Chapter 25 - Skeleton examination

REAL WORLD

The Kingdom of Ccare was approaching a turning point.

In front of the prestigious high school, the trees had begun to change color. Their leaves had turned pale pink, drifting slowly in the wind like fragments of a fading dream.

It felt as if the world itself was announcing the end of something.

The exam season had arrived.

For Jay, Charles, and Rose, it meant one thing.

The end of high school.

The beginning of everything else.

But Jay… wasn't the same anymore.

Ever since the day he saw the skeleton.

His face had grown thinner, his eyes darker, as if sleep had abandoned him.

He had gone to the library, asking strange questions about necromancy, forbidden rituals, and ancient theories about life beyond death.

The librarian had laughed.

Everyone assumed he was just stressed about exams.

Even Jay sometimes wondered if they were right.

But every night, the same nightmare returned.

The skeleton.

Leaping toward him.

Its empty eye sockets staring into his soul.

Its bony fingers wrapping slowly around his throat.

And every time—

Jay woke up gasping for air, clutching his neck, his heart pounding like it wanted to escape his chest.

The morning of the final exam arrived.

Jay stepped into the hallway with hundreds of other students.

This was it.

The last test.

After this, freedom.

He walked toward the exam room and stopped in front of the list posted on the door.

His eyes scanned the sheet.

Then froze.

Exam Topic: Skeletal Anatomy

Jay's stomach twisted.

That subject hadn't been planned.

They changed it overnight.

His hands became cold.

Slowly, he entered the classroom.

And then he saw it.

Sitting across the room.

The skeleton.

Exactly like before.

Motionless.

But not lifeless.

Slowly…

It raised a finger.

And waved.

A small, mocking gesture.

Jay's breath caught in his throat.

He sat down.

Don't look at it.

Just finish the exam.

Just survive the day.

He slapped his cheeks lightly.

— Come on… Jay whispered to himself.

— Just one last exam.

He looked around.

Students were writing quietly, focused on their papers.

Everyone was fighting for their future.

So would he.

Jay grabbed his pen.

And began writing.

An hour later, the exam ended.

Outside, Jay lay in the grass behind the school building, staring at the sky.

There was no doubt anymore.

The skeleton was real.

And if it was real…

It meant something impossible had entered their world.

He sat up slowly.

Something had to be done.

The next day, the school was closed.

Jay called Charles and Rose.

His plan was simple.

Break into the school at night.

Charles stared at him.

— Jay… you've been acting weird lately.

Rose crossed her arms.

— This skeleton story is getting out of hand.

Charles smirked.

— Want me to check your pulse? You might be hallucinating.

Jay grinned.

A strange, confident grin.

— Relax.

— My plan is insane.

He paused.

— Which means it's guaranteed to work.

After a moment of hesitation…

They agreed.

Rose would stay outside with a walkie-talkie.

Night fell.

The school stood silent under the moonlight.

The cameras were off.

Only the alarms remained active.

Jay climbed the fence, dropped silently into the courtyard, and slipped through a half-open window.

Inside, the building felt different.

Empty.

Cold.

A guard was patrolling somewhere nearby.

Jay moved quietly between classrooms, searching for a keycard.

Then a voice echoed behind him.

— Hey.

Jay almost jumped.

Charles stood in the hallway, completely calm.

— How the hell did you get inside?!

Before Jay could answer—

The fire alarm suddenly screamed.

Water burst from the sprinklers above them.

Jay stared in disbelief.

Charles shrugged.

— Relax. It's a scheduled drill.

Jay wiped water from his face.

— Idiot. I thought you got caught.

Charles lifted a small bottle.

— By the way.

— I brought half a liter of sulfuric acid.

Jay blinked.

— Good.

Rose arrived moments later, soaked and furious.

— You two are unbelievable.

Jay pointed toward the corridor.

— Anatomy room.

— Let's go.

The classroom door creaked open.

Jay stepped inside.

Empty.

The skeleton was gone.

Jay exhaled.

— See? I'm not crazy!

Charles looked around.

— Maybe they moved it to storage.

Then suddenly—

A hand slammed onto Charles' shoulder.

A punch echoed through the room.

Charles collapsed instantly.

The bottle shattered.

Sulfuric acid spilled across the floor, hissing.

Rose screamed.

Footsteps approached.

The guard ran in, baton ready.

And then…

Everyone froze.

Standing in the darkness…

Was the skeleton.

Moving.

Alive.

The guard dropped his baton.

And ran.

Jay stepped forward, shaking.

— You see?! I'm not crazy!

He punched the skeleton.

Its skull spun sideways with a crack.

Then slowly turned back.

The skeleton laughed.

A dry, hollow sound.

— Is that all?

Its jaw moved again.

— Show some respect.

It tilted its head.

— I am a Necromancer.

— Maintaining my body here while controlling my mind in another world…

It sighed.

— What a nuisance.

Rose whispered behind Jay.

— How do we escape…?

— This place is a maze in the dark.

Jay smiled faintly.

— Maybe.

He pointed down the hallway.

— But it's our school.

— We know the maze better than he does.

They ran.

Footsteps echoed behind them.

Suddenly—

A skeletal hand shot from the darkness.

It grabbed Rose's leg.

And dragged her into the shadows.

Her scream faded into silence.

Jay stopped.

His heart pounded violently.

Run…

Or go back?

Seconds felt like hours.

Then—

Rose came running out of the darkness.

Breathing heavily.

— It dissolved!

— The acid… it melted him!

Charles groaned but managed to stand.

Together, they fled the school.

Behind them…

The skeleton's bones were slowly dissolving in the acid.

The Necromancer had been defeated.

In this world.

And in the other one.

But somewhere far away…

In a darker realm…

A pair of glowing eyes opened.

And a voice whispered in the void.

— Interesting.

— Very interesting.
