Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Alexis nodded, tapping her quill on the oak stand.

Emery approached Sean, her gaze fixed on him. "It's clear that you lack the mental capacity to make a rational choice. You are thinking with your Earth mind instead of your spiritual mind. In doing so, you put yourself in danger, and if not, others will get killed as well. I will not have your blood on my hands nor any others." The angel nodded and rushed away from Sean, doing a backflip and landing in the seat next to Macedon's. Her pink puffy polka dot dress resting gently around her.

Macedon cast a glance at Emery. "You really think he's pathetic?"

"Well, he is probably the worst I've seen in a while. He does have sincere convictions in his heart. Maybe he can amount to something but not yet." She cut Macedon a glance and a slight smile. "How are you?"

"I am doing well. I need a vacation, though." Macedon flexed his chest muscles shifting to the left in his seat.

Her eyes were focused on Sean. "I get it," Emery murmured.

One for me and one against me.I hope they don't kill my soul. Sean looked over at the hallway, and he saw Elijah emerge in a white and brown suit.

"Hello, Sean," the angel remarked politely as he looked at him. Elijah then turned to Alexis and smiled modestly. In her presence, he bent slightly and tilted his whole body.

Alexis leaned forward to hear Elijah's response, eager to see what he had to say.

"Thank you, Alexis! When I look at Sean, I see a man who is looking for his purpose. A man who is attempting to make sense of his present situation and the world around him. He brought about a maelstrom of feelings he can't even comprehend in our world, this culture, which he never knew existed.

"Why should we judge him so harshly for something he does not understand? Yes, the stakes are high, and demons are pushing harder than usual to destroy humans. We must continue to fight and move forward. This is what I see in Sean's eyes. The pressure we put on Dreamweavers is beyond what most spiritual beings can bear. They are supposed to be the best of the best here. Is Sean the best? Maybe not, but does he have the ability to understand the concepts of the spiritual realm and push though his fears and insecurities? I do believe the answer is yes! Should he falter, it would but our own fault. I certainly observed while training him that he had an aura of stubbornness about him." Sean looked at Elijah, trying not to blush.

Wow, I never thought he would say those things about me. Sean was hopeful for the first time in the trial.

Elijah took a bow at Alexis and walked forward to the seat where the other three angels were seated.Alexis eyes met Samantha's, who was sitting behind Sean and smiled.

"Now it's time for the final testimony of Sean. Who is looking to become a Dreamweaver and earn his salvation. This will give him the ability to go to paradise after he finishes a certain amount of time of work, which will be decided by me after today's events. Samantha, if you will, the floor is yours."

Samantha stood up. She walked by Sean. She put her hand on his shoulder and looked up at Alexis. "Alexis, you know me. I am one of your hardest workers here in the Dreamweaver's headquarters. I'm always attentive, punctual and make every effort to ensure my clients, well, my humans, are taken care of. Can you give him the utmost treatment and care for the Goddess Anastasia would give them as well? As Guardian Angels, we are only a manifestation of her love, and I extend that love to every person I encounter.

"You know, lately, I have felt slightly overworked. Some choices have made people think we are losing our way as a society. Almost everybody knows Sean is not the most charismatic, caring, or emotionally stable person. I see so much more than all of you see. I've watched him since he was a young child and now he is thirty-two years old. However, I feel that with the correct instruction and guidance, this young man may become an accomplished Dreamweaver." Samantha gave him a wide grin as she stares back at him.

Sean put his hand to his chest and bowed. "Yes. My purpose is to find Tabatha and hopefully relay a message to let her know I'm okay. Alexis, we were about to get married, and I died suddenly. I really have no recollection of what actually happened, and I'm hoping to find out information and earn my way into paradise. And this is one of the reasons I am trying so hard. As you can see, despite my lack of aptitude or talent, two of the three angels over there saw that I made an effort."

"You can see, Alexis, Sean is determined and cannot be underestimated. I believe in time, he will have the ability to harness his talent, skills, and abilities. And it's hard, but he will also seek the truth to what actually happened when he died. Samantha nodded her gazed fixed on Alexis.

Do you actually want to know what happened to you, Sean?" Alexis stared down at Sean from her podium and intertwined her fingers.

Sean hesitated in his speech. "Honestly, I just want to know if Tabatha's okay. I want to see she's happy and well maybe to see if anybody came to my funeral."

A tapping sound is heard from Alexis's fingertips. "Have you forgotten that dwelling on the past serves no purpose? No matter how deep the questions are in your heart, if you hold onto the past, you will not be able to unlock spiritual truth within you. You will not be able to use your mana and a way to not only save other humans but to protect yourself in the spiritual realm. This is a sign of immaturity."

"You know, humans are naturally curious creatures," Samantha said, pointing toward Sean. "All he wants to know is what happened to his love. He still has those deep emotions, and I saw from the records, he was able to walk on the walls with Elijah for twenty-five to thirty steps before falling. He has talent, and I believe we can use him to wage war against the demons, but it takes time."

Alexis said, looking at Sean, "I do understand what you are saying, Samantha, and I respect your opinion. Right now, it's three to one. Elijah, Samantha, and Macedon are in favor of Sean going forth with his training. Emery is the one who is opposed. I will take this all to deliberation. I will have an answer for you this afternoon. Is there anything else you would like to present, Samantha?"

"No, thank you for your time, Alexis. I'm thankful you gave me the ability to speak and let Sean know what is on my mind."
