Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 The Bet

"Bet? What kind of bet do you want to make?"

Garp glanced over, looking at Kyle with interest.

He wanted to see what this brat would say today.

"One week!"

"Give me one week. Let Luffy stay with me for this week."

"If his improvement with me is greater than his improvement with you, then Luffy will follow me from now on. How about that?"

"Of course, if I lose, I will bring you all the rice crackers my grandfather has hidden."

(☆▽☆).

As soon as these words were spoken, the old guy Garp instantly turned into starry eyes, his drool almost flowing out.

He wiped it and then spoke to Kyle,

"No problem! It's a deal."

"I'll hand Luffy over to you for a week. Just don't kill him."

Kyle, ....

He really is his own grandfather.

"Hahaha..."

Garp laughed loudly, then turned his gaze to Luffy beside him and said with a smile,

"Luffy, for the next week, you will follow this big brother. Grandpa won't take you with him."

"Okay, okay."

Hearing that he didn't have to follow Garp anymore, Luffy's eyes suddenly became extremely bright, and he nodded repeatedly.

Anyone was fine, as long as it wasn't Garp.

Thud.

"Ouch."

A dull sound was heard. Luffy squatted on the ground holding his head and moaning in pain, tears almost falling.

Garp glared at Luffy, his beard bristling.

"What do you mean by this, you brat? Is this the attitude you should have when parting from your grandpa? Shouldn't you be crying bitterly, utterly reluctant?"

Kyle's mouth twitched. He pulled Luffy up from the ground and stared at Garp.

"Old man. Our bet was just made. Luffy is now my person. You can't hit him anymore."

Luffy behind Kyle, hearing this, suddenly looked up, his gaze fixed blankly on Kyle's back. At this moment, he felt this figure was so tall.

"Huh."

"I need your permission to hit my own grandson?"

Garp's eyebrows shot up.

"I wouldn't dare have any opinion. After all, you are the famous Naval Hero. Who would dare have an opinion about you?"

"For a marine of your status, not keeping the bet, there's nothing I can do about it, right?"

Kyle shrugged helplessly, looking like there was nothing he could do.

"Heh."

Garp was angered into a laugh.

"You brat."

"Fine. I won't touch Luffy. I want to see how much Luffy can improve in a week. You just wait to bring me all the rice crackers your grandfather has hidden."

"It's still far from certain. Don't be in a hurry, Vice Admiral Garp."

Saying this, Kyle slowly turned and walked towards the location of the marine cafeteria. After a few steps, he suddenly paused, turned to look at Luffy still in the same spot, and waved his hand.

"Come on. I'll take you to eat meat."

"Meat."

Hearing this word, Luffy instantly jolted. Both of his eyes turned into the shape of meat. Drool dripped onto the ground, one drop after another. One couldn't say it was exactly the same as his grandfather, one could only say there was no difference.

"I'm coming."

Luffy ran towards Kyle on his short legs. During the process, he didn't look back at Garp even once.

This made Garp glare again, his beard bristling.

Kyle smiled slightly and waved at Garp.

"Then we'll be leaving first, Vice Admiral Garp."

After speaking, he took Luffy and walked forward.

Garp stood in place, watching the backs of the two youngsters, a glint flashing in his eyes.

"Sengoku, your grandson here, is a bit interesting."

When talking with Kyle, Garp didn't feel at all that the other party was like a child. His personality was a bit too mature.

"I want to see what you brat can do in this week."

After saying that, Garp put his hands behind his head.

Perfect. This week, he didn't have to train Luffy. He had time to rest properly.

Hmm. First, go to Sengoku and get a pack of rice crackers to eat.

"Kyle, is it true you said you'd take me to eat meat?"

On the road, Luffy looked at Kyle excitedly.

During this period, he had already gained a basic understanding of Kyle.

"Of course. Eat as much as you want."

"But, you have to call me big brother, okay?"

Kyle looked at Luffy as he spoke.

"Tch. Big brother? Such an embarrassing term, I can't say it."

"And looking at you, you're not much older than me. Want to be my big brother? Dream on."

Luffy looked at Kyle and said disdainfully.

(* ̄︶ ̄).

Hearing this, a smile appeared at the corner of Kyle's mouth.

Sure enough, Luffy was still Luffy. He was already this cocky when he was little.

So, as a big brother, Kyle felt it was necessary to let him know that when his wings aren't hard yet, it's best to keep his head down.

Kyle walked step by step towards Luffy, rubbing his hands together, making cracking sounds.

"What. Want to fight. Bring it on."

Seeing Kyle's posture, Luffy immediately got excited.

He had survived under his grandfather's inhuman methods. A mere little brat, how could he possibly be his...

Thud thud thud thud.

A series of dull sounds were heard.

After a while.

"I, I surrender."

Luffy lay on the ground, bruised and swollen. He didn't know where he got a small white flag and kept waving it.

"So, did you remember what I just said?"

Kyle looked at Luffy with a smile on his face. But this smile, in Luffy's eyes now, was even scarier than his grandfather.

"I remember, I remember. Big brother, from now on whatever you say goes. I won't talk back."

Luffy nodded repeatedly like pounding garlic, very compliant.

"Hmm. Good."

Kyle nodded with satisfaction.

"Let's go. Time to eat meat."

"The slow one gets no meat."

After saying that, Kyle rushed out directly.

Hearing the words 'no meat,' Luffy's body instantly jolted. He immediately jumped up from the ground. His two short legs spun like invincible windmill wheels as he chased after Kyle, shouting loudly,

"Kyle, wait for me."

...

"Mmm, delicious, delicious, really delicious."

Luffy stuffed meat into his mouth while speaking, his face full of satisfaction.

Kyle beside him looked at him with disdain.

"Your eating manners are so ugly."

"What's the point of having good eating manners? Do you know how long it's been since I had tasty meat? You try staying with my grandpa for a while."

Luffy glanced at Kyle and retorted.

It was just that Kyle hadn't stayed with his grandfather in the wilderness for a period, hadn't suffered that hardship. Otherwise, he wouldn't say such things.

Thinking of this, Luffy was filled with bitter tears.

Being with Garp, forget meat, being able to eat some normal vegetables was already very good.

Making a kid a few years old find food for himself in a forest full of wolves.

Damn, a child's version of wilderness survival.

Even when they occasionally had some meat to eat, given their grandfather-grandson situation, they just roasted it raw and ate it.

Compared to gnawing on tree bark, that was indeed already very good. But if compared to now, with this perfectly cooked, seasoned, flavorful grilled meat, the difference was just too big.

Thinking of this, Luffy couldn't help but squeeze out a few tears.

What a bitter life he had lived before.

The more he thought about it, the sadder he became. He could only eat more grilled meat to comfort his wounded heart.
