Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Canteen

"Can humans and demons be friends?"

Shesi didn't mind this at all. After all, having seen so much, what was this? In his previous life, there were many instances of cats and mice loving and killing each other, and wolves and sheep loving and killing each other. Humans and demons? That's a minor thing.

"Rather than friends, the two of us are more like compatible," Iruma seemed to want to explain something.

"Isn't that what humans call friends? Did I get it wrong?" Sullivan continued.

Iruma was a bit flustered. Did he have friends too? But he had never been friends with anyone... Thinking of this, Iruma's expression darkened. Remembering what he and his brother went through in the human world, how could someone like him have friends? Suddenly, a hand landed on his head.

"Why think so much? Why not ask them?" With that, Shesi pulled Iruma over. Before Iruma could speak, Clara ran up to Shesi and grabbed his hand.

"Hey, hey, She Si-chin, what's 'pengyou' that you mentioned yesterday? Is it something fun?"

"Lord Shesi?" Asmodeus also looked over, puzzled.

"Ah, that..." Shesi was a bit troubled. He thought for a moment but didn't know how to explain, so he looked at Iruma.

"Uh, this... a friend is an important person you play with and eat with," Iruma explained, also a bit confused.

Shesi nodded, indicating that was what a friend meant.

"Play together, eat together? Then..." Asmodeus fell into thought.

"Friends! Iruma-kun, She Si-chin, and I are all friends!" Clara didn't care about much else; she just knew that Iruma, Shesi, and Asmodeus would play with her, so they were her 'pengyou'.

The group walked towards the academy together. Upon arriving at the academy,

Asmodeus deliberately started to find topics of conversation.

"There's nothing particularly important today, so why don't we go check out the cafeteria?"

Shesi suddenly remembered the things he ate at home. Although they didn't look very appealing and weren't appetizing, they were indeed delicious demon world foods.

"I also think so."

The four arrived at the academy cafeteria. Shesi saw the menu and suddenly remembered that Babyls's cafeteria food seemed to be categorized by rank. He and Iruma didn't seem to have a rank yet, so how would they order? No, it seemed no one had a rank yet. The familiar summoning hadn't been issued because Naberius Kalego was on vacation. So, it looked like everyone could order the same things.

The four ordered their meals and started walking towards a table. Soon after, they had placed their orders. Shesi ordered some things that looked decent but he wasn't sure about the taste, while Iruma chose a little bit of everything.

As soon as the group sat down, a mountain of food was suddenly placed on their table.

Asmodeus quickly called out, "Hey, what are you doing?" Asmodeus asked, looking at the people in chef's uniforms.

"Huh? Didn't this side order 100 servings of food?" The chef asked, puzzled.

Asmodeus was momentarily stunned. He saw several other demons nearby laughing and watching them. Asmodeus immediately realized this was their prank.

"Lord Shesi, Lord Iruma, please allow me to teach them a lesson." Before Asmodeus could prepare to confront those people, the food in front of them was instantly devoured by Iruma and Shesi.

"Burp. I'm full." Shesi looked at the demons and smirked.

"I wonder what demons taste like."

Those demons immediately flinched in fear and ran away.

"Tch," Shesi scoffed, while Iruma beside him said,

"Head chef, another serving please."

The head chef looked at the petite child.

"Hmph hmph, quite an eater, aren't you, dagashi!"

Another serving... "Huh?"

...Another serving.

"..."

The unyielding head chef collapsed.

"As expected of Lord Iruma," Asmodeus exclaimed with admiration.

All the other demons also looked at Iruma with reverence.

Suddenly, a voice came.

"Pack her up and take her away!" A person dressed in a scary puppet costume, holding a bamboo spear, chased Clara out of the convenience store.

The group looked over. Clara seemed to think the person was playing with her.

"I am Kamkam, the owner of the convenience store. This girl can materialize anything she sees, which is equivalent to shoplifting. She's a demon of high alert. Shoplifting is to be met with a bamboo spear!" With that, he demonstrated his spear technique.

"Uh... that seems right," Shesi felt it made sense.

"Silence."

A voice rang out. Everyone looked towards where the voice came from. Kalego walked out.

"Really, coming to work after so long, and the idiots making a ruckus in the cafeteria are..."

Before Kalego could finish, he saw it was Iruma, Shesi, and the others.

Seeing it was Kalego, Iruma asked with concern,

"Are you feeling better?"

"You're the last person I want worrying about me!" Kalego said angrily, then looked at the group.

"Why are there more idiots?" Kalego looked at Clara nearby.

Clara immediately rushed forward and started speaking,

"I'm Clara. Um, I went to the convenience store and touched some items, and he got angry. But Asmodeus gave me snacks. Teacher Kalego, do you like chocolate? I put it in your pocket!"

Annoying + shameless + self-centered = the type Kalego was bad at dealing with. For this, Kalego chose his coping method.

"I'm going back."

Escape!

Unexpectedly, Clara stopped Kalego.

"I heard Teacher Kalego is Iruma-kun's familiar! Is that true? I want to see, I want to see~"

"Get out of the way, I'm leaving! Move aside!"

Clara ignored him and held onto Kalego, then said to Iruma,

"Iruma-kun, take that paper over there, put it in your hand, and raise it above your head."

Kalego was about to tell Iruma not to do it, but it was already too late.

Iruma obediently did as told. Then, a flash of light appeared, and Kalego once again transformed into that plump little bird familiar. Everyone was surprised again. Although they had heard that Iruma had turned his homeroom Teacher into a familiar, hearing is one thing, seeing is believing.

"It's really true! The Teacher turned into a familiar!"

"Amazing!"

"Idiot! Clap your hands quickly!" Kalego looked at Iruma.

"Huh? Do I need to clap to a rhythm for you?" Iruma looked at Kalego, who was being chased by Clara, in confusion.

"Idiot! That's how you dispel the summoning!"

"Oh, oh." Just as Iruma was about to clap, his danger-avoidance sense predicted someone was about to attack him from behind, and he immediately dodged.

"Shoplifting is unforgivable!" Kamkam, holding a bamboo spear, looked at Iruma and began to attack. Seeing this, the four quickly...

"The wind is strong, let's go!"

Only Kalego, who had turned into a familiar, was left behind.

"Wait! Dispel the summoning!"

Suddenly, a net covered Kalego's head. Kalego only felt a chill down his spine.

"Pay me quickly!"

Meanwhile, the group ran onto the lawn.

"Hey, hey, let's eat ice cream! I just picked it up from the ground," Clara said, pulling out four ice creams.

"We have to go pay later..." Iruma was a bit embarrassed... Inside the classroom office, Babyls's Teachers and Chairman Sullivan were discussing the class assignments.
