain.

Eidan stayed late, prowling up and down in corridors like a spirit.

Reen wasn't present again.

At first, he told himself he was just worried about her

But that was not exactly the whole truth.

He was pursuing her.

Like a prey.

Like she's his. Trying to justify his actions as if has every right to do so.

He found her on the rooftop.

Leaning against the chain-link fence.

Head tilted back, hair blowing in the wind.

She didn't see him at first.

Phone pressed to her ear, her tone gentle—so gentler than she ever sounded with him before.

It wasn't right.

It wasn't fair.

How could she act so gentle with someone else, who is not him.

And then he heard it.

"Yeah…he's obsessed with me now. Just like you wanted."

His heart stopped.

The Freeze Moment

Time slowed.

Sound cut out.

His stomach rumbled as if he was standing at the cliff edge.

Who the hell was she talking to?

Why did it feel like he was some experiment?

Some toy she was testing out?

He had no answer.

Her Secret, His Fury

Eidan's fists clenched so hard that his nails dug into his palms.

But his voice?

Smooth,Low and Dangerous.

"Whom are you talking to?"

Reen flinched.

Just barely, so no one can notice it.

Then she smiled, slipping the phone into her pocket as if she wasn't caught red-handed.

"Oh hey, my pretty boy."

Her tone was relaxed and playful like always.

But her eyes were calculating.

Don't Play With Me

He stepped closer to her.

His shadow engulfed hers.

"Don't lie and try to change the topic. Ive heard it."

She tilted her head, smirk still in place.

"What, you're spying on me now?"

Her tone was light.

But there was something behind it—a twitch in her jaw, a crack in her armor.

Eidan's lips parted.

"Maybe."

His eyes never leaving hers.

Reen's Thoughts Spiral Too

Reen wasn't as cool as she looked.

Her heart was racing.

Has she been busted?

Because this wasn't supposed to happen.

She loved teasing him. She liked pushing him. His innocent flushed face.

But this?

This was different.

Eidan wasn't backing down anymore. Asking her questions. He wasn't falling for her teasing this time.

And when he grabbed her wrist—just like she used to grab his—her stomach twisted in the worst, best way.

The Kiss That Broke Everything

His placed his hand on her jaw.

She gasped, but it wasn't fear.

Now she had no choice but to change her tactics.

She grabbed him from collar

And then she kissed him.

Hard and Messy.

As though she was trynna drown him into her kiss and dominating his mind making him believe, she is the only air left in the world.

His Reaction?

He fell for it. His mind going wild.

He kissed her back like a hungry wolf, starving for weeks.

It wasn't a usual kiss a normal couple would do. A kiss without any further moment of hesitation.

Her teeth caught his lip.

Made him bleed.

"You're bleeding," she whispered, thumb swiping the corner of his mouth.

Eidan grinned, lips red.

"Good."

Because in that moment, he just wanted her. Her and her only. For him the kiss felt like a dream.

He didn't mind bleeding for her. He was okay even if she was just using her. Beacause he also needed her.

But his mind still wanted to know why she was shutting him out. What was so hard for her that made her rather kiss me than tell me the truth behind it.

Afterwards

They stood there, forehead to forehead, hearts racing.

Breath mingling.

The air between them?

It was toxic, addictive yet flawless.

Reen's Inner Breakdown

Her lips were dry.

Her chest was tight.

"Fuck just how hard did he kiss me?"

Eiden was gonna kiss her once again.

"Oh wait! Wait!" She shouted covering his mouth.

He just looked at her with eyes filled with desire. He pulled her hands away pining them up.

"Aren't you the one who started it? Shouldn't you take responsibility now?"

He made Reen speechless.

Because yeah, maybe she initiated it as a way to escape his questions but he didn't seemed like he was gonna stop know

But now?

Eidan wasn't gonna let himself take as a joke anymore.

He wanted her.He was hers.

And worse?

He could have her too.

___________

Later that night

Later that night, Eidan lay in bed staring at the ceiling.

His lips still stung from the kiss and

his heart was still racing.

But his mind; however,

It was still sharp and awake as if plotting something.

Because love was one thing that's why he let her go without further inquiry today but that is not gonna be the same case every time.

The secret she was hiding.

He was going to find it out.

He prayed desperately that night.

He was ready to accept whatever it was except the fact it's someone she loves (like a lover).

If it were to be the case, he wasn't sure if he'd kiss her again…

lose his mind or burn everything down including himself.
