Chapter 82 - Twin Brooms and Jealous Whispers

Sunday morning, Alexander sat at the Ravenclaw table beside Cho.

He was eating breakfast faster than usual.

Cho noticed immediately.

"You're eating like you're waiting for something."

"I am," he said.

Right on cue—

The sound of flapping wings filled the Great Hall.

Owls poured in through the high windows carrying letters, parcels, and packages.

Students looked up excitedly.

But then—

A much larger shadow passed overhead.

Multiple carrier owls descended together, struggling slightly under the weight of several medium-sized crates.

Instead of landing on the tables, they dropped the boxes neatly behind Alexander's seat.

Students nearby turned to look—

But before anyone could react further, two sleek delivery owls glided down carrying long, broomstick-shaped packages.

One landed at the Gryffindor table.

The other landed directly in front of Cho.

Cho blinked.

"…For me?"

She looked at the tag, then slowly turned to Alexander.

He was smiling.

"I know it's a little late," he said casually, "but congratulations. I told my mom you love Quidditch. If you made the team, we'd buy you a broom."

Cho's eyes widened.

"Alexander…"

"Hurry up. Open it."

Her hands moved quickly now, tearing open the wrapping.

And the polished wooden shine of a brand-new broomstick gleamed under the Great Hall lights.

Gasps erupted instantly.

Cho whispered breathlessly:

"…Nimbus 2000."

The latest model.

The fastest commercially available broom.

Ravenclaw table exploded into cheers.

Even students at other tables stood to look.

At the same time—

A similar burst of reaction came from the Gryffindor table.

Harry Potter had opened his package, too.

Another Nimbus 2000.

Now both teams' Seekers held matching top-tier racing brooms.

The Hall buzzed with envy and excitement.

Some students clapped.

Others whispered.

A few Slytherins looked like they'd swallowed lemons.

While everyone's attention stayed locked on the brooms—

Alexander moved.

Calmly and Efficiently.

He got out of his seat and began shrinking the delivered crates with wand taps before sliding them into his briefcase.

Seeds.

Potion ingredients.

Magical equipment.

Livestock permits.

Everything he'd requested.

All secured while everyone's focus was on the broom.

He returned to his seat just as Cho was still admiring her broom.

"You like it?" he asked.

She looked at him, eyes bright.

"I love it."

Another owl dropped a letter onto his plate.

Alexander opened it while Cho leaned in to read.

Dear Our Rich and Greedy Son,

We bought everything you asked for. We won't ask why — but keep them safe.

About the house-elves: we will contact the Office for House-Elf Relocation. Your father always wanted one, so we'll see how many we can arrange.

Tell Cho to be safe while flying. Safety first.

Also, honey dear — I'm glad you care about your girlfriend.

Stay extra safe and healthy.

Love,

Your Loving and Rich Mom and Dad

Alexander laughed out loud.

Cho immediately covered her face.

"They didn't have to write that…"

"Oh, they absolutely did," he said, still grinning.

They wrote a reply together:

Thanking them for the supplies

Confirming delivery

Assuring flight safety

Politely clarifying "girlfriend teasing."

Once they finished writing the letter and sealed it.

They finished up eating and went to the Owlrey to send off the letter.

The rest of the day was peaceful.

They walked the castle grounds.

Talked about Quidditch strategies.

Planned flight practice sessions.

And spent time in the Room of Requirement refining Cho's aerial spell casting while mounted.

Alexander watched her fly.

Her laughter and spell casting brought smiles to his face.

He knew that this year's Ravenclaw Quidditch team would win, especially now with a professional-grade broom.

By evening, the entire school knew:

Harry Potter received a Nimbus 2000.

Alexander bought Cho Chang a Nimbus 2000.

Jealousy spread in two very different directions.

Boys:

Wanted the broom.

Girls:

Wanted a boyfriend who could casually buy one.

Whispers followed them through corridors:

"He bought it for her…"

"Must be nice…"

"Rich and handsome…"

Cho walked slightly faster than usual, embarrassed.

Alexander, meanwhile, looked completely unfazed.

To him—

It was just another small investment in the future.

And Hogwarts had only begun to feel the effects of Alexander Chen's preparations.
