Chapter 49 - What I Like

I didn't understand it myself.

When Fabian insulted me earlier, I had remained strangely calm.

But the moment he insulted Finnick, something inside me snapped.

Just thinking about Finnick—about the way he sat quietly in his wheelchair, the loneliness hidden deep inside his eyes—made anger rise in my chest.

Fabian had no right to speak about him like that.

Finnick had been forced to hide his strength for years. He had endured ten years of pretending to be helpless because of the cruel power struggles within his family.

Fabian knew nothing about that.

Fabian stood there in shock, clearly not expecting my reaction.

Seeing him stunned like that, I suddenly felt tired.

I didn't even want to look at him anymore.

"Fabian," I said coldly, my voice steady. "I know it might seem strange to you. You probably thought Finnick and I were having some kind of forbidden relationship."

I met his eyes directly.

"But the truth is, we are legally married."
