Chapter 140 - Gifts of the Forest

After breakfast, he called for Silver and Copper.

"Come on. We're visiting Nick again."

The two house elves nodded eagerly.

Moments later, Alexander mounted his broom, and the three of them flew off toward Jones' family estate.

This time, only Nick was waiting.

As soon as Alexander landed, Nick waved him over.

"Come on, let's go to the garden. I've got something to show you."

Alexander let Silver and Copper visit the other house elves while Alexander followed Nick deeper into the estate.

They arrived at a massive enclosed garden.

The moment Alexander stepped inside the garden was made with spatial expansion magic.

With the artificial sun hanging up and clouds slowly moving in the sky.

This wasn't Alexander's first time here.

As kids, he and their other childhood friends would come play in this garden all the time.

But every time Alexander came, he was always amazed.

Magical creatures everywhere.

Rare birds perched along enchanted branches.

Small horned mammals grazed peacefully.

Color-shifting lizards slithered across warm stones.

Floating jellyfish-like entities drifted lazily in the air.

Alexander was stunned by some of the new creatures.

Nick crossed his arms smugly.

"U.S. laws are way leaner than Europe. Easier to bribe, too. So… a lot of 'private acquisitions' happen."

Alexander walked slowly, absorbing everything.

Looking at all the new magical creatures and saying hi to the old ones.

They did a quick tour, and when they finished, Nick smirked.

"If you've got anything cool, I'll gift you something."

Alexander didn't even hesitate.

"Deal."

Nick blinked.

"That fast?"

Alexander smiled and said.

"Follow me."

Nick frowned in confusion.

Once they were outside the magical garden.

Alexander opened his briefcase, grabbed Nick's shoulder, and shoved him inside.

Alexander quickly entered the briefcase after Nick.

Nick stumbled as he landed.

"What the—?!"

Nick froze.

His jaw dropped after leaving the cabin.

He quickly looked around in amazement.

Different habitats.

Forests.

Lakes.

Open plains.

Artificial Sun and clouds.

Nick saw Alexander step outside the cabin and screamed with excitement.

"Did you get your briefcase already?!"

Alexander grinned.

"Welcome to my sanctuary."

He gave Nick the full tour.

Every biome.

Every creature zone.

Every expansion project.

Nick remained stunned the entire time.

Then, Alexander led him to his current prized possession.

The Adult Mountain Troll.

The massive creature rested peacefully in its enclosure.

Even from a distance, its size was overwhelming.

Nick stopped walking.

"…You have a troll."

Alexander nodded.

Nick laughed in disbelief.

"I've been asking my father for one for years."

He stepped closer but kept a safe distance.

"I want to trade."

Alexander shook his head immediately.

"No! I just got him. No trading yet."

Nick sighed.

"Fine."

They exited the briefcase.

Nick exhaled slowly.

"That case… from Mr. Scamander, right?"

Alexander nodded.

"Got it last year."

Nick smirked.

"I'll be getting mine soon. He promised I would get mine before my third year started. So in a few months I will have one too!"

Alexander wasn't surprised.

Jones' family connections ran deep.

While Alexander got his for free, Nick's parents probably paid a lot of money or gifted something amazing to get Mr. Scamander to make one for Nick.

Nick clapped once.

"Come on. I'm impressed. Time for your gift."

They left the briefcase and re-entered the magical garden.

Nick led Alexander deep into the forest.

Toward a quiet, hidden pond

The air started to feel purer.

As they approached the pond.

Alexander's eyes lit up, and he was amazed.

Unicorns.

Several of them.

Graceful.

Radiant.

Their coats shimmered under the daylight.

But what shocked Alexander most was that they didn't run away.

They slowly walked towards them.

Nick began petting them like horses.

"Go ahead. They're friendly."

Alexander hesitated at first. Then he reached out.

The moment his hand touched the unicorn's mane.

His eyes brightened.

His hands trembled slightly.

This was a living unicorn.

No book.

No forest glimpse.

No distant sighting.

Right here.

In front of him.

Nick chuckled.

"You look way too excited."

Then he dropped the real surprise.

"These unicorns just gave birth. Eight babies. I spoke with them. They're willing to give up two… if you want them."

Alexander didn't even respond.

He ran.

Nick burst out laughing.

"Wrong direction!"

Alexander froze, turned, and followed Nick.

They reached a stable-like sanctuary deep within the grove.

Inside—

Baby unicorns.

Eight of them.

Guarded closely by adult unicorns.

Alexander stepped in slowly.

Respectfully.

He observed each one.

Male.

Female.

Coat sheen.

Horn growth.

Temperament.

After careful selection, he chose one male and one female.

Nick nodded approvingly.

"After lunch, everything will be ready. I'll include a textbook and notes on how to properly raise them."

Alexander smiled genuinely.

"Thank you."

Nick waved it off.

"Let's eat."

After lunch, James the butler, guided them back toward the entrance of the magical garden.

Waiting there were the two baby unicorns.

Their parents were beside them.

The babies hesitated at first.

But after gentle nudges from their parents.

They approached Alexander.

One licked his hand.

The other nudged his side.

Alexander laughed softly.

He opened his briefcase and led them inside.

The unicorn parents followed, and they inspected the environment.

They did a quick check on their children's new home.

They were surprised by the Troll, but the Troll just waved at them happily.

Feeling no threat from the Troll, the unicorns began looking around again.

Satisfied, they left the briefcase.

Meanwhile, James and the house-elves transported supplies inside and constructed a proper sanctuary enclosure in the forest for the baby unicorns.

They even made a new pond in the forest.

Soft grass.

Crystal water.

Protective wards.

Once everything was finished.

The parent unicorns gave their farewells.

Gentle nuzzles.

Soft calls.

Then they departed.

Alexander let Silver and Copper lead the baby unicorns in the briefcase to their new home.

Once everything looked settled, Nick asked.

"Stay for dinner?"

Alexander shook his head.

"Got plans tonight."

Nick nodded.

"Come by anytime."

Alexander retrieved the broom and flew home under the late afternoon sky.

With two new sacred residents now living inside his growing sanctuary.
