Chapter 96 - Chapter 96 But That Kind of Thing Can’t Happen Quickly!

The next day, fans who saw the news immediately fell into heated debate.

If the Clippers and the Golden State Warriors really threw down, who would be the last team standing!?

In terms of reputation alone, the Warriors, known for being the best team, certainly looked intimidating.

But Beverley, Carmelo, and Kai Chen were hardly pushovers.

Especially after Kai Chen's two brutal poster dunks that sent Draymond Green crashing to the floor.

If things truly escalated, which side could hold out until the end became a genuine question.

Some people argued:

"Draymond Green's fist would send Kai Chen straight to meet his great-grandmother!"

"Sure, Kai Chen can hoop, but if he went one-on-one with Green, he'd get destroyed!"

"No one beats Draymond in a fight!"

Others countered:

"Green clearly backed down during that whole confrontation."

"Didn't you see Kai's violent dunks?? And people say he'd lose?"

"Please. Green just talks tough. In a real fight, he'd get his ass kicked!"

Regardless of who would win such a hypothetical clash, one thing was undeniable.

The feud between the Clippers and the Warriors had fully reignited.

After the loss in Oakland, the Clippers boarded their flight back to Los Angeles.

Following that brutal five-game road trip, the team was scheduled for a short three-day break.

Given the players' exhaustion, Doc Rivers generously granted them a two-day long weekend.

The scene shifts to Beverly Hills.

Kai Chen declined Grayson Allen's invitation and headed straight home.

"I'm back!!"

Pushing open the door, Kai stepped inside.

"Kendall?"

Seeing Kendall sitting quietly on the sofa, her expression unusually downcast, Kai asked, puzzled, "What's wrong?"

Kendall slowly looked up, brushing aside the loose strands of hair framing her face.

"Kai…"

Her voice trembled.

The next second, she rushed forward, wrapping her arms tightly around Kai Chen as soft sobs escaped her lips.

Kai froze briefly, then quickly returned the embrace, gently patting her back.

"What happened? Don't cry. Tell me."

Through tears, Kendall recounted the swirling rumors linking him to Selena.

By the time she finished, Kai Chen felt a headache coming on.

He hadn't expected the paparazzi to be this relentless.

Kendall's tear-streaked face, trembling body, reddened eyes, everything about her looked heartbreakingly fragile.

Her chest rose and fell rapidly with emotion.

"Kendall, there's nothing going on between Selena and me."

Kai sighed, seamlessly slipping into an Oscar-worthy performance.

"You may not know this, but Grayson Allen has always liked Selena."

"After the game, he was the one who asked me to get her contact information."

"And those paparazzi photos were taken from a misleading angle. Grayson was there too."

Grayson Allen: I asked for her contact, not for you to steal the spotlight!!!

Kai Chen stepped forward and pulled Kendall back into his arms.

"How could Selena possibly compare to you?"

"I'm not an idiot. Why would I ever give up someone like you?"

Under his steady reassurance, Kendall's emotions gradually stabilized.

After a shower, the two returned to the bedroom together.

"Be gentle…"

Kai Chen's heart softened as his hands began to wander.

Feeling his touch, Kendall, who had been sobbing just moments ago, immediately regained her playful composure.

"Some things can be fast," she murmured teasingly, "but that kind of thing absolutely cannot."

Kai feigned confusion.

"What kind of thing can't be fast?"

He expected her usual coy deflection.

Instead, Kendall answered bluntly:

"If you finish too quickly when you're with me, I won't let you off!"

Kai laughed softly.

But just as he leaned in, Kendall pushed him back.

"No rush. Let's handle the important part first."

With that, she flipped positions, pinning Kai beneath her and beginning her own "preparation work."

Several hours later, Kai Chen looked at the utterly exhausted Kendall beside him and shook his head.

How could a Bronze-tier player possibly compete with a King-tier player?

Getting up, he wandered downstairs.

There, sitting alone on the living room sofa, was Kylie.

"Yo, why are you still up?"

"Annoyed. I Can't sleep."

Kai Chen's lips curled into a mischievous grin.

Perfect timing.

He casually walked over and sat beside her.

Kylie immediately shifted away, eyes wary.

"Aren't you going to sleep?"

"I can't sleep either."

Kai sighed dramatically.

Kylie shot him a knowing look.

"You two seemed to be having plenty of fun earlier."

"My sister was so loud I could hear everything downstairs."

"Oh?"

Kai smirked.

"What exactly did you hear?"

Before Kylie could respond, his hand moved instinctively.

"What are you doing?!"

Kylie stiffened instantly.

"Relax. Just conducting a physical examination."

Kylie frowned.

"If you're going to lie, at least make it believable."

Lowering her voice, she struggled firmly.

"My body is perfectly fine."

After what happened last time, Kylie had sworn to keep her distance.

She absolutely could not risk Kendall discovering anything.

But Kai Chen clearly had other ideas.

Just as he leaned closer, Kylie grabbed him tightly.

"If you move again, I'm going to tell Kendall."

Kai Chen paused.

Judging by her expression, tonight was clearly a lost cause.

Still unwilling to retreat entirely, he leaned closer and whispered:

"Don't worry. I'll just sit here quietly. I won't do anything."

Kylie frowned, attempting to pull away.

But after several failed attempts, she finally gave up.

As long as he behaved, she would tolerate it.

Silence slowly filled the living room.

Neither of them spoke again.
