Chapter 2 - SPIRIT

The forest was loaded with twisted branches and slippery paths. Tyson was holding his wrist as he struggled with the branches which were out to get him. Dawn was two hours away so all he had to do was hold out till then but he knows he has to leave the forest to survive. His attention was shortly gone when he ran into a wolf which lay on the ground. He hit his head and fell to the ground. When he finally recovered from it, he sat upright and saw why the wolf was on his way. The wolf had multiple claw mark wounds and bite marks. Tyson felt pitty since the wolf was also kicked out of his home. He ripped part of his clothes and patched it up. He then used half of the holy water to at least clean up his fur. Once he was done, the wolf looked at him with a struggle but Tyson just smiled at him. Then a screeching sound invaded the entire forest sending a wave of literal fear in all directions. Fear was incarnated in the form of a black mass of solid dark mana. Tyson was horrified by the approaching wave but he knew the wolf could not escape so he decided to shield him by using his own body. The wave hit and ravaged his back like a war of attrition running across a battle field. He held out till the wave ended and fell to the muddy ground. The wolf looked at him and licked his face making him smile. Then another screech came followed by the sound of something fast moving through the forest." How much time did I waste with the first aid. Sorry buddy but I gotta go. I hope we'll meet again someday," Tyson said as he struggled to his feet and took off.

This part of the forest was much easier to maneuver due to the wave of fear. He was now around half way through the forest and he was sure the strike squad was catching up to him. No way he was outrunning vampire assassin's and he was a mistake. Then he heard another whisper that said," Dive now."

" What?" Tyson asked out loud.

" I said Dive," said the voice when a tree branch grew and tripped him.

He fell on his face and fell into a hole disguised by illusion magic. This was not supposed to be hear and Tyson knew that. He was still on edge as he looked up. He could see the surface but he was sure no one else could see him. Horror hit his face when he spotted who was looking for him. A vampire in a general outfit appeared just above him. He had with him a long sword dripping with blood. Another vampire flew into view and this brought in more pain. It was Neil and he had with him his cursed blood sword." Have you seen him?" Neil asked.

" I lost his scent around here. I don't understand," said the general.

" This is why I told you not to use your fear you idiot. If the crimson nights find him before we do, I will make sure you know why immortality is a curse," threatened Neil.

The two flew in opposite sides. Then four crimson red vampires appeared and looked in all directions before disappearing once more." What the heck is going on," Tyson whispered.

a small light started to shine under his shirt. He lifted it up and saw that his silver rosary was resonating with his silver necklace and they were both glowing.it was dim but evident. Tyson held the two together and thought of his mother and asked himself what to do. It was only a matter of time before the vampires found out where he was hiding. Then the voice spoke," Go to werewolf peak. Your fate shall be your guide."

" Are you sure?" Tyson asked but no answer came.

Only one thought was evident, that was the voice of his mother. He put up a brace for his wrist to handle the pain and calmed himself. In his knowledge of living with vampires, he knew that if vampires could not track you by scent, they will track you by the sound of your heart beat. Once he was calm, he looked around at the hole of his salvation and found a number of putrid smelling herbs all over. An idea then came to mind. He rubbed the herbs on his body and masked his scent. Though his nose wrinkled with the entry of the putrid smell, he was happy to be safe to know he was safe. He got out and looked around. Throughout his life, his life was these woods and he always left trailblazers to know the direction in which he was going. He spotted a wolf mark on one of the trees and knew that werewolf peak was nearby. The problem was that it was on the opposite side of the edge of the forest. This was a gamble with his own life. Was it worth trusting the voice of someone or something he was yet to see. He steeled his resolve and moved due east. He ran with a kind of confidence avoiding any and all branches and twigs or anything that might make a sound if stepped on. This was a skill his brother taught him and he was confident in it. It was called 'Feather walk'. He was having a relatively good run when he came to jumping over a small boulder and landed in the center of a litter of wolf cubs playing around. The alpha spotted him and growled. This was not good. Tyson pushed all worry aside and continued on. The pack was now chasing after him and making a racket. The vampires were sure to catch on but luckily, he was really close to werewolf peak and got to the top of the cliff without issue. Once he stood near the ledge he was sure that that was where he was supposed to be as his necklace and rosary were glowing even brighter. He turned to face the wolves to see that the alpha was slowly approaching. Tyson took a stance when another wolf came right through the others and stood before Tyson to challenge the alpha. Once Tyson spotted the blood stained clothes on him, he knew that this was the wolf he helped." No, stop. You can't beat him with injuries like those," warned Tyson.

The wolf howled at him to stay back. Tyson hesitated when the voice spoke," He wants to help you," as a silvery glowing hand touched his shoulder," Let him help the one who risked his life to keep him safe."

Tyson turned around and saw none other than his mother. She was there for the first time in ten years in the form of a SPIRIT.
