BWDC:SDDK Chapter 12: Not Good! Someone's Raiding the House!

"Thank you, Professor Agasa!"

Ren Ichimonji shook Professor Agasa's hand with great solemnity, saying earnestly, "Your actions have made an indelible contribution to the security of Beika Town!"

"For instance, you've saved the Beika citizens' friendly neighborhood savior from the dire crisis of having nowhere to go and eventually fainting from hunger on the side of the road!"

---Is it really that exaggerated?

Professor Agasa stood there dazed, shaking Ren Ichimonji's hand, as the thought suddenly popped into his mind.

Beside them, the Reaper Elementary Student watched their performance with a look of utter helplessness.

He couldn't help but shake his head.

Good heavens, the Dark Knight of Beika Town is actually taking money from a balding old man. Is this a loss of humanity, a distortion of morality? Or is it some plot by the Joker?

"...Hey, what's with that look?"

Faintly sensing someone mocking him behind his back, Ren Ichimonji glanced sideways at Conan.

However, the moment he turned his head, Conan had already looked away.

This annoying elementary student in the blue suit even started whistling on the spot, acting as if it had nothing to do with him.

To be honest, isn't this just trying too hard to hide it? Ren Ichimonji thought cynically.

However, he didn't actually call him out.

It wasn't that he was worried about the Reaper's halo suddenly activating; he just didn't want to argue with his youngest "Robin." Yes, that was it.

"Anyway, thanks a lot, Professor Agasa."

"Don't worry, I'll pay you back with interest within a week at most!"

The Dark Knight of Beika Town spoke with grand confidence.

He turned and prepared to leave with resolute determination.

Then, as he approached the door, he suddenly turned back to Professor Agasa.

This sudden move made the Professor freeze. "Uh, what's wrong?"

Ren Ichimonji asked with a serious and solemn expression, "I have one more very serious question."

"Where is the nearest bank? Which way should I go?"

After obtaining a Beika Town urban planning map.

The Supreme Bat-ling finally left Professor Agasa's house and headed toward his loyal Tohto Bank.

Watching Ren Ichimonji disappear into the distance, Professor Agasa turned back, planning to tinker with a new invention—

When Conan came back yesterday, he asked for help to enhance the functions of his plain-glass tracking glasses.

He wanted to add some magnification and analysis capabilities on top of the original design...

Any ordinary researcher would shake their head just looking at the materials.

But if it was Professor Agasa, that was a different story.

However, just as Professor Agasa turned around, he was startled so badly his ideas for the modification almost vanished.

"Conan, when did you get there?" he said with a hint of a complaint.

There stood Conan, who had been on the floor just a moment ago. He had somehow moved a stool and was now standing on it, staring out the window at Ren Ichimonji as he walked away with the map.

The swiftness of this move was elusive—even more "Batman" than Batman himself.

Noticing the Professor's gaze, the Reaper Elementary Student coughed twice and silently climbed down from the stool.

He turned toward the bedroom with an air of feigned profundity, saying somewhat awkwardly, "It's nothing, don't mind me."

"Professor, I'm going to take a nap for a while. Remember to call me when it's time for lunch..."

Hearing this, Professor Agasa asked with some confusion, "What about over at Mouri's? Should I call Ran and let her know?"

---Tell Ran?

Conan froze.

He stopped in his tracks, rubbed his chin, and recalled what Ran was supposed to do today.

Last night on the Queen Selizabeth, it seemed Ran and Sonoko had made plans to go to Beika Park.

Well, it shouldn't be a big deal. No need to worry, nothing will go wrong.

The Reaper Elementary Student waved his hand, indicating it was fine.

Then, just as he stood on his tiptoes to grab the bedroom doorknob, his hand paused again.

Hmm? Beika Park? Why does something feel off?

Conan let go of the handle and turned back to Professor Agasa.

He asked seriously, "If I remember correctly, there's a branch of Tohto Bank near Beika Park, right?"

Professor Agasa nodded.

"And... the closest one to here is that Tohto Bank branch... right?" Conan asked again.

Professor Agasa nodded once more.

"If someone wanted to go to that branch to handle some business... they would definitely have to pass through Beika Park, wouldn't they?"

Conan asked for the last time, his tone heavy.

This time, even without Professor Agasa's answer, he already knew the truth—

Not good! Someone's raiding the house!

If he remembered correctly, Sonoko seemed to have been completely charmed by that "god-tier" man's looks back on the ferry.

If she ran into him again at Beika Park, wouldn't she be swindled away immediately?!

Regardless of the circumstances, he and Suzuki Sonoko were childhood friends.

How could he let Suzuki Sonoko be lured away by a person of unknown identity for the umpteenth time!

Conan immediately grabbed his jacket and rushed outside.

He remembered clearly: every time a boy took the initiative to approach Sonoko, it was always the type who had illegal intentions!

To be safe, he had better go and intercept them!

"Professor, let me borrow that skateboard you finished earlier!" he shouted.

Without waiting for the Professor's permission, he snatched the red solar-powered skateboard resting by the door.

Using the "Heaven-Tier Skateboard Combat Techniques" he learned in Hawaii, Conan performed a phase-shift dash and instantly vanished from Professor Agasa's sight.

"Eh, wait, that skateboard..." Professor Agasa said hurriedly.

He threw the door open, but the boy was already completely gone. He could only mutter to himself.

"Uh, Shinichi, are you coming back for lunch?"

Oh well. At most, the skateboard might snap halfway.

No matter, kids are tough. Shinichi's elementary form was much more durable than his high school form anyway.

"Beika Park, Tohto Bank..."

Ren Ichimonji held the map, occasionally comparing it with his surroundings as he walked forward.

He was truly unfamiliar with the layout of Beika Town.

Unlike other people who were reincarnated, he had crossed over in his physical body; he had no extra meMouries to speak of.

If Professor Agasa hadn't given him a map, he probably would have gotten lost on the road of life.

"...What the heck, why is Beika Park symmetrical?"

"Does the designer have OCD?" Ren Ichimonji muttered.

He reached up and pressed down on the two small tufts of hair on the sides of his head that looked like ears.

In the end, he decided to just find someone nearby to ask.

The Great Batman of Beika Town looked left and right.

Finally, he noticed two very familiar-looking people who had just walked out of a volleyball gym nearby, so he quietly approached them.

He asked, "Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to the Beika Park branch of Tohto Bank?"

The two "defenseless" high school girls in uniforms jumped in surprise and turned their heads simultaneously.

Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki: "!"

How did you get here? How do you walk without making a single sound?!
