Chapter 1 - A life to redeem

CH1️⃣🤯REINCARNATION SOUL CENTER🤯

My name is John. I start my day at work. I am a boss, and I love seeing how miserable my workers are. I yell at them, tell them to work harder, and do everything I can to make them feel like they don't belong here. Doing this every day, being mean while being in charge, was amazing for me.

But one day, as I was berating a worker, my coworker Josh said something that caught me off guard:

"I won't let you get away with this forever. One day, when I... you'll pay for what you've done."

I ignored him and yelled, "Get back to work, or you're fired!"

That night, Josh appeared in my dream. He said, "All your life, you've committed sinful things. You need to think about your actions, or you'll end up somewhere you can never escape."

I asked, "What do I need to do?"

Josh answered, "Whenever you see someone in deep trouble, you must use every ounce of your will to help them. Otherwise..."

I woke up suddenly to my alarm, shaken by the dream. But what I saw next made me question everything. I was suddenly in a boat. I had no idea why, but I decided to enjoy it while I could.

Then I heard someone fall into the water. I knew I had done many bad things in life, but I felt I had to help. I asked the people around me to tie me to a rope and pull me up in two minutes. They did, and I plunged straight into the water, hoping to save the person.

As I went deeper, I finally caught the body—and to my surprise, it was Josh himself.

"You did well," Josh said. "Now let's see what else you can do."

Then he cut the rope I was tied to, and I sank, dying in the water.

When I woke up, I was in a bed—but something felt off. Josh was in front of me. I asked what had happened.

He explained, "Since you spent most of your life doing wrong, you're now in the Reincarnation Soul Center. The way you act here will determine what creature you'll be born as in the afterlife. You died because of your cruelty. When you're reincarnated, it won't be known—you'll just wake up in a new life someday."

Josh paused. "I have to go. Someone in the mortal world needs help."

As he opened the door, a gust of wind forced me to follow him. I found myself in a city filled with souls—countless souls, stretching as far as I could see. My house's door closed behind me, leaving me no choice but to explore.

Suddenly, a school bus appeared. The driver was a living piece of paper. I had no choice but to board. Inside, there were rows of souls and old, forgotten tech—flip phones, DVDs—that seemed alive. I spoke to one soul who introduced himself as Joseph. Like me, he remembered nothing except that Josh had said we'd done bad things.

The bus eventually stopped at a building. A timer on the bus counted down from two minutes. Confused, I stayed in the bus. Once the timer hit zero, a projection appeared from my hand, showing the number -800 slowly decreasing. Then a strong wind pushed me into the building, where I found myself in a classroom filled with souls and strange, old objects.

Joseph ended up next to me. We were both confused. Then Josh entered, silencing the room.

"This is a class for forgotten things and souls," he explained. "You will take tests to redeem your lives. Today, John, your number changed because of disobedience."

He continued, "Every time you do something good, your number rises. When you die and are reincarnated, your next life will depend on this number. Increase it, and you'll have endless possibilities. Fail, and your life will be miserable."

Suddenly, someone appeared at the door, yelling at Josh. He replied quickly, then the person left. Josh turned back to the class.

"Everyone, you must form groups of three," he said. I chose Joseph and a random pencil that seemed lost. As we touched the pencil together, our numbers increased by 20 points—Joseph's went from -1000 to -980, and mine from -850 to -830. Josh explained that helping diverse beings or those in need rewards kindness.

We were then assigned a task: help a boy named Charlie, a bully, change his ways. We touched the paper together, and in an instant, we were transported to the mortal world—but as children this time.

I woke up in a bed, confused. An adult voice called, "Get up, dinner is ready." I brushed my teeth and went downstairs to eat. The school bus arrived again, but this time it was a normal bus.

At school, a kid came up to me. "Pssst... are you John?" he whispered. I said yes, and we hugged. We had found each other and just needed to find Henry, the boy we were supposed to help.

But then we heard a crowd cheering. We went to see what was happening and saw Charlie forcing a weak kid to eat something. We intervened, shouting that it was wrong. Charlie and his friends pushed us into a garbage can until the teacher arrived and took Charlie to the principal.

Our numbers increased by 20 points again. Only we could see them. The boy we saved introduced himself as Henry, and I felt relieved—we had found him.

Engagement question

Do you think John truly helped Josh out of kindness, or was he already acting out of fear of punishment? Why does that matter?
