Chapter 4 - Diana Oswald POV

Immediately I hung up the phone, I threw it on the bed and watched it bounce twice before sitting still while my heart raced in my chest, beating so fast like it was about to beat out of my chest through my mouth. My hands were shaky while beads of sweat appeared all over my forehead.

I exhaled sharply and tried to catch my breath calmly, this was it, I was so close to getting my dream life, everything would literally be handed to me in a platter, so easily. The though of it all made me exhale once more and a wide smile appeared on my face.

I looked at the door, making sure it was closed as I tiptoed to the cupboard, pulled out one of my old jeans from the drawer, took a good stare at it before sticking my hands into one of the hidden pockets and pulled out an old flash drive, immediately I heard footsteps coming, I hid it back immediately and closed the drawer shut just in time, the door flew open while I was standing just right in front of the drawer.

I turned around and saw Veronica standing at the door with one hand holding the frame, she stepped into the room holding a magazine in the other hand, "Err … why are you wearing a hoodie?" She asked with a confused look plastered on her face.

"Er … I'm just feeling a bit out of the weather that's all…"

Veronica chuckled softly, "It's literally about thirty degrees or something, silly."

"Y— yeah … yeah I know just feeling a bit cold that's all. You wanted to show me something?" I asked, trying to make sure she wouldn't get suspicious or anything.

"oh yeah…" she put the magazine in my face displaying two models who had on different two pieces in different colors, one in leopard print and the other with Polka dots imprinted on it, "Which do you think would suit me better?"

"Err … I think either of them, they all look good." I responded after taking a glance at the page before hurrying to grab my wristwatch.

"Either?! You have to be specific."

"Err .. the one with the plolka dots." I stole a glance at my wristwatch and I was running out of time, I needed to find the best way to dismiss her.

"The one with the polka dots? Don't you think that's too casual?" She followed me around the room as I gathered some of the stuff I needed to leave including the burner phone.

"Not at all…" I stopped, turned to her and placed my hands on her shoulders, "Veronica, I think it's perfect, it'll suit you perfectly, okay?" I said to her but she still looked indecisive. I made it towards the front door, "Yeah but —- wait…"

I turned around nervously stealing glances at my wristwatch knowing fully well I was supposed to be at the location waiting on Micheal Donovan's arrival. Veronica ran her eyes through me, "Veronica?!" I called out, she seemed distracted.

"Are you going somewhere?"

"N— yeah … yeah I am." I stuttered.

"Where to? And why are you dressed like that? You look like you just had the worst break up ever and you're in sum' kinda healing stage."

"Yeah…" I let out a really uncomfortable chuckle, "Right. I just wanna go grab something, I'll be back in a jiffy." I made it to the door and pulled it opene

"Will you by any chance go through the supermarket?" She ran to the back and the volume of her voice slowly dissapeared. I nervously tapped my feet against the floors, "Nica I gotta go!!" I yelled from the dooorstep.

"Here… a list of things we need, just stop by the mart on your way back." She handed a list to me with a smile on her face.

I turned around and left, my plan was to drive to a specific location, park the car there and go on foot to the garage I was supposed to meet him just in case he tries to double cross me again. I was already running late and I could bet that he was already there, he was desperate afterall.

After a moment, I got to the location, there was a black Range Rover parked outside, I was certain that was Donovan's car. I wasn't good with car models but I could tell that car would cost a ton! A whole lot of money.

I made sure the cost was clear before stepping in through the alley. Once I was able to get in, I spotted Micheal Donovan, The almighty powerful business tycoon, Micheal Donovan was standing alone in the middle of a garage, honoring the invitation of a mere mortal like me.

I shook my head in disbelief, but I had to contain my excitement. I put on the hoodie and the mask and then made sure the voice changer was working perfectly fine before I jumped down to meet him.

He looked really startled, I got up slowly and had a good look at him, "You must be the guy who's been calling me… what do you want?"

"I want us to strike a deal."

"why are you doing this?" He questioned and unfortunately for him, I could hear the hints of pity and remorse in his voice.

"I'm doing this because I want to be as good as you are, Afterall you're not the only one who deserves to live the dream life, 'yuno."

"I want to know who's behind that mask!" He demanded.

"Oh wow! Get off your high horse Micheal Donovan! I'm the one calling the shots here." I was starting to feel pressured and even nervous and then I realized how I didn't even do the math, just maybe he didn't come alone but he probably has a weapon or something, at this point I just knew I had to take it slow and steady.

"State your price."

"Price?" I scoffed, "This isn't about just a price, I need you to give me a lot more than just money."

"I'm not agreeing to anything till I see the who's behind that mask."

"I'm not giving up a face reveal if you don't agree to my demands. No face, no negotiation."

"Why should I trust someone like you?"

Micheal let out a deep sigh, he was hesitant to speak at first before he finally let it out, "I'm not about to let you destroy my career…I've worked way too hard for this. Let us come to a conclusion…. An agreement, a deal … I want to see that face, a face reveal …"

"You have nothing against me. I could walk away from you right now and still destroy your career.

"I'm not going to hear you out."

I stood there, starring at him, my heart was racing and he meant business, he didn't know it but I was desperate, I wanted this badly too, "okay fine! I'll give you a face reveal." This could possibly go wrong in so many ways.

Luckily I brought a gun in my back pocket, I pulled off the mask, and slowly let out my gold blonde hair, before raising my head up, my gaze caught Micheal's facial expression in great awe and a hanging jaw.
