Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Baron Mordo — You Brat, You’re Not Done Are Y—

What happened in Asgard—

Karl, over at Kamar-Taj, naturally had no idea.

He also had no idea that a casual strike from him had directly shattered the Bifrost's teleportation.

Not knowing any of that, Karl very comfortably and carefree continued learning under Baron Mordo.

"Baron Mordo-sensei, how do you think my Lightning Sword is coming along?"

"Are there any problems?"

Karl spoke very humbly.

Baron Mordo's mouth twitched.

This brat—

What advice could he possibly give?

The power of that spell was even stronger than what Mordo himself could cast.

How was he supposed to "guide" that?

Was this some kind of joke?

All of a sudden, Baron Mordo felt like this brat's face had become a bit… punchable.

Having no self-awareness was one thing, but coming out here to show off too—annoying as hell.

Baron Mordo let out a sigh.

"Karl-kun, you're a genius."

"You learn magic very quickly, and the structure of this spell is extremely solid."

"The energy flow is also perfect."

"I don't think there's anything wrong anymore."

"Your magic—even among Master Sorcerers—counts as excellent."

"Relax. You don't need to worry about this."

Baron Mordo spoke in a consoling tone.

"Thank you, Baron Mordo-sensei."

Karl nodded shyly.

"Then… could you teach me another spell?"

He said it right after.

Baron Mordo rolled his eyes.

"Wow. So this is what you were waiting for?"

"No wonder you were so respectful. No wonder."

"Showing courtesy for no reason—either you're plotting, or you're stealing."

Baron Mordo said.

"How can you say that?"

"I'm just letting you show your ability as a teacher."

Karl said with a shameless grin.

"Enough. I know what kind of brat you are."

"Just say it. What spell do you want to learn?"

Baron Mordo said flatly.

"If possible, I want to learn a spell that saves my life."

Karl said.

Right now, whether defense or offense, his methods were already quite comprehensive.

In a fight, his magic could absolutely chain into combinations—more than enough for combat.

What he lacked most now—

Was a life-saving spell.

You had to develop in every direction—morals, intelligence, physique, aesthetics, labor—whole and complete.

After all, only by staying alive could you have a future.

Karl sighed inwardly.

"You're not wrong~."

"In battle, survival magic is indeed extremely important."

"A sorcerer who doesn't know survival magic has the highest mortality rate—even in other dimensions."

"For you to be thinking this way is very good."

Baron Mordo nodded.

"Then what spell do you think I should cultivate?"

Karl asked very humbly.

"Obviously—Ancient Body of Hoggoth."

Baron Mordo answered without hesitation.

"Oh! Butterfly Flight, huh."

Karl suddenly understood.

That really was an incredibly powerful survival spell.

Even attacks Thanos launched using the Infinity Stones could be blocked easily.

That alone showed how terrifyingly strong the spell was.

You could say—

This was absolutely Kamar-Taj's strongest life-saving spell.

However, hearing Karl's flippant remark, Baron Mordo's face darkened.

"That's not some ordinary butterfly. It's a powerful magical creature."

"It's an incarnation of Hoggoth—its body is illusory, and it cannot be attacked."

"It can withstand any attack."

"Even lethal attacks can be pardoned."

"Unless someone can annihilate the incarnation in an instant, you won't die at all."

Baron Mordo said.

"So that's how it is. Truly powerful."

"No wonder it can block such overwhelming attacks."

Karl nodded in realization.

Excitement immediately surged in Karl's heart.

He loved this kind of powerful magic.

Baron Mordo looked at Karl, a self-satisfied expression appearing on his face.

So what if this brat was a genius?

"Ahem. To give you a clear understanding of this spell, I'll demonstrate it for you."

"Come. Attack me."

Baron Mordo said calmly.

"Is that… really okay?"

Karl asked.

"What's not okay?"

"If you don't strike at me, how will you see how strong this spell is?"

"Only by experiencing it yourself can you understand its power."

Baron Mordo said.

"Then I'll have to offend you, Baron Mordo-sensei. My apologies for the disrespect."

As he finished speaking—

Karl flicked his hand, and a platinum-white longsword appeared in his grip.

Baron Mordo smiled. He didn't defend at all—just stood there, quietly watching.

"Baron Mordo-sensei, get ready."

Karl warned him.

The platinum-white holy sword in his hand slashed forward.

A massive platinum-white sword wave shot out from the blade.

Under the pressure of that terrifying force, the ground split open on the spot.

A fissure over a hundred meters long tore across the earth.

"Holy—!"

Seeing that sword wave stretching for over a thousand meters, Baron Mordo's face turned green.

This brat was way too monstrous!

The same spell, and he could unleash this kind of power?

Baron Mordo's expression sharpened. His mental force surged, and he activated the spell.

Pff!

A soft sound rang out.

Baron Mordo's entire body exploded, turning into countless glimmering green motes that filled the air.

In the next instant—

Those glimmering green motes formed into a sky full of butterflies.

The blinding platinum-white sword wave tore straight through them.

That thick, terrifying sword wave annihilated more than half the butterflies in one pass—it was horrifying to behold.

"...Ancient Body of Hoggoth really is incredible."

Karl couldn't help sighing.

[Ding!]

[Detected the host carefully observing a divine-attribute spell — Ancient Body of Hoggoth. God-tier talent triggers a hundredfold critical strike.]

[You have mastered Ancient Body of Hoggoth.]

The system notification sounded, and a smile rose at the corners of Karl's mouth.

This spell—

He learned it.

Over there, the green butterflies drifted in the air. In the next moment, Baron Mordo's figure reappeared.

Looking at Karl, Baron Mordo's mouth twitched again.

This brat—

Too monstrous, right?

The incarnation of Ancient Body of Hoggoth got annihilated by more than half?

A spell he'd just learned had this kind of power?

That was ferocious beyond reason.

He truly couldn't understand why this brat's talent could be so freakish.

Shaking his head, Baron Mordo looked at Karl and spoke.

"Well? Did you learn the spell?"

"You taught it well. I've already mastered it."

Karl answered very modestly.

Baron Mordo showed a "just as I expected" expression.

This brat—

He really was a freak.

A spell that was hardest for sorcerers to learn—one that required divine power—

Yet in this brat's eyes,

It was no different from ordinary magic at all.

Just one look, and he could learn it.

Baron Mordo felt it was beyond doubt—

This brat would definitely become a powerhouse on par with the Sorcerer Supreme!
