The world of car racing was a chapter that had closed for him four years ago.
Nash Quinn knew not to push the subject too hard. He opened a new bottle of wine, poured two glasses, and offered one last piece of serious advice. "Zane Jennings, I think you should give it another shot."
He knew, in truth, that Zane Jennings still loved racing. He had seen the way Zane would stare, lost in thought, at a race car.
He also knew the reason Zane didn't watch races—it was simply because he hadn't truly let it go.
Zane Jennings didn't want to discuss the topic. He took the glass and replied casually, "Don't have time."
"Don't have time?" Nash Quinn was completely baffled by this second rejection. "What are you so busy with? Robbing banks?"
Zane Jennings's mood lightened slightly. "Pursuing someone."
He said *he* was pursuing someone, not the other way around. Nash Quinn was floored. "Who are you pursuing?" Something felt off. "You mean 'pursuing' as in... romantically?"
