Chapter 165 - Chapter 159 5th month

The 5th month in the Black Box wasn't just a period of time; it was a psychological gauntlet. The hormones, combined with the critical nature of the pregnancy and the lingering shadow of Aurora, turned Jay's mind into a high-speed carousel.

One minute she was the sun, and the next, she was a category-five hurricane.

08:00 AM – The "Sunlight" Phase (Pure Happiness)

I woke up to the sound of giggling. I opened my eyes to find Jay—my wifey—sitting up in bed, surrounded by baby clothes she had ordered online. She looked radiant, her skin glowing with that "Starlight" energy.

"Hubby! Look!" she chirped, holding up a tiny pair of pink combat boots. "Astraea is going to be the most stylish ninja in the world! Isn't life just beautiful? I love this house! I love the smell of the morning! I even love Rory's weird laugh!"

I blinked, stunned by the sudden warmth. "I'm glad you're happy, wifey."

"Happy? I'm ecstatic! Go tell Section E I'm making everyone breakfast! I want to see everyone! Group hug!"

10:00 AM – The "Abyss" (Crushing Sadness)

Two hours later, the "Group Hug" had turned into a funeral procession. I walked into the kitchen to find Jay sobbing into a bowl of cereal. Section E was standing in a panicked semicircle, paralyzed.

"What happened?" I demanded, my hand going to my holster. "Who hurt her?"

"No one, Kuya," Keiran whispered, looking traumatized. "She saw a commercial for a vacuum cleaner where a lonely dust bunny was left behind, and she's been like this for twenty minutes."

"It's just so unfair!" Jay wailed, her tears splashing into the milk. "The dust bunny just wanted a family! And Aurora... Aurora never got to see a vacuum cleaner! She never got to see anything! I'm a terrible mother for being happy two hours ago!"

"Wifey, no—"

"Don't touch me, Keifer! I don't deserve comfort! I am a puddle of grief!"

12:00 PM – The "Monster" Unleashed (Pure Anger)

By noon, the sadness had calcified into a terrifying, jagged rage. Jay was stalking the hallway like a panther.

FELIX!" she roared. The young IT genius nearly fell out of his chair. "Why is the Wi-Fi 0.2 milliseconds slower in the nursery? Are you trying to sabotage my daughter's future? Are you?!"

"Umm jay , it's the solar flares—"

"I don't care about the sun! Fix it or I will use your laptop as a frisbee!" She turned her gaze to Aries (Horoscope). "And you! Stop vibrating! Your 'healing energy' is making a humming sound in my ears! Go find a rock and stay under it!"

Percy (Blue Eyes) tried to sneak past. "Jay, sis, maybe a nap?"

"A nap? A NAP?!" Jay stepped into his space, her eyes flashing. "You want me to close my eyes so you can keep being annoyingly blue-eyed in peace? Get out of my sight before I perform an unauthorized surgery on your ego, Percy!"

03:00 PM – The "Spiral" (Extreme Overthinking)

The rage died down, replaced by a haunting, quiet anxiety. I found her in the library, surrounded by medical journals. She was pale, her eyes darting across the pages.

"Hubby," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I've been calculating the probability of the placental invasion based on my last three blood panels. If the vascularity increases by 15% in the next week, and the surgical team is delayed by even four minutes due to traffic, the mortality rate climbs. What if Ci n gets a cramp in his hand? What if the power grid in Manila fails?"

"Jay, the Black Box has three backup generators and a private surgical suite," I said, kneeling before her.

"But what if there's an earthquake? A 7.2 magnitude! The scalpel could slip! Astraea would be left without a mother, and you'd have to marry someone else, and she'd be a mean stepmother like in Cinderella!" She grabbed my shirt. "Promise me you won't marry a woman who hates dust bunnies, Keifer!"

"I'm not marrying anyone else, wifey. Stop."

08:00 PM – The "Sanctuary" (Overwhelming Love)

The storm finally broke as the moon rose. The family was gathered for dinner, everyone walking on eggshells. Jay sat quietly, her hand resting on her belly.

She looked at Alexander, who was showing her a drawing. "I love you so much, my little commander," she whispered, kissing his forehead.

Then, she looked around the room. Her eyes softened as she landed on Ma (Jeena) and Pa Pa (Jasper). "I'm sorry I was mean about the tea. I love you both."

She turned to Section E. "Rory, Erdix, Denzel... thank you for staying. I know I'm a nightmare right now. You're the best brothers I could ask for."

The men of Section E, usually stoic and tough, actually looked choked up. Mayo and Kit brought in a special ice cream cake, and Grandpa David patted her hand.

Finally, she looked at me. The love in her eyes was so intense it was almost painful. "Come here, hubby."

I sat beside her, and she rested her head on my shoulder. "I love you, Mark Keifer Watson. Thank you for being my anchor when I'm lost at sea."

"I'm not going anywhere, wifey," I murmured.

The 5th-month peace was a fragile glass sculpture. It lasted exactly through the ice cream cake before the "Spiral" returned, but this time, it was different. It wasn't just fear; it was a deep, soul-searching need for connection. The Black Box lounge dimmed as the moonlight hit the floor, and for a moment, the chaos of Section E settled into a rare, reverent silence.

POV: Keifer (Mark Keifer Watson)

I sat on the oversized velvet sofa, pulling Jay—my wifey—into the crook of my arm. She was in her "Love" phase, her hand resting on her stomach where Astraea Solene was unusually active. Around us, the family sat like a council of guardians.

"She's moving a lot tonight," Jay whispered, her voice soft and thick with emotion. "She knows we're all here. She can feel the weight of this house."

Alexander crawled up and sat at our feet, leaning his head against Jay's knee. "Mumma, tell her the story about the 'Blue Eyes' and the 'Monster'."

Percy (Blue Eyes) snorted from his armchair, but he didn't make a sarcastic comment for once. Even Section E—Rory, Erdix, Denzel, and Emman—sat on the floor or leaned against the walls, watching us.

"No," Jay said, her eyes shimmering as she looked at everyone. "Tonight, I want her to hear from her family. I want her to know who is going to be standing outside that delivery room."

The Stories for Astraea

Pa Pa (Jasper) was the first to speak. He leaned forward, his weathered face softening. "Astraea, little star... your grandfather wants you to know that you come from a line of people who never quit. When the storm gets loud, you just listen for our voices. We are the ones who turned a name into a fortress."

Ma (Jeena) wiped a stray tear. "And I'll teach you how to bake the cookies that make your Dad forget he's supposed to be scary."

Aries (Horoscope) actually put down his crystals. "I'll teach you how to read the sky, little niece. So you always know that even when you can't see us, the stars are always there. Just like Aurora."

The mention of the name didn't cause a breakdown this time. It felt like a warm breeze. Keigan and Keiran shared a look.

"Kuya and I," Keiran began, looking at me, "we'll be the ones who teach you how to sneak out of the mansion when Dad puts you on a 24-hour lockdown. Because you're going to be a rebel, Astra. I can feel it."

"I'll provide the getaway car," Keigan grinned.

Section E's Vow

Then, the "Chaotic Brothers" of Section E spoke. It was the most serious I had ever seen them.

"I'm the one who will fly you across the ocean just to get the specific candy you want," Ci n promised, his eyes meeting mine. "And I'm the one who's going to make sure your Mumma stays right here to see you grow up."

"I'll build you a firewall that even the gods can't hack," Erdix added.

"And I," Kuya Angelo said, his voice deep and grounding, "will teach you how to lead. Because a Watson-Mariano doesn't just survive; she commands."

POV: Jay (Jasper Jean Mariano)

I listened to them, and for the first time in months, the "Overthinking" didn't feel like a cage. It felt like a bridge. I looked at Keifer. He hadn't spoken yet. He was just watching me with that intense, possessive, "Monster" love that used to scare me but now kept me whole.

"What about you, hubby?" I asked. "What do you want to tell her?"

Keifer shifted, his hand moving to cover mine on my belly. He leaned down, his lips almost touching the fabric of my dress.

"Astraea Solene," he murmured, his voice vibrating through my skin. "I am the man the world fears. I am the one who built these walls to keep the darkness out. But for you... and for your Mumma... I am just the man who will never let go. You are the light I didn't know I was waiting for. You are the proof that even after the darkest night, the sun still has the courage to rise."

The room went completely still. Alexander whispered, "And I'm the one who will give her my sword."

Suddenly, I felt a sharp, strong kick—right against Keifer's palm.

"She heard you," I sobbed, the "Sadness" phase trying to peek through, but I fought it back. "She heard all of you."

The Final Shift

As the night grew late and the family began to disperse, Keifer carried me up the stairs. The 5th month was halfway over, and the "Critical" status of my pregnancy hadn't changed, but my heart felt lighter.

In the hallway, we passed the photo of Aurora. Keifer stopped for a second. He didn't say anything, but he touched the frame with his thumb. It was a silent promise to the daughter in the stars and the daughter in the womb.

"Hubby?" I whispered as he laid me down on the silk sheets.

"Yes, wifey?"

"I'm not going to leave you. I've decided. The universe doesn't get to take two of my stars."

Keifer smirked, that sharp, arrogant Watson smirk that I loved. "Good. Because I haven't given the universe permission to take anything from me."

He pulled the covers up, and as I drifted off to sleep, I didn't think about blood panels or placental invasion. I thought about pink combat boots, blue eyes, and the way a "Monster" looked when he was holding his entire world in his arms.
