pralaya-payodhi-jale dhritavan asi vedam
vihita-vahitra-caritram akhedam
kesava dhrita-mina-sarira jaya jagadisa hare
Translation
0 Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of a fish! All glories to You!
You easily acted as a boat in the form of a giant fish just to give protection to the Vedas, which had
become immersed in the turbulent sea of devastation.
Vishnu, the preserver, takes the form of a fish (Matsya) to save the world from a massive flood 🌊.
The story goes that a tiny fish approaches Manu, a righteous king, asking for protection 🐟. Manu keeps the fish in a bowl, then a pond, and eventually releases it into the ocean 🌟. The fish grows enormous and warns Manu of an impending flood, instructing him to build a boat 🛥️. Manu boards the boat with sages and seeds 🌱. The fish (Vishnu) guides the boat to safety, anchoring it to a mountain peak 🏔️.
Post-flood, Manu restarts human civilization 🌱. Matsya Avatar symbolizes protection and preservation 🌈.
