Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

New business?

What new business?

Get lost.

Kangetsu didn't have that kind of idea for the moment.

But he still had to put on a show.

Every day when he got home, Kangetsu wore the same "working himself to the bone" expression.

In reality, he shut the door and spent his time flirting and fooling around with Yukine, Haruno, and Sae.

He didn't slack on training, either.

The moment his Chakra filled back up, he trained immediately.

Still, whenever he went out these days, the number of guards lurking in the shadows only kept increasing.

Just among the ones Kangetsu knew about, there were ANBU, Root, the Ino–Shika–Cho trio, the Utane clan, and the Mitokado clan.

They were terrified something might happen to their moneybag.

He had no choice.

The entire village's only businessman—everyone was waiting for him to lead them to riches.

And over on Danzo's side, he ultimately still couldn't get those people what they wanted.

The Third Hokage had already made his position clear.

Missions.

You'll be given more preferential treatment on missions.

No one panic.

Just wait for that capable young man to have a flash of inspiration and come up with some new business.

Of course, there were always people who refused to accept it.

They figured if Kangetsu could do business, why couldn't they?

The ones who lost their shirts before? That just meant they were incompetent!

When that line got out, the whole village was stunned.

Who?

Who was that hardheaded?

Oh, the Uchiha…

Well, that explained it.

Kangetsu was curious too.

The Uchiha could do business?

He'd personally watched them imitate him with a clothing venture.

And then lose their shirts.

When that group of Uchiha finally slunk back to Konoha in defeat, the village gained yet another "beautiful" sight.

What sight?

Uchiha selling off their ancestral property.

Even Kangetsu didn't know what to say anymore.

The Uchiha had been doing slightly better than the Hyuga before.

Now?

At this rate, they were going to look even more pitiful than the Hyuga "has-beens."

And the Uchiha's fiasco only deepened Konoha's stereotype: aside from Kangetsu, nobody in this village had a business brain.

Whatever.

Business just wasn't something they could pull off.

Our village had exactly one top student, so of course everyone had to protect that one business-minded brain for dear life.

As a result, Kangetsu's unspoken status quietly climbed again without anyone noticing.

He was their precious moneybag.

Touch him, and you were touching Konoha's moneybag.

If someone reached their hand into your moneybag, what do you do?

Naturally—leave no one behind.

At the same time, the Hyuga clan's list came out.

The main family elder personally came to Kangetsu's door and respectfully handed over the list.

Kangetsu, in turn, demonstrated his loyalty by submitting the list to the Third Hokage.

The old man took one look at Kangetsu's attitude and nodded with deep satisfaction.

With a wave of his hand, he approved it.

Then the Hyuga clan erupted into celebration—lanterns hung, decorations everywhere, a full-on festival atmosphere.

Twenty-five hospital staff.

Twenty-five frontline peddlers.

That was all money.

But the Hyuga's bragging immediately made a lot of other clans jealous.

So the Hyuga clan promptly released a statement.

"Kangetsu-sama is the Hyuga clan's husband!"

"All of this is husband-sama giving benefits to our Hyuga clan first!"

"The logic is on our side. If you're still jealous, that's your problem."

Tokuma, who'd already been punished by clan discipline, came out swaggering around anyway.

He grabbed a few clan members and tried to drag them out to a yakiniku place for a night of partying.

Only to be pinned down on the spot by the Hyuga main family elder.

"I knew you little animal wouldn't behave!"

"This money is to support the whole clan!"

"It's not for you to go 'have fun' with!"

"Did you sort it all out?"

...

Inside the Kangetsu residence, Yukine asked Haruno.

It wasn't that Yukine wasn't doing anything.

It was that she was being thoroughly "kept busy."

She was perched on Kangetsu's lap while he held her close, kissing her with leisurely insistence, his hand wandering with the kind of familiarity that made her ears burn.

Off to the side, Sae passed over fruit.

But her gaze kept drifting to Haruno.

So that's how it was.

Those two women had probably prepared plenty of business ideas ahead of time.

Yukine felt like she'd learned something.

If you wanted to compete for favor at your man's side, you couldn't rely on sweet talk alone.

You also had to come prepared.

Haruno was unusually well-behaved right now.

Because she understood perfectly: business was also the weight she and Yukine carried in Kangetsu's heart.

Kangetsu glanced over in the middle of everything.

"Mmm…"

Yukine shot him a look.

Where exactly are you looking…

Looking was one thing.

Touching was another.

And the way he kept getting carried away only made her even more flustered.

Kangetsu, for his part, felt that doing business had to stay grounded in reality.

On one hand, it had to be profitable.

On the other, it had to avoid Konoha's sensitive lines.

Some ventures simply couldn't be touched.

For example: ninja tools.

Even if he wasn't starting a new business right away, he still had to plan ahead.

He was waiting.

Waiting for the expectations of Konoha's major clans to build.

It wasn't as if someone could just flap their lips once and he'd start throwing money around.

He had to make these people understand that Kangetsu was exhausting himself—heart and soul—for Konoha…

He stole another kiss, looking every bit the righteous pillar of the village.

Just as it seemed like Yukine was about to be swept away again, Haruno immediately refused to stand for it.

How was it always Yukine getting all the good stuff?

Today, Haruno was going commando.

One flip of her short skirt and… well.

Convenient.

Sae didn't do anything extra.

Her legs were still shaky.

And she was still sore and tender enough that she wasn't sure how she'd even made it through earlier.

There were moments she'd been pushed so hard she'd ended up bumping into the cabinet by the bed.

It was miserable.

And yet—somehow—also not.

Who could handle that?

So she'd learned to stack a couple pillows as padding.

"Unfilial girl!"

Yukine snapped awake, instantly embarrassed and furious.

Because a certain "unfilial girl" had started causing trouble again.

Hmph!

Now you know how formidable your "main wife" is, right?

Haruno planted her hands on her hips, ready to—

Eh?

Haruno suddenly made a face and shook her hands in disgust.

So gross.

No wonder her hands felt damp when she tried to pose.

Sae calmly shifted aside, avoiding the little droplets Haruno flung around.

She couldn't help thinking Haruno was completely shameless.

Even Yukine, she'd dare to…

So when it came to Sae herself, Haruno probably wouldn't hold back in the slightest.

That was something to be careful about.

Kangetsu watched their bickering with a grin.

He liked this kind of decadent—no, he meant—warm, cozy life.

Then he waved a hand grandly.

"Party time."

"Everyone. Come on."

"No."

Yukine chose to retreat.

She'd been on top for a while earlier.

Yes.

She was also going commando.

It really was… convenient.

Sae didn't want to, either.

Her lower belly still felt uncomfortably full.

Only Haruno was delighted.

"Come on!"

"Who's afraid of who?"

"Today, I'm getting my money's worth!"
