Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Jingliu: You better be

"Little Wangshu~"

It wasn't until the portable small car smoothly drove away from the bustling crowd at the Academy gates that Jingliu slowly calmed her nerves.

Though her eyes were still slightly rimmed with red, looking as if the corners had been brushed with rouge, revealing a hint of grievance.

"There's really nothing going on between her and me; we've only known each other for two days."

Wangshu explained earnestly while keeping an eye on the road conditions.

Two days was truly too short—far too short—especially considering the other party was a Swarm King, a creature viewed with intense hostility by Senior Jingliu and Asta in the group.

"..."

Little Jingliu didn't speak. She lifted her small face, her crimson eyes gazing calmly at Wangshu. The intensity from before was gone from her gaze; she simply pursed her lips.

"The two of us are different."

Wangshu's tone was rarely this serious, carrying a hint of panic. Work was work, and life was life. Two days of work was like the blink of an eye, but in the four days of life, every minute and every second could not be casually ignored.

"I can't tell."

Little Jingliu lowered her gaze. She sat to the side, hugging her chest. Even though the seat was only so big and they were practically shoulder-to-shoulder, she deliberately leaned her body to the other side, tensing her small frame.

She didn't touch Wangshu in the slightest, like a prickly little hedgehog having a tantrum, raising its quills.

It wasn't until a moment later—whether she was still uneasy or simply curious—that she quietly shifted her body. She sprawled over the low backrest of the small car, poking her little head out to look at the stream of people gradually receding behind them.

It was the Academy's midday dismissal time. The crowd of people going home or eating there was bustling, yet she still instantly captured the sight of the bad woman, Huoshi, from the crowd, who looked as leisurely as if she were sunbathing.

Wangshu also turned his head to look. Seeing Miss Huoshi's soft profile in the sunlight, he suddenly froze.

Wait! The data collector!

He had been so focused on bickering with Little Jingliu earlier that he completely forgot to ask for that thing back from Huoshi!

"I don't like her."

Jingliu's voice was muffled, carrying a pure, unmasked emotion.

Wangshu wore a mournful smile, his voice faintly trembling: "I don't like her either."

"That sounds like a lie."

Jingliu raised her eyes again, unceremoniously piercing through his words.

In the distance, the bad woman was still standing in the same spot. She had even noticed their backward glance. A smile rippled across her face as she gently waved her hand, displaying the object she held.

Before she could even see clearly what it was, Huoshi flicked her wrist. The small object traced a precise parabola, flying toward the direction of their small car.

Jingliu's fur bristled instantly.

"What is this!?"

...

Huoshi watched the small car drive around the corner in the distance before retracting her gaze. Then, her eyes shifted slightly, glancing toward the blue-tiled buildings far away.

That figure, appearing neither male nor female, had already vanished. It was an Abundance Emanator.

"Cangcheng really is a good place. A mix of dragons and snakes, where everyone takes what they need," Huoshi whispered to herself.

Xianzhou people possessing the new era's spirit of The Trailblaze are here, panning for gold and chasing dreams.

The IPC also fancies Cangcheng. The war between the Xianzhou Alliance and The Abundance is continuous, but with the Xianzhou being the premier power under the command of the Aeon of The Hunt, how could others not value the commercial value and strategic significance within?

"Propagation, The Hunt, Abundance."

She looked up at the high sky. The blue sky simulated by the artificial canopy was as clear as if washed. During the day, the fluorescent white glow of the Langgan Tree wasn't obvious, but the pure Abundance divine power contained within was so tempting, provoking covetousness.

"The Langgan Jade Tree; its fruit resembles pearls, its entire body warm and moist like jade."

She suddenly understood. She understood it all. The cubs of The Abundance needed the Langgan Jade Tree, so what about Wangshu, whose fusion with the Propagation origin was imperfect?

Although this had nothing to do with her—Wangshu himself didn't care about the Abundance Emanator, so there was no need for her to worry.

That mellow and sweet scent slowly drifted away. Faintly, she could still hear Little Jingliu sulking in the distance, as well as her insisting on trying out the data collector.

Wangshu: "Emergency help, how do I delete the data in the data collector?"

Jingliu: "Why delete it?"

Wangshu: "Little Jingliu was unconvinced and took it to use."

Jingliu: "..."

Wangshu: "@Asta"

No one responded. It was a long time before Asta found a spare moment to send a message.

Asta: "Chat later. Just discovered an interesting person appeared on the Space Station. Now it's my turn to show off my divine might."

After saying this, Asta went offline again.

After all, she was the Station Lead of Herta Space Station, and a responsible good Station Lead at that; being busy was definitely normal.

Jingliu: "I still haven't figured it out. Why would I be unconvinced? To the point of using that kind of thing."

Wangshu: "It's all the Huoshi Swarm King's fault. Today, when fulfilling the agreement, she insisted on using ambiguous phrasing, saying our agreement was about a 'child,' and only took out that data collector at the very end."

Wangshu: "I tried hard to explain, really, but Little Jingliu truly doesn't believe that it's just a data collector."

He didn't know where Little Jingliu's thoughts had wandered, nor did he understand why a small data collector was so exquisite—it even had a plum blossom mark on it, looking exceptionally beautiful.

Jingliu: "So what does this have to do with me being unconvinced?"

Wangshu: "Our relationship is very good."

Little Jingliu had already fallen asleep. This data collector seemed to have sleep-inducing effects. That data collector was currently lying quietly in her slightly curled palm.

The sleeping Little Jingliu looked exceptionally well-behaved, shedding all the stubbornness, liveliness, or petty temper she had when awake. Her smooth hair, graduating from white to blue, hung over her chubby little face, rising and falling slowly with her steady breathing, the movement very slight.

Only her lips were slightly pursed, as if she was still a bit unconvinced even in her dreams.

Jingliu: "Oh..."

Actually, she could understand. After all, Wangshu counted as a friend of her past self. Given Little Jingliu's personality—cool, lacking security, yet carrying a bit of a protective instinct—there was a high probability she would look after Little Wangshu.

It was just that Wangshu, this little brat, had very poor language skills. He insisted on using 'ambiguous' to describe the Huoshi Swarm King and himself. Saying at this juncture that Little Jingliu didn't believe him and was unconvinced... it just made her feel weird.

Wangshu: "..."

Jingliu: "..."

Wangshu: "Senior?"

Jingliu answered quickly: "It's nothing, little brother. I clicked wrong just now."

Wangshu remained silent for a moment, deciding to go along with the excuse: "Mn, the Chat Group interface settings do have issues; it's always easy to misclick."

Jingliu: "Candle.jpg"

Wangshu tried to liven up the atmosphere: "Do not ask the Warrior of Light such dark questions.jpg"

Jingliu: "Where... am I currently?"

Wangshu: "In the car, still sleeping."

Jingliu: "Then it's fine."

Little Jingliu was indeed currently in the car.

However, the small car had already stopped steadily at the door of their home. Wangshu turned off the engine. The small car didn't have seatbelts, but leaning against him, Little Jingliu didn't need a seatbelt.

He bent his waist, carefully picking up Little Jingliu, who was sound asleep. Her body was very light, soft as a cloud.

Wangshu looked at her defenseless sleeping face, reaching out to gently tuck the few mischievous strands of hair on her cheek behind her ear.

"Let's skip class again this afternoon. Even if a teacher comes for a home visit, it doesn't matter. I will always stand on Little Jingliu's side."
