Around noon, the hunting party returned one after another.
Wanyun saw that Lu Jingxing had brought back a small red fox. It was adorable.
Lu Jingxing gave the little fox to Wanyun, saying, "I shot it in the leg on purpose. Its fur is beautiful, perfect for making you a scarf to use in the winter."
Wanyun cuddled the fiery-red fox and said, "It's so beautiful. Let's not kill it. Can I keep it as a pet?"
Lu Jingxing said, "No. It stinks. It would be better to skin it and make you a scarf."
Wanyun stroked the little fox's fur and wheedled Lu Jingxing. "Since it's a gift for me, I should be the one to decide what happens to it. Husband, please say yes?"
Lu Jingxing was helpless against her pleas, so he said to Qiu Chi, "Have someone take care of it so it doesn't smell so strongly."
Qiu Chi agreed and took the fox from Wanyun's arms.
