Chapter 14 - Chapter 14- Aurelian

Foot soldiers marched through. The sounds of heavy footwear and metal clanking into each other whilst being strapped onto belts. Soldiers had been moving debris and rubble from Angels.

A man, wearing a black military uniform, with a trench coat covering him. He had curly hair along with a goatee. He had ruby star on his chest. A man from High Command.

He sat down on top of a seat inside of a camp near the Gate of Angels.

His mind could only remember one thing

2 weeks Prior—

"Aurelian. We're promoting you to the High Command, lowest seat. You have done well." A man spoke.

Aurelian stammered— "Hi-High Command?!" His jaw dropped. "I could not thank you more General Yumin! I greatly appreciate this promotion. But… what's the catch?"

The General had chuckled— "Your awareness and intuition never fails to surprise me. Lord Emperor has granted you the task of tracing the Reaper, and eliminating him. He has given you authority over 15,000 troops and including the officers below you."

Aurelian's face was stern with a finger in his chin—

*The Reaper… hmm.* He had looked at the General. "Alright, may I thank Lord Emperor for this task?"

"No, I'll pass it on for you, he has been busy as of lately." The General had nodded and walked away.

Aurelian began looking through case files and the reports of the Reaper in the Royal Headquarters library.

*Imaez Austeci, 18 years old since 40 AE… so he's been 18 for 4 years.. Alright I'll need Guri for this.* Aurelian had walked out the library and brought classified documents with him.

Guri had been in the sparring room, practicing his swordsmanship and watching duels.

He turned around and had seen Aurelian with files in his hand looking at him. Aurelian had walked to him, cutting to the chase—

"I need you." He handed documents to Guri.

Guri had skimmed through— "The Reaper? Void abilities? 18 since 40 AE? Interesting… So who gave you this task?"

Aurelian smirked— "Lord Emperor…"

Guri's forehead veins bulged, "LOR-" Aurelian had put his hand on his mouth.

"Shhh!" He put hovered his finger over his own lip. "This is classified!"

Guri's mouth was finally let go— "You know how much the Emperor means to me! I been dying for a Special Task.."

Aurelian smiled, "And why do you think I'm getting you for the job? We been working together since I got here 4 years ago."

Guri had smiled aswell— "I had overheard your promotion, 26 years old and already a High Command member. You make me sick!!" He playfully stuck his tongue out.

Guri had went back to serious..

"I'll do it. Give me some time, the Janaden house needs me but I'll be there."

Aurelian nodded and walked out.

He had walked into his new room after he was promoted and sat at his desk.

"A noble ball in Angels. That will be my framework. He massacres every two years, it's almost time. If he's usually near the north. Taharo will be his massacre, he'll move to the Outskirts— I'll plant Juren there. I'll take the gamble with Angels, I can't be too certain so I'll put some agents as hotel staff."

Aurelian had leaned back in his chair and chewed on a bottle cap.

*I won't disappoint you.. Lord Emperor.*

In the present—

Aurelian had stopped thinking about how all of this occurred and mourned Guri's death, "I thought you were stronger than them. At least we know now, there is more. Thank you Guri, your death will not be in vain."

Aurelian had sat inside of a carriage—

"I'm going to Headquarters."

Inside of Hupin Village, in a restaurant, the only noise emitted was scarfing and gulps.

Lloyd had been gobbling up plates upon plates of food. Imaez was already full off of one entree and Marie off of three.

"HAAA! I'm replenished now.. Lightning Soul Pact makes me really really hungry once I use it. But thankfully, I have a lot of endurance so it takes a lot out of me to get THIS hungry." Lloyd said while still chewing food in his mouth.

"Let's just get onto the train, it's coming in 5 minutes." Imaez said.

Lloyd had went to go use the bathroom to wash up, Imaez and Marie were at the table speaking—

"Imaez, do you ever think you will be able to beat your curse?"

Imaez had sighed and looked out the window—

"All I do is try to survive. It'd be great if it went away, I'd be delighted. But who am I to play God? I'm not this stand up man, I kill to survive. It may be selfish but I'll always choose myself no matter what."

Marie had sighed, "You really don't know yourself do you… One day, I'll tell you that you lied about this." She slouched.

Lloyd had came back—

"Alright, let's go!"

The Deathslingers had walked to the train station—

Choo choo! The sound of a train approaching.

"All aboard! Next stop is—

Greenwood Megacity!"
