Chapter 67 - We're about to start a meeting, please sit closer.

The conference room was silent. Duan Yiheng took the meeting materials from Lin Xi and flipped through them. The important data was blurry, but everything else was intact.

He looked at Lin Xi and asked, "What happened?" All explanations were just excuses. Lin Xi immediately went to the conference table, handed a backup copy of the documents to Zheng Jizhong, and apologized:

"I'm sorry, Director Zheng, it was my mistake. I didn't notice the small problem with the printer. This is the backup." Zheng Jizhong snorted coldly, took the documents, and added:

"The interpretation of industry trends in the documents is too one-sided. No one here needs to read your tired old stuff. You've ignored the potential impact of emerging trends..." Duan Yiheng's fingertips lightly traced the rim of his glass, his gaze sharp and cold.

He glanced at Zheng Jizhong imperceptibly, and the latter suddenly fell silent. In the conference room, everyone's thoughts were unclear. Lin Xi straightened her back and spoke slowly and deliberately:

"Thank you for the reminder, Director Zheng. The information on industry trends may not be perfect, but before discussing emerging trends, we inevitably have to address the company's core business." "These businesses support Yin Fan Technology.

However, market competition is increasingly fierce, customer needs change daily, and we lose customers every year." "We need to reflect on the reasons for these losses. Forgetting the old for the new doesn't fit Yin Fan's survival rules." Just as she finished speaking, the head of the technical department suddenly chuckled.

Everyone knew that Zheng Jizhong had a whirlwind marriage and divorce, only seeing the new wife's smile while the old one's tears were forgotten. Zheng Jizhong's expression changed drastically; he truly hadn't expected a mere secretary to dare to subtly mock him. Lin Xi pretended not to hear the laughter, ignoring Zheng Jizhong's murderous glare, and continued:

"Yinfan's future development cannot be separated from the support of its traditional business. For emerging businesses, strategic planning, seizing opportunities, entering the market, and securing market share... all these require resources from the traditional business to sustain them."

"The company needs to expand, but it must proceed gradually, based on actual conditions. While accurately grasping market and technological requirements, existing businesses must also innovate and upgrade, optimizing product functions and increasing customer loyalty to combat customer churn."

"Today's meeting theme, President Duan, is about finding a sustainable balance between these two aspects." "These are just my humble opinions; I'm just showing off my limited knowledge. Please forgive my amateurish attempts." The head of the technical department applauded first: "Secretary Lin, you're too modest."

Lin Xi smiled: "President Duan is right." Duan Yiheng smiled, his back straightening unconsciously. He turned to Lin Xi and instructed: "Prepare for the meeting. Sit closer for easier communication."

Lin Xi leaned her chair forward, feeling secure in her position as the second-in-command. The meeting lasted two or three hours, leaving everyone exhausted. Lin Xi's back and buttocks ached. Back in her office, she slumped onto the sofa, rubbing her lower back.

Duan Yiheng entered, and the first thing he saw was her slender waist being caressed by her fair fingers. He coughed lightly, and Lin Xi immediately stood up, asking what he needed. Duan Yiheng: "You can go home now. You've worked hard today." "Are you working overtime?" Lin Xi asked. Duan Yiheng:

"I have something to discuss with Qin Yang." Lin Xi nodded sensibly, shut down her computer, and left. Duan Yiheng returned to his office and called Qin Yang on the intercom. Once Qin Yang arrived, Duan Yiheng cut to the chase: "Have you heard about what happened in the meeting room?"

Qin Yang nodded, his brows furrowed. "Director Zheng was too brazen. He embarrassed Secretary Lin in front of so many senior executives; he clearly doesn't respect you." Duan Yiheng sneered:

"His arrogance won't last long. How's the matter I asked you to handle?" Qin Yang: "Manager Jiang doesn't want to get involved in the internal strife, but being in a core department, he can't avoid it." Jiang Hulin was mentored by Zheng Jizhong, and he didn't want to betray him.

However, Zheng Jizhong's recent suppression had planted a thorn in his side. That thorn was Chen Liangyi. Jiang Hulin had always looked down on the ruthless Chen Liangyi, and naturally, he didn't have a good impression of this woman who almost stole his position.

Yet, Zheng Jizhong valued Chen Liangyi highly. This was merely his way of maintaining balance. Duan Yiheng's gaze was cold: "You really think you're an emperor?" Qin Yang: "Is everything going according to plan?" Duan Yiheng nodded:

"Next, all project resources will be dumped into the business department, using resource allocation to instigate a conflict between Jiang Hulin and Chen Liangyi." Qin Yang responded: "Understood." Duan Yiheng:

"Neither of them are easy to deal with. The sales department has been marginalized by Zheng Jizhong, and all projects have been transferred to the business development department. With his downfall, the two departments will need to redefine their responsibilities."

The two talked for an extra hour, and Duan Yiheng dealt with some work for a while before leaving the park at eight o'clock. Passing the first intersection, he suddenly told the driver to go straight: "To Jinglin, to see Grandpa."

Upon arriving at Jinglin, Duan Yiheng glanced at his watch, instinctively feeling that the old man should be asleep. However, he hadn't been there for several days; seeing him would bring him peace of mind.

As soon as he stepped into the living room, a burst of laughter rang out. Duan Yiheng took a few steps further in, curious, and found Lin Xi leaning against the old man, looking at something on her phone. "What are you looking at? Why are you laughing so happily?"

Lin Xi and the old man looked up simultaneously, both showing the same surprise. "Why are you here?" Lin Xi asked. Duan Yiheng sat down next to the old man, glancing at her. "What? You're allowed to come, but I can't?" Lin Xi: "...I didn't mean that." The old man

"Alright, alright, stop arguing. You two are on the same wavelength, okay?" "Okay." Duan Yiheng said, looking at Lin Xi. Lin Xi subconsciously touched her face, feeling like she still had traces of leftover food on it. Duan Yiheng chuckled softly and looked away.

The old man, abandoning his gentle demeanor towards Lin Xi, said to Duan Yiheng, "I'll be discharged next week. Your father will be coming over every day during this time." Duan Yiheng immediately understood the old man's meaning and said, "Understood. I'll have Sister Mei prepare a family feast then."

The old man nodded in satisfaction: "A little punishment is enough. Xiao Xi told me the whole story. Restricting his spending is fine, but confining him to his quarters is excessive." Since he'd already been confined for so many days, Duan Yiheng decided to give the old man some face.

As people age, they only hope for family harmony and prosperity. "Now it's your turn after all that," the old man said to Duan Yiheng. "Take some time these next few days to have a good talk with the Tan family's daughter."

"Grandpa—" "Yiheng, you should understand that the moment you want power, your marriage is no longer your choice." "Since I've become the master of the Duan family and Yin Fan, I inevitably have to give up something." Duan Yiheng clenched his fists, momentarily at a loss for words.

Not content with dropping one bombshell, the old man turned to Lin Xi and gave her another order: "Xiao Xi, as your elder brother's secretary, you also need to consider his future. Make the arrangements." "Huh?" Lin Xi was stunned. "I arrange it?" The old man chuckled:

"You're his secretary. If he wants to go on a blind date, you naturally need to choose a suitable place. Flowers and all that are essential. You're a girl, you know what girls are thinking. By the time your elder brother finally understands, the sun will have risen in the west." Lin Xi nodded blankly: "Okay."

Duan Yiheng felt a tightness in his chest and suddenly stood up: "Grandpa, you should rest. I'm leaving now." The old man tugged at Lin Xi: "Go after him and persuade him." Lin Xi said "Okay" and ran after him.
