Chapter 1 - Greed

Greed.

Greed is the greatest sin.

Greed is not just jealousy and wanting something.

Greed is something far worse.

It's insidious, covetous, and when denied, it's violent.

Against itself and others.

Greed's true form is unseen as it lives in the hearts of all beings.

With a crown of reaching hands and three eyes facing different directions, it stares at everything it wants, yet refuses to look down at what it has.

Greed is blinded by its own hands, full, yet it continually reaches out for more.

Greed is relentless.

Greed is sly.

Greed is never satisfied.

Below its feet lie all that it's taken, unacknowledged in its search for wanting more.

Greed is a disease that festers in the silence of the night.

Like a tumor, it spreads and infects everything around it.

Greed will twist and change itself to accomplish its goal.

Greed will stop at nothing to get what it wants, no matter the cost to itself and others.

And when it gains everything it wants, just as land will turn to nothing after being ravaged and stripped of everything of value, greed leaves nothing behind.

Not even dust.

Of the seven deadly sins, Greed is the greatest sin.

While the others are harmful in excess, even in moderation Greed has no purpose other than selfishness and always brings harm to someone.

Wrath to gain the strength to stand up to injustice.

Sloth to rest and recover.

Pride to maintain a sense of self and strength behind your belief.

Lust to procreate.

Gluttony to satisfy hunger.

Envy to motivate self-growth and aspiration.

But Greed cannot be self-contained.

Greed always has a victim.

Therefore,

It is not wrath, sloth, pride, lust, gluttony, or even envy that should be watched out for.

It is greed.

May Your Greed Never Be Sated
