The demon looked between Kaela and Mark and sighed.
"Honestly, there's no point wasting my energy trying to crush you cockroaches."
It raised one hand.
Space twisted beside Kaela.
A crimson rift opened, revealing nothing but an indistinct darkness beyond.
Kaela's eyes widened.
"What the-"
The demon struck her before she could finish speaking.
Her body was hurled through the opening.
"KAELA!"
Ethan tried to crawl towards the rift, but it closed as soon as she was flung inside.
The demon then turned towards Mark.
Mark struggled to his feet, his remaining tendrils lashing out in a desperate attempt to grab the demon.
It caught one effortlessly.
Then it flung him into a second spatial rift that it formed effortlessly.
Mark disappeared into the darkness.
"MARK!"
Ethan's voice cracked.
He watched helplessly as the rift contracted.
"Where did you send them?!"
The demon didn't answer, watching with an evil smirk as the portal snapped shut.
