Chapter 141 - Chapter 137 Alexander bday

The mall trip had exhausted the household, leaving a rare, heavy stillness over the Black Box. Alexander was fast asleep in his race-car bed, clutching his new stuffed lion, and the restless energy of Section E had finally settled into the guest wings. Keigan and Keiran had retreated to the lounge, and even Percy was uncharacteristically quiet.

But in the master suite, the air was anything but still.

POV: Jay (Jasper Jean Mariano)

The door clicked shut, the heavy mahogany barrier sealing us away from the world of CEOs and surgeons. I was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the moonlight ripple over the Tagaytay ridge. I felt a pair of strong, familiar hands slide around my waist, pulling me back against a chest that felt like heated granite.

Keifer—my Mark Keifer Watson—didn't say a word. He didn't have to. The way his lips grazed the sensitive line of my shoulder told me exactly where his mind was.

"The light-up shoes were a good distraction," he whispered, his voice a low, dark vibration that made my toes curl into the plush rug. "But I've been thinking about this moment since we left the mansion this morning."

I turned in his arms, looping my hands around his neck. The "Monster" was looking down at me with an intensity that could burn through steel. His shirt was already half-unbuttoned, a result of my own impatient hands earlier.

"The second richest man in the world is very greedy," I teased, my fingers tracing the hard line of his jaw.

"Only when it comes to you, weify," he growled.

He lifted me effortlessly, my legs wrapping around his waist as he carried me toward the bed. The silk sheets felt like ice against my skin, but the heat radiating from Keifer was overwhelming. This wasn't the tentative, careful reunion of the previous night; this was a reclamation.

The Language of Desire

There were no interruptions tonight. No pagers, no crying toddlers, no Aries or Percy knocking with "emergencies." There was only the sound of our breathing and the friction of skin against skin.

Keifer moved with a deliberate, agonizing slowness. He wanted to worship every inch of the woman he had almost lost. His hands, usually so steady when holding a weapon or a pen, trembled slightly as they moved over my curves. He kissed the surgical scars on my abdomen with a reverence that brought tears to my eyes, turning my pain into something beautiful and shared.

"You are my starlight, Jay," he murmured against my skin. "Even when the world is dark, I just have to find you."

When we finally became one, the world outside the Black Box ceased to exist. It was a collision of power and grace—the precision of a surgeon and the raw strength of a king. Every movement was a silent vow, a promise that we would never let the shadows touch us again.

I arched beneath him, my fingers digging into the muscles of his back, my voice a broken whisper of his name. In this space, he wasn't the CEO of Watson Enterprises or a legend of Section E. He was just mine. And I was his.

The Afterglow

Hours later, the moon had shifted, casting long, silver shadows across the room. I lay tangled in the sheets, my head resting on Keifer's chest, listening to the steady, slowing thrum of his heart.

He was tracing patterns on my arm, his touch light and lingering. The "Monster" was at rest, his soul finally quieted by the peace we found in each other.

"We should go to London soon," he whispered, his voice thick with the remnants of passion. "Just us. And Alexander. No Section E. No brothers."

"You know they'd follow us anyway, Keif," I smiled, closing my eyes. "Percy would probably stow away in the luggage."

"Then I'll buy a bigger plane," he muttered, pulling the duvet over us.

We stayed like that for a long time—two hearts beating in sync, protected by the walls of the fortress we had built. There was no tomorrow yet, no board meetings or family dramas. There was only the warmth of his body against mine and the absolute certainty that as long as we had these nights, the Watson-Mariano legacy would never break.

The night was our sanctuary, and for once, the King and Queen didn't have to rule. They just had to love.

...

The aftermath of another night where the world ceased to exist outside our bedroom doors left a lingering glow that even the crisp Tagaytay morning couldn't chill. But as the sun rose over the ridges, the Black Box didn't wake up to its usual tactical silence. Instead, it woke up to a high-stakes countdown.

Today was the official preparation day for Alexander's 4th Birthday, and in the Watson-Mariano household, a toddler's birthday was treated with the same gravity as a national summit.

POV: Jay (Jasper Jean Mariano)

I woke up to the sensation of Keifer tracing the line of my spine with his thumb. I didn't want to move. The warmth of the sheets and the steady heat of my husband's body were a sanctuary I wasn't ready to leave.

"The tiny commander is already awake, weify," Keifer whispered into my hair, his voice deep and raspy. "I can hear Percy trying to convince him that he doesn't need a real tank for the backyard."

I groaned, turning in his arms to face him. Mark Keifer Watson looked entirely too handsome for a man who had been awake for all of four minutes. "You bought him a life-sized T-Rex yesterday, Keif. You've set a dangerous precedent. A tank is the logical next step in his mind."

Keifer smirked, kissing my forehead. "If he wants a tank, he'll get a tank. But today, we focus on the party. Angelo is already calling about the guest list, and I'm pretty sure Lia has redirected a satellite just to monitor the weather over the mansion."

The Command Center: Birthday Edition

When we finally descended the grand staircase, the foyer looked like a logistics hub for a small army.

Keigan and Keiran were in the center of the hall, surrounded by blueprints. Not for a building, but for the "Interactive Ninja Obstacle Course" being constructed on the north lawn.

"It needs to be reinforced, Keiran!" Keigan argued, pointing to a diagram. "If the Section E boys decide to 'test' the equipment, the whole thing will collapse."

"It's for four-year-olds, Keigan!" Keiran shot back. "Not for Denzel and Calix to do tactical drills on!"

In the kitchen, Aries (Horoscope) was in his element, surrounded by a mountain of flour and sugar. He was barking orders at Moya and Kit, who were currently tasked with taste-testing fifteen different types of frosting.

"Too sweet!" Kit announced, licking a spoon. "Alexander likes the dark chocolate, Aries. He's a Watson, he has a sophisticated palate."

"He's three, Kit! He likes anything that turns his tongue blue!" Aries yelled back, though he was already reaching for the cocoa powder.

The Family Influx

As the morning progressed, the rest of the clan began to arrive for the "prep-com."

Lia (the first richest) strode in with Kurav, looking like she was ready to manage a global crisis. She handed me a leather-bound folder. "Jay, the catering from Paris is confirmed. The private jet lands at noon. I've also arranged for a small orchestra, but Percy keeps insisting on a 'bubble-foam rave' for the kids."

"No foam raves," I said firmly, just as Percy walked in with Honey.

"Aww, bay sista Jay! Come on!" Percy whined, his blue eyes wide. "Imagine the photos! David has already rigged the drones to capture the foam from three different angles. It'll be legendary!"

"Percy, if you get foam on the T-Rex, I'm making you clean it with a toothbrush," Keifer warned, walking over to the coffee station.

Angelo (Kuya) arrived shortly after with Ion. He walked straight to Keifer, the two most powerful men in the room sharing a silent nod of mutual respect. "The security perimeter is doubled for tomorrow, Keifer. Yuri's remnants are no threat, but on Alexander's day, we take no chances."

"I expect nothing less, Boss," Keifer replied.

The Birthday Prince

In the middle of all this high-level planning sat the birthday boy himself. Alexander was perched on a stool at the island, wearing a paper crown that Lia had probably bought from a boutique in Milan.

Erdix and Rory were sitting on either side of him, showing him "tactical" ways to open his early presents.

"Look, Alex," Erdix whispered. "If you pull the ribbon from the left, you preserve the structural integrity of the wrapping paper. It's a silent extraction."

"Silent 'traction!" Alexander cheered, ripping the paper into a million pieces instead.

I watched from the doorway, feeling a lump in my throat. I looked at my mother, Jeena, and Tita Gemma laughing with Grandma Lora as they looked through old photos of us. I saw my father, Jasper Mariano, sitting with Keifer, talking about the legacy this little boy would one day inherit.

This was the preparation. Not just the cake, the drones, or the obstacle courses. It was the gathering of a tribe that had been through fire. It was the way Section E—C in, Rakki, Freya, Mica, Ella, and Grace—were all working together to blow up a thousand gold and black balloons

The Night Before the Big Day

As evening fell, the mansion was a sea of decorations. The life-sized T-Rex stood guard in the foyer, now wearing a giant party hat. The lawn was transformed into a wonderland that only the second richest man in the world could provide for his son.

Keifer found me on the balcony, looking out at the transformed estate. He wrapped his arms around me from behind, his chin resting on my shoulder.

"He's going to love it, Jay," he whispered.

"He's going to remember it, Keif. That's what matters."

"We did good," he said, turning me around to face him. His eyes were soft, the "Monster" completely tucked away. "Through the coma, the grief, and the wars... we gave him this. A home full of people who love him."

I kissed him, the taste of the day's coffee and the night's promise on his lips. "Happy Birthday Eve, Mark Keifer Watson."

"Happy Birthday Eve, Jasper Jean," he replied.

Tomorrow, the Black Box would be loud with the laughter of children and the cheers of a family that refused to be broken. But tonight, as the preparation finally wound down, it was just us—the King, the Queen, and the quiet promise of a future that was finally, truly ours.
