Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Adapting to a New Identity

Over the next few days, Emily gradually adapted to her new identity and family.

The Jang family was a genuine noble family in Korea, with business interests spanning technology, entertainment, real estate, and more. Father Jang Jin-ho had built a small company into a commercial empire from scratch. Mother Lee Jung-min was once an internationally renowned ballet dancer; though she left the stage after marriage, she remained a prominent figure in the arts.

Eldest brother Alex, 28, had begun taking over parts of the family business and was considered one of the most promising young talents in the business world. Second brother Daniel, 25, was a partner at a top law firm, specializing in international business law. Third brother Kevin, 22, was studying at Seoul National University Medical School, hailed as a medical prodigy.

And Emily, 18, had just graduated high school and was about to enter Seoul Institute of the Arts to study modern dance—her own choice and her mother's expectation.

"Do you really not remember how to dance?" Lee Jung-min looked at her daughter worriedly. Today, she had brought Emily to the private dance studio at home, hoping to help restore her memory.

Emily stood in the spacious studio, facing the wall mirror. In her past life, she had studied dance since childhood, dreaming of becoming a professional dancer until she met Kang Sung-hoon and gave it up. This life's Emily seemed to have inherited her mother's dance talent.

"I can try," Emily took a deep breath.

She closed her eyes, recalling dance moves from her past life. When she opened them, her body naturally began to move. At first somewhat stiff, but soon muscle memory kicked in. She performed a simple modern dance combination, fluid and expressive.

Lee Jung-min covered her mouth in delight: "Wonderful, dear! You dance even better than before!"

Emily stopped, breathing slightly heavily. The girl in the mirror had flushed cheeks, eyes sparkling—that was the love for dance that Anna once had.

"I think I just need more practice," she smiled.

"Of course," Lee Jung-min stepped forward and hugged her daughter. "Don't rush. You have the whole summer to recover. School doesn't start until September."

That evening at family dinner, Jang Jin-ho announced some news.

"Next week is Chairman Kim's birthday banquet. Our whole family must attend," he looked at Emily. "Especially you, Emily. This is your first public appearance since your 'recovery.' The media will definitely pay attention."

Emily felt a wave of nervousness. In her past life, Anna was just an ordinary person who had never experienced high-society social events.

"Don't worry, little sis," Kevin patted her shoulder. "With us here, no one dares to bully you."

"And you'll be the prettiest girl," Daniel added.

Alex was more practical: "I've already asked the stylist to come tomorrow to choose a dress and jewelry for you."

Emily looked at this family, warmth rising in her heart. They genuinely cared for her, loved her, even though the one they loved was the original Emily. But now, they were her family.

"Thank you," she said softly, tears of gratitude glistening in her eyes.

"Silly child, why thank us?" Lee Jung-min smiled tenderly.

Before bed, Emily stood on her room's balcony, overlooking Seoul's bustling nightscape. In the distance, Kang Sung-hoon's billboard still stood. Right now, he was probably enjoying his success with Im Ya-jin.

Strangely, when she thought of that once heart-wrenching face, there was no turmoil in her heart. Anna Lee's love had ended with her death. Now she was Emily Jang, with a brand-new life and limitless possibilities.

Her phone vibrated. A message from Kevin: "Little sis, third brother will take you for the best ice cream tomorrow to celebrate your recovery!"

Emily smiled and replied: "Okay, no backing out!"

A new life had begun.
