Atop a distant building in Yinglu District, Director Lei looked down at the ritual pattern at his feet. It had completely extinguished and turned to ash. He then glanced into the distance. Wisps of white smoke were rising from the twelve high-rises that had been part of the ritual formation.
A subordinate said in admiration, "It's a good thing Director Lei had us reinforce the ritual beforehand. He even set up so many auxiliary rituals to support it. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have held out."
"Yes, yes," some nearby Esoteric Bureau members chimed in, nodding.
Their original mission was simply to capture an active Consciousness Body, so in theory, they shouldn't have needed so many materials. They only did it because Director Lei insisted. Yet many of them had been privately unconvinced, even hoping to laugh at his expense afterward.
