Chapter 26 - The Streaming Veteran Has Returned (26)

Survival Day 1

I died in vain, and a system message appeared.

Not knowing how to react, I just stared blankly at the system message. Then a donation came in.

FarmingJoah has donated 1,000 won!

If you were going to receive the guide, you should have waited a bit...

"You told me to find the crafting table first, so I thought it would be okay to touch it..."

I never imagined the security system would activate there. I had no idea that just touching that one thing would cause so many robots to pour out and attack me.

If I had known this would happen, I would have looked up some videos beforehand.

I played for 30 minutes and didn't even manage to have a proper run once...

Damn, that ended fast

Is this really the end?

The end?

You're ending it like this?

The end?

The end?

Honestly, I really wanted to queue up one more round.

But if I did that here, it felt like I'd end up streaming way too long. Of course, 30 minutes was a pretty awkward amount of time.

Better to end it on a cliffhanger and set aside another day for it.

Having made that decision, I opened my mouth right away.

"Alright, that's it for Punk Punk today. If I play one more round, I think it'll seriously go on too long."

What a shame

When you die like that, it kind of kills the motivation to keep playing

Still, is it right to end it here?

I thought you'd at least go for an hour

You're really ending it like this?

Even the viewers were saying it felt disappointing to stop here.

I had expected that. Still, I was relieved the reactions weren't as intense as I feared. This was manageable with just words.

"If I want to rest again tomorrow and come back the day after, this is the right place to stop. If I go any further, I won't be able to rest properly tomorrow, and I might even have to rest the day after too."

As soon as I said that, the viewers who had been asking me to keep playing completely switched stances.

If hyung says he's resting, then he should rest

I agree with ending the game here

No one can stop hyung

Shouldn't you just do what you want?

I wasn't really against it anyway

Apparently the idea of a longer break really bothered them, because they suddenly took my side very actively. There were probably more new viewers than long-time fans, but seeing them react like that still felt good.

Not that it would really change much, though.

"I'll chat for a bit before I go, so cut me some slack."

Yeah

Rest well

Let's go right in!

Guess I won't be watching a stream tomorrow for once

After that, I chatted for nearly another hour before finally ending the stream.

After finishing the stream in the evening and sleeping, I woke up to find the sun already high in the sky. That just showed how exhausted I had been.

After opening my eyes, I drank some water, stopped by the bathroom, and naturally sat down in front of my computer. It had been a while since I streamed on PC, but out of habit, I always sat at my computer when I woke up.

I turned on the PC, browsed the internet, and watched some CapTube. As the saying goes, sleep is the best medicine, and after a deep rest, I felt much better.

Is there any information about Quasdae?

Tomorrow, they were announcing the participants and holding the mock auction at the same time, so I figured there might be some pre-released information. After searching a bit, sure enough, there was.

"They did a review stream for the UR tier?"

It seemed they had gone live while I was training with the GG players. I started watching the archived stream to gather information.

I needed to know what strengths and differences each UR-tier player had. Of course, I wouldn't be the one picking team members, so it probably wouldn't make a huge difference in the auction.

Still, if I'm going to build synergy later, I should at least know that much.

So on my day off, I spent the time preparing for the tournament by watching gameplay videos and reviews of the pre-released UR-tier players.

The next day.

"Phil hi. Can you hear my voice?"

Yeah

We can hear you

Hi

Yesterday was boring without a stream, but you're finally here

Now I can breathe again

I turned on the stream about 30 minutes before the participant reveal and mock auction began. I planned to chat for a bit and then restream the official Quasdae broadcast.

"Thanks to resting well yesterday, I've recovered a lot of my energy."

That's good and all, but since you rested for a day, you must've prepared something

Yeah

Bring the content already!

We waited, so give us compensation!

The viewers immediately demanded content. I chuckled at the chat and replied.

"I'll chat a bit first and then we'll get into it. As for something big? Maybe not huge, but there might be something."

It felt better to set expectations in advance. If I suddenly switched to covering Quasdae, public sentiment could tank, so I was dropping a little bait.

Of course, no one would interpret that bait as me participating in Quasdae.

Until it's officially revealed, it's supposed to stay secret.

Some well-known streamers would subtly hint that they were participating. That would raise anticipation for Quasdae, so the organizers tended to turn a blind eye to that kind of exposure.

But I was in an ambiguous position, so I had no intention of revealing it early. On top of that, I was replacing another streamer who had originally been scheduled to participate, so I judged that a premature reveal could do more harm than good.

Nununana has donated 1,000 won!

What did you do while resting?

"I think I watched a lot of Battle Heal gameplay videos. My understanding of the game is still lacking, so I wanted to make up for that a bit."

That wasn't a lie. I just had an additional motive on top of that.

And there was no need to mention that motive.

After that, I talked about how I spent my day off, as well as about Battle Heal and Kill Ground. Finally, the official broadcast began, and there were less than five minutes left until the participant reveal.

Looks like some viewers left to watch their main streamer or the official broadcast.

There weren't that many to begin with, but because of Quasdae, the viewer count dropped even more. About 200 remained. That was still a lot, but compared to the other day, it was a significant drop.

Even among these 200, not all of them consider me their main streamer.

At best, maybe 100; at least, around 50 might consider me their main. Some were probably just staying because their usual streamer hadn't gone live yet.

With many viewers gone, I was able to bring up the topic naturally.

"Hey guys, the viewer count suddenly dropped. Is there something going on today?"

Quasdae

Not sure

There's some tournament

Battle Heal Quasdae

Was Quasdae scheduled for today?

With my mention, about 30 more viewers left.

I began to steer the atmosphere naturally.

"If it's Quasdae, that's the tournament hosted by Kwajijik, right? Man, that brings back memories..."

Maybe because I had participated two or three times back in the PC days, it really did feel nostalgic. I casually sat on the sofa in the waiting room and turned on Kwajijik's official channel.

It wasn't time yet, so the official channel was still showing the waiting screen.

"Since it's Quasdae, it should be fine to restream it like this, right?"

If you're a Kwajijik streamer, it's fine

Quasdae doesn't really mind

Yeah

It's okay

Since I was a participant anyway, it didn't really matter, but I intentionally asked to get confirmation from the viewers as part of keeping things under wraps. I continued chatting until the official broadcast began.

When the time came, the waiting screen changed. Margus, whom I had seen two days ago, was sitting there as well. Then the broadcast finally started.

"Hello everyone. I'm caster Sung Jinyu, your host for the 2046 Quasdae."

"I'm analyst Yoo Jinhyo."

"I'm Kim Jaehyuk, a pro gamer from GG known as Margus."

After their introductions, they began the broadcast in earnest. They talked about the tournament sponsors and how it was returning after a long time, and then finally moved on to the main topic.

"First, we'll reveal the roster for this tournament."

With that, the previously pre-announced UR-tier players appeared on screen.

The lineup was flashy enough to include former pro gamers like Ponia, Philip, Yuruba, and Chilchaek. That's why I had spent quite some time yesterday thinking while watching their gameplay.

So I'm ranked just below people like that?

The weight of it felt heavier than I expected, and I grew slightly nervous. Then came the reveal of the coaches.

"I'm sure many of you have been looking forward to this. Here is the lineup of coaches!"

With Sung Jinyu's words, the four hidden coach cards were revealed. Seeing the lineup, I nodded in agreement.

"That lineup? I approve."

Agreed

The UR players and the coaches are insane this time

How did they gather all those people in one place?

This is crazy

Most of the coaches were former pro gamers who had been active since the PC era. Recently, they had been streaming while still showing strong mechanics.

The fact that they appeared as coaches meant they were skilled enough in Battle Heal to teach others. Given what they had shown as pros, it was a trustworthy lineup.

The commentators left remarks about the coaches. Since their skills were well proven, there were no negative comments.

Finally, it was time to reveal the SSR tier.

"Starting with the SSR tier, we'll show their best submitted gameplay clips."

"Let's take a look."

As the commentators spoke, a video began playing.

The weapon was a sword. Five opponents rushed in. In a one-versus-five situation, the man calmly swung his sword and took them down one by one. While doing so, he skillfully utilized the map's terrain and various environmental elements.

It was an awe-inspiring play.

When the video ended, the curtain covering the name was lifted.

"The star of that video was the physical monster streamer, Furia!"

My eyes widened at that.

I hadn't ruled out the possibility of reconnecting with people from the past after moving to Capsule. Still, I hadn't expected to see Furia like this.

Looks like he's fully awakened his talent.

The clumsy figure from the past was nowhere to be seen in the video.

Furia is SSR?

He can hit UR-level peaks, but overall SSR makes sense

Aren't you acquainted with Furia?

His mechanics are insane

Even my viewers were praising Furia.

Then the next video began playing. I was curious who it would be, but the moment it started, I knew.

"Awoo!"

A clear wolf's howl echoed in the video.

At the same time, footage began of someone in a firefight against a gun-wielding player.

?

??????

Is that a werewolf? Is it some special rule from before?

????

Oh!

New viewers didn't know, but those who had watched my Battle Heal streams started spamming question marks. I didn't answer and waited for the commentators to speak.

When the video ended, the commentators finally opened their mouths.

"The star of that video was the PC game specialist streamer, Philgong!"

As soon as they said that, my chat was flooded with question marks.

????????

???

?

??????

??

To those viewers reacting like that, I calmly said,

"I'll be participating in this Quasdae as an SSR! Please cheer for me, everyone!"
